I have followed them on IG for a very long time and they have such a loving home. These ARE rescues!! They were NOT taken out of the wild and could never be reintroduced into the wild because they’ve never been there to begin with. They are super spoiled and their family loves them ♥️
Christy W doesn’t change the fact they shouldn’t be pets, wether they’ve been wild or not it’s in the blood line. For example we’ve bred dogs to be companions guardians meaning they grow tamed, these cats haven’t had that meaning there very close to what you would find in the wild. And just because they don’t know any better than captivity, do you think it’s right to exploit these animals. Keep them like house cats just because it’s what we want, keep them in a small environment because it’s all we can do compared to what they would have in the wild. It’s selfish cruel and disgusting, I think these people are incredibly self centred as they clearly don’t care about these cats. Or they wouldn’t do this to them, and anyone who try’s to defend them is wrong. A wild animal is called a wild animal because it lives in the wild, not because it lives in a house.
And do you think it’s right if they didn’t rescue them and they lived in a cage? Because that’s where they would’ve lived. They have way more than a small space now. Maybe you should watch some of their Instagram videos before passing judgement on what kind of people you think they are. They’re not “exploiting” them. They take VERY good care of them.
Christy W I have done my research and seen more than this video, if they have been rescued. It’s a bit of a better situation, but the thing I really have an issue with is the fact they normalise it. In the way they compare them to house cats and say that big cats are better and stuff, it makes people want them and they shouldn’t be pets. If they were rescued send them to a good zoo, i mean I disagree with zoos as well but some times you’ve got to do the lesser of the two evils. At least in a zoo there’s the correct understanding of the animal and also, the correct environment to the best it can be recreated.
karen ex the point I’m trying to get across, is wether they’ve seen the wild or not. They are wild animals, there for we shouldn’t be interfering. Weather these people give them a good home or not is nothing to do with the fact they shouldn’t be there in the first place, can’t believe people are trying to stick up for her it’s cruel.
They had one bobcat for a year they got the second one 2 months later, she's saying the bobcats have been together for six months. Although she did word that weird, it's still not long enough to have that many broken bones lol
When I was a student at university, I worked in wildlife management program for 2 years in bobcat program, I raised a litter of 5 bobcat kittens, it was beyond amazing, they had an actual house of their own, had marks all over my shoulders from them all wanting to be there at the same time!
Finally, an exotics owner who doesn't try to modify the pet for their lifestyle. Hate to hear of teeth being removed and declawing... simply means it's not a good fit and shouldn't be attempted!
@In Korea They're not "wild" animals if they are rescues. Turning them back into wild animals from captive animals is a lengthy process. High horses are not real creatures.
I dislike when people declaw, defang or cut the tails of domesticated pets too..... Even worse is the unethical breeding of animals for harmful and sometimes fatal "purebred" traits. I just learned of the horrible painful and shortened lives most pugs live because they cannot breathe. But that's humans for u. There isn't a thing we won't subject the animal (and human) population to for our benefit, and those are on the more minor edge of the spectrum. It reminds me of parents who put their babies through unnecessary surgical procedures but that's a whole other controversial issue..
I lost my Bobcat last year Alibaba Simba Bob. He treated me like one of his own. I have never had a connection with cat like this before. Highly intelligent and active.❤️
What an AMAZING name! I never had a full bobcat for a pet, but as preschooler my dad and I recused a cat that was thrown out of a car in front of our house in a horrible thunderstorm. My dad insisted his name would be Macska (legit just means cat in Hungarian lol) and his nickname I gave him was Mr. Macska Moo Moo Man (remember I was 4 lol). Anyways, Macska went EVERYWHERE with me, was close with our golden retrieves, loved being outside, liked to be carried around in the pocket of my dad's flannel shirts, but despised my sister(would fk her up any chance he got...she wasn't the nicest to him either. My mom found him in the toilet one day after my sister decided to put him in there when she was little). As time went on Mascka went from a cute tiny kitten with a stubby tail and extra fluffy ears to a cat weighing almost 50lbs and just a killing machine in our backyard and the woods behind our house (mice, snakes, rabbits, birds, and we even got him in the apple tree whacking a buck in the head one day, and he loved leaving anything he didn't eat as a "present" for me and my dad...not my fav gift lol). Come to find out from our vet Macska was not a normal domestic cat, but half bobcat. A kid I grew up with to this day still swears Macska was a dog and not a cat...that's how big he was😂. But he really was one of the best cats I ever got to call my pet.
