Ever since I heard the first EP back in 2009 I've watched Chicano Batman grow, with a sound that perfectly captures dark lounges, quinceñera dances, car shows and backyard parties.
Lots of other folks have heard something in this music - since that debut the band has played some of the biggest outdoor music festivals for diverse crowds around the country.
The magic of a band like this is in the details, and their performance here allows us to fall into the non-stop groove and passion of a sound that gets better and better with each performance. See for yourself.

Finding new music is one of the best things on earth
Found them through a meme best day of my life
Actually is the other way around, this is the good old school music. We are the newbies here !
Or finding the last roll of toilet paper at home
Bass tone is UNREAL. Which, considering how amazing the other parts of the band are, still manages to stand out.
The beauty of my Hispanic brothers, all types of shades.
Alexis Sarabia right! I’m loving it!
That’s why we are the cosmic race
The gringos give respect
Huh? All the men are about the same shade except one… and he’s only a tad darker lol
@@happyface3216people like u is why I have no faith in civilization

70's mexican bands
🇺🇸🇲🇽
As a kid who was born in 82 and been into the 90s music scene. Especially golden era hiphop and rock (chili peppers, sublime, faithnomore etc) . Chicano Batman has revived my faith in music by just being awesome and re instilling a nostalgic feeling that very few artists do . Plus I’m from Cali so that Chicano vibe just brings it home for me. I love all their albums and hope other discover this therapeutic music. I will be sampling and making hiphop off these new classics!!!
calibomber209 definite California vibes for sure. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yes, it speaks to my soul! 🙌🏼
Im with u there
Same here, same exact thing over here man. Lost faith in music there for a while. I think I’m back....
The band brainstory is great too , just putting it out there
Never heard these guys before but wooow what a sound, how does NPR not have 1m subs yet with such a high quality, expertly curated show they have?!
Chazza534 Because the majority of people don't appreciate good music and prefer to listen to the mainstream.
yep! have you listens to helado Negro and Anderson .Paak and the free nationals -- a few others I really like
Yung Santana Justin Bieber do agree with you 😉 gr8 band btw, so fresh
We did it Reddit!
Omg. Answer: very few real ppl nowadays like real shit, that’s why dumb songs have 300million hits
That bass tone is so pretty.
Damn, that's one pretty man.
Joshua Eckels That's literally the first thing I noticed when the video started. Perfect skin.
I could watch him sing forever.
I call it charisma , I have it myself ... hahaha
Very handsome, no homo i swear
And beautiful teeth 😁 ... Bardo Martinez is so gorgeous! Check-out "FLY" --- it's 2024 now ... 🫡
I love the “as long as grass is green and water runs” line, nodding to their Indios roots.
Honestly one of the best bands out there right now
Seeing them this Saturday in Brooklyn..right across the street from my house..it is going to be heavenly!!
Soooooo .. how was the show.. what set did they do . New or old? 😉👍👍
Chicano Batman can do no wrong! You've done it again Tiny Desk!
i've seen them three times already and they just get better and better each show. I'm so happy they're finally getting more recognition!! They deserve it! Very humble and nice people!
I just discovered them two days ago and watched them yesterday in Santa Cruz and let me just say AMAZING 👏
So Happy that people still make funky fresh music that's unpredictable. I was pleasantly suprised.
Chicano Batmas has an incredible sound like no other!!! You literally feel like you're on a rollercoaster when you play their stuff, don't know what's gonna hit you!
I cannot get enough of Bardo's voice at 6:52- accompanied by the shot of Eduardo on the bass. This is pure gold!
Is this rage against the machines’ chilled out brother in law or something
That's humorous
Ahha
Relax with the Man
Chill against the machine
This comment made me laugh so hard
Smooth guitar playing sounds just like it does on record, and he keep a chill vibe! 10/10
Mags M agree
wow, these cats have an awesome sound. a breath of fresh air.
There's very few episodes I watch all the way through this was one of em. very dope
Johnny Hernandez same here
Confusion will be my Epitaph..
I hear The Strokes and Los Yonics. Pasteles Verdes. Some Jack Johnson. Some Inspector. Some Res Hot Chilis. Awesome Sound
Yes!!!
All those for sure.
Oh my god finally someone else hears it. I’ve always said I hear los yonics too !!!
for reals....first thing i thought of was los terricolas o Yndio
I felt the yonics vibe; I thought I was crazy!
Giving me faith that the music industry today is not completely shit. Muchicimos gracias Chicano Batman (and NPR for playing music worth listening to). Keep singing what you know, and being real. Love from Ireland!!!
what does music being created have to do with "the music industry" anymore? so much of what is out there now is independently produced and distributed...
You’re the same kind of dude that uses the sentences “in today’s day and age” in an essay lol
@@carlosochoa5251 What's wrong with that?
@@carlosochoa5251 I'm not following you here. What is your point?
@@carlosochoa5251 what kind of dude writes that in an essay? Is it the kind that makes fun of people who say "Back in my day" in a Facebook post?
Amazing band i tripped balls for 12 hours listening to these guy. I took two tabs and i ended up buying all there music and some concert tickets to go see them.
I love how they have female back up singers. I even saw them live in concert super radddddd
One of the videos that got me through lockdown 2021. Come and play UK!!!!!!
I have been hearing about these guys for a while...and they really live up to the hype. Thoughtful lyrics and they lay down such a cool vibe! This is also my first viewing of any Tiny Desk Concert...I'll be back for more!
la raja! escuchando chicano batman desde Santiago de Chile con todo el estilo ! la raja estos weones
isla decepción el descueve wn!
What a powerfully ambiguous setting. I love seeing these concerts surrounded with books. Aside from the sound manipulation the different size books and asymmetrical walls it creates with wave absorbing properties, the ideas that are there with you. Just ink and pulp, what ever that is. Ideas.
Shout out to Chipotle for putting me on this group when I used to work there almost 10 years ago. They played the same playlist in all their stores and 'Black Lipstick' is on it.
Your performance of "Friendship (Is A Small Boat In A Storm)" = sublime
Need to find me a curly headed brown boy with a guitar in his arms
SAMEEEE 🥺
Come to brazil
You will!
I found it, girls. Repeat, I found it 😱💕
same😭
This reminds me of the music in Napoleon Dynamite. Awesome stuff!
I saw them live a few years ago when they opened for Jack White, and now I'm seeing them here. Wishing all the best for them and their futures in music!
Thank you so much Jack White!!!! You have a wonderful way of finding WONDERFUL musicians and giving them a boost up. These guys rock!
One of the most underrated bands
"These guys had me at their name." That's exactly what made me click. Turned out to be positive!
shoutout 79.5!!! you guys are amazing come out with that album already!! loved seeing you both in philly!
What an interesting sound these guys got! I love it, I didnt realize I was grinning ear to ear throughout the whole duration of the video until my face started hurting.
loved everything about this! I was smiling the whole time
This is my new favorite tiny desk concert! Can’t wait to see Chicano Batman in June!
The vocalists are from a band called "79.5". They are solid.
BottomsMU Nya Parker Brown and Piya Malik.
BottomsMU they tour together. I caught them at The Mothlight in Asheville, NC and shit was too dope.
Terrorize my heart
The musical vibes of these men and woman are taking me over.. I cannot resist

