  • Dew House in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, is a modern take on the traditional Thai courtyard house. It prioritizes connecting residents with nature and each other. The design incorporates elements that engage all five senses: sight through framed views, touch with natural materials, smell with fresh air circulation, sound with the wind rustling leaves, and taste with glimpses of the surrounding gardens.
The core element is a double-height courtyard with a roof that allows dappled sunlight and rain to reach the plants below. This space acts as a buffer zone, protecting the home from the elements while offering a constant connection to the outdoors. The house also has two access routes - a public one that offers glimpses into family life and a private one for the residents. This clever design allows for both social connection with neighbors and a sense of privacy for the family.
