    Kinda wacky scales on this knife, I made them out of a hardwood veneer stacking them together making a sort of plywood. It gave some great transitions between the layers when I started sanding into the handle.
    I couldn't find any brass rod for the pins the day I was working on this, so I also show how to use common tools (I used a drill press but a drill would work fine) to make a solid brass rod out of a commonly available brass screws.
    I didn't show all of the finishing, but I ended up going with a two part clear after the wipe on poly was fully dried

    Isn't it amazing what you can do with a drill press when you don't have a mill!!!!

      +Diesineveryfilm Customs Thanks, maybe someday ill graduate to blade making. I have a lot of respect for the guys that can do that :) Not sure if I have the patience to sit there and grind on something for that long.

      Haha I get you. I've made a few blades recently and it's been on fully hardened steel so took me soooooooooo long I was happy to reach the end.

      Man I can only imagine, then when I do imagine the 10 bucks for a knife blank doesn't sounds so pricey :p

      Hahaha yeh I see what you mean there. I have a local shop that sells files at £1 each so I buy those in bulk to make my knives although I've not successfully used one with my forge yet. Plenty of fail videos on my channel haha luckily a few file knifes came out nice and I've had good feedback on my videos comments so far.

      Holy crap what a dick I sounded like haha. I actually meant it differently to how it reads, I thought you made the blade and was hoping to see the process as I like the look of it. You really did perfect it with that handle buddy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    Very nice, at the end is it just danish oil and heat gun to make it that glossy or did you spray a two part epoxy on it?

    Hey I just finished a knife with the same blank. Used black canvas micarta though. Nice work! You ever finish that little wolverine hammered folder hiding on the bench?

    I want to make my own folding knife or find a folding knife kit of some sort

    • @Tappar1
      @Tappar1  9 лет назад

      +RedGhost1990 I have a video coming soon of a folding knife I made from a blank. If you search ebay "folder knife blank" a bunch should come up. I have used premium knife supply and had a few QC issues but they rectified them immediately and the blades seem to be very good for the price.

      Degrees and gloves is the best practice! That said I have had knives where I forgot to degrees the metal at all and they have held up, the pins make a huge difference for some fudge factor :)

      +Tappar I wear latex gloves all the time when working/custominging on my 1;50 scalemodels. And i got a hold off black ones now, they are much stonger for us guys with big hands and can take a lot more abuse :))-