@@damianshaw4613 Aww thank you! I do have some amazing childhood memories thanks to Macska. Im glad you and Alibaba were able to have the same great experience as me and Macska. Just curious did Alibaba live as long as the couple in the video said bobcats can live in captivity (20 yrs I believe)? I wish all pets could live at least 20 yrs. Its the hardest part about having pets is that you only get to have them in your life for a fraction of our own lives.
@voltz 19 generally pound to pound cats pack more punch than dogs, be it wild or domestic. A cat and dog of same size would mostly favour cats in a fight.

One important thing that wasn’t mentioned is that these two bobcats are rescues from an animal sanctuary and can not be released into the wild. These two fur babies are the luckiest bobcats to have such caring and loving humans. I have been following their story since they rescued Basil. And although it was a devastating loss when Basil got out and lost. (I still hope she comes back one day) It opened a door for two more bobcats to get rescued and care for in a loving home. It’s amazing that Melissa and Mick decided to dedicate the rest of their lives to care for them. I’m sure it’s not an easy task. Keep the ig videos streaming, Melissa. I love watching Gypsy and Monaco’s daily adventures. So happy that they love each other now.
Annette Tully they shouldn’t be in a house period. These are wild animals! Why keep them inside? I know they can’t be in the wild but they deserve better than a human environment.
@@maggiee639city folk, when you live in the woods or country, wild critters around us everywhere , some stay away , some stay close, bobcats if comfortable will hang out, easiest wild cat to be domesticated , mild disposition, when giving birth, stay close to humans, predators can’t get the cubs, see this all the time
I remember I encountered a bobcat in the woods it was a cool rare moment. My friend yelled mountain lion and I looked behind me and it was just a bobcat sittin on it’s butt looking at us.
Way more amazing than them having to be locked up in a human home. Keeping exotic pets is disgusting and dangerous for all exotic animals. The exotic pet industry cares only about money.
Had one in my backyard yesterday. The whole street came out to look. Bobcats are generally not dangerous to humans, unless they have rabies. I would love to have one as a pet, but I wouldn't have room nor be able to afford the diet. A 20 to 30 year lifespan is also ideal. Our family housecats lived to their late teens, but I hated seeing them go, to the point I can't bear to have one of my own. I just enjoy the neighbourhood cats that come to visit. The bobcat will likely not come around often, and feeding them just puts their lives at risk since animal services would likely destroy an acclimated one. But if I had the means, a pet would be awesome.
@@michaeldorosh5047 That's not what I said in my comment. I said it's dangerous for all of the exotic pets themselves because the exotic pet industry will rip thousands of those poor animals out of their natural habitats and give them the least necessary care which will safely get them to a customer. They care only about money and for normal (non-zoo etc) people to just own any exotic pet really endangers them in the wild. Don't do it if you truly love them.
@@tanya9nithreus That's clearly not what is happening in this video. For what it is worth, there are plenty of shitty non-exotic pet owners, too. But no one is suggesting prohibitions on regular cats, dogs or goldfish because of the actions of the bad actors.

He and I became best friends. We would play ball in the pond. He liked to be loved. People couldnt believe I had a playful Nutria.
I had a Bob cat as well! We logging up here BC! He moved in with us as a kitten! We knew he was a BoB cat but he was very young and we could not find his mother! Oh the irony that a less domesticated cat would instinctively use a toilet like a human, but a domesticated cat wants to pee on every rug, towel, pillow, or wherever else they can find in lieu of a litter box.
