    If I know it correctly, the B-29 tailgunners were sitting in a tiny, isolated pressurized compartment from takeoff to landing. The actor Charles Bronson, (original name: Charles Buchinsky) served in the war as a B-29 tailgunner, and it made him claustrophobic.

    Four motored heavies? Engines stopped or on fire? OK, Summer Camp joke routine
    A few seats are laid out; airliner cabin, cockpit, two each side where the engines would be. People sit on the seats ... including an unwitting stooge, performiong the role of engine number two.
    The guy in the captain's seat at the front announces "starting engines ... one ... two ... three ... four" and the people on the 'engine' seats in turn start making childish engine noises and whirling their arms about imitating propellers.
    The captain announces "taking off" and everybody except the engines lean back for a few moments.
    "The flight attendant will now serve drinks". Somebody at the back of the 'cabin'get up and hands everybody else, including the pilot, a cup of water.
    Engine number one stops making noises and whirling his arms. The captain announces "this is your captain speaking, engine number one has stopped, this will delay our arrival by one hour".
    Engine number four stops. The captain announces "this is your captain speaking, engine number four has also stopped, this will delay our arrival by another hour".
    Engine number three stops. The captain announces "this is your captain speaking, engine number three has now stopped, this will delay our arrival by four hours".
    Engine number two has been briefed to expect a punchline; one of the passengers will turn to another and say "I hope engine number two doesn't stop, or we'll be up here all night!"
    But what actually happens is the captain announces "Oh no! Engine number two is on fire!" and then everybody throws their cups of water at him....

      Elevator controls: Damaged

    • @llYossarian
      @llYossarian 3 года назад

      @@Fishyyy I meant in every single video too but if it's specifically a technique for when you're damaged maybe I've literally only seen the videos where you're landing damaged... so fair play/I might've judged before all the facts were in.

    • @Fishyyy
      @Fishyyy  3 года назад +2

      I got a few thousand hours in this game. I can feel a stall coming. Dunno, it might be true even. We usually don't take the time to check stall speed, so I probably come in a bit fast, just to make sure.
      With damaged aircraft there always are lots of factors to consider. Wholes in wings decrease lift and increase stall speed for example. If you got no elevator, or only a half, you have to go pretty fast, otherwise the nose will go down. Then you have to increase power, to get the nose up again, which in turn speeds you up.

    • @llYossarian
      @llYossarian 3 года назад +1

      @@Fishyyy Yeah... y'know it ALWAYS bugs me how in real air crashes/events it seems like pilots put their gear down _really_ early when they don't really know the state of their aircraft and from my sim/Sturmovik experience trying the gear is the very last thing I do on approach. ...also, I don't understand why modern airliners still don't have external cameras looking at important control surfaces as standard at the very least or at this point they should really start having "look-through" virtual cockpits and LIDAR (or at least virtual) AR maps.
      How hard would it really be to make a simulator environment that could be overlaid through the entire flight and let pilots unequivocally know their position at all times as well as "see" through any/all inclement weather? (synced position with a 3D map could be maintained without external communication/GPS using just accelerometers and/or landmarks)
      I don't know how they did the new MS Flight Simulator map but if they can do that for a commercial simulator it definitely seems like they could generate a fairly detailed map "just" by having a few airlines equip a few fleet aircraft with scanners for a few years so an active global effort to generate the data for a standardized global aviation sim environment seems like it should almost be _...easy._