Amazing band that I found early this year, so glad I did cause they're getting lots of attention now! Great set
I've been waiting for this for so long lol
Fantastic!. This is worth the days of searching and listening.
The first song started up I'm like
..... what's so special about this? ......by the end of the first song......me so soothed and mellowed out.....this is nice : ).
Freedom is Free is my current favorite song.
I remember these guys from Napoleon Dynamites prom, glad to see they're still playing!
scorpman97 really?
what?
scorpman97 lol it's like if Pedro had a band
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Excited to discover this band..delicious retro groove..and what a good singer!
DAT BASS THO
Recently stumbled upon Freedom Is Free in a local record store and bought it because it was in the "world music" section and I liked the cover. Glad I did. This is great!
That "YORG" organ is driving me insane.
Solid set though.
Yorg is it! LOL!
yorg ix3
Yeah, idk why they put it up like that in these smaller sets. In concert, it sounds much better
Wes, you missed the point. there is nothing wrong with the sound of the organ. the point was about the "Korg" name on the organ being slightly damaged so that the K looks sort of like a Y, spelling Yorg.
Shout out to all the Mexicans and columbians. We make great music
Great band, I've seen them in Hollywood a few times. Cool guys. These NPR sessions are cool, but never long enough.
Got some very beautiful ladies on the backup vocals here, fellas!!!! Well done!!!!
Found them(and two others) while listening to a random radio from alaska, made my day!
One of my favorite band. saw them live in Houston! Keep up the good work
Toda madre
Been binging chicano batman and la luz the last couple weeks.