That's weird, I got my cat at 4 months old, showed her the litter box since and ever since she would only use the litter box. It's been 8 years and not one mishap. If she locks herself in the garage or closet for hours she will hold it in
@@laurenbadan3531 trust me, they are not all the same. In fact I keep a rotation of towels that I do not use for bathing that I put down every day and then at the end of the week wash with some bleach and then start all over again. If I don't put down the towel the little fart will find something else.
Dilly Dally cats usually pee around the house if they feel unsafe, or something like that. Once, my cat broke a leg, and couldn’t go outside, so she peed everywhere, because she was annoyed. Lovely people, and obviously very dedicated to looking after them. I pity the fool who tries to rob them as those two kitties look hella protective of mom and dad!
Katy Phelan if you watch the video, the lady tells you that bobcats pee in any water source to hide their scent. So prey or predators don't know they are around.
It’s no joke. I have a huge “normal” cat, one who has often been mistaken for a young bobcat. I came home once to find a battering ram had shattered my rear door. I actually missed that part. Plus I actually want a cheetah or another spotted cat. A cheetah because they're spotted but also pretty laid back. It's rare to get hurt by them even in the wild. They just aren't too that strong. A spotted cat because I've always loved that look. But my only plans to ever get one is if there's an apocalypse. Then I'm adopting cheetahs. As for just a spotted cat. There's Savannah's that have real wildcat blood in the 6-7+ generations back and my favorite ocicats which are spotted but without wildcat blood at all. Still not getting them. Ocicats are very active and somewhat dog like. And Savannahs are also big strong active cats. It wouldn't be fair to have cat I can't keep up with. So I'll stick to my housecats that are under 9pounds. They do enough damage to me anyway. But I'll keep the dream of owning a big cat for an apocalypse. Or winning the lottery and then I wouldn't own it so much as pay the bills and hang out with it. With a big fence between us of course.
I had a Siamese cat who pee’d in the toilet 🚽. She also went in the sink sometimes. I kept finding urine in my toilet, without toilet paper. I finally saw her do it lol 😂 What a nice video of people properly caring for their wild cats.
Na that house is a million dollar home in TX. How much I dont know exactly. At first glance I would estimate no less than 400k but after finishing the vid it's much higher. With that said, realestate in TX is very reasonable compared to other states. It is a very lovely home.
I have a snapping turtle that eats the same. Shimp, salmon, steak, chicken, and veggies and fruits of course as well. But NOOO bananas, they make him gassy, the first $350 vet bill i learned that
The thing with cats is that they're mostly claustrophilic(having places where their back isn't vulnerable), have this weird instinctual rule about platforms of varying heights(having the first-strike advantage and social hierarchy), scratching for sharpening their tools(self-explanatory), etc. those specific little details that makes a cat feel secure and relieve that being territorial and trying to survive won't be an issue when you managed to check all those factors. Learned those from firsthand experience, and made enough mistakes here and there to know what and what not to do around cats, even wild ones. Though I'm more of a dog person, cats give me a bit more of a challenge in terms of taming them, like I'm doing a jigsaw puzzle. But it's a fun journey nonetheless, and never regretted having both cats and dogs.
Kosala W. Abayagunawardene I know of regular tiger cats that one day just started to do that! On top of that we choose to treat nature as something that is against us rather than something to be embraced, what I mean is we try to find ways to work around nature, when we could be domesticating exotic animals and treating them with respect, we also cast aside the problems with our current lifestyle as humans and as a result we spread malice in the world around us.
Well you see, in terms of survivability compared to other animals in the animal kingdom we are the slowest, have the worst eyesight and hearing get sick easily digest food terribly ect. joshua lee Couldn't agree more with you Joshua. These two rile up these cats and do everything wrong psychologically with them. These cats see them as play toys and thus don't respect them. It's all about how the humans set the tone with the animals.
When I was growing up, our family (very large family...my mother has 11 siblings) raised a lot of wild animals. Any time there was an orphaned animal the local wardens would bring the babies to us....and we would raise them. Most often....the animals returned to the wild when they grew up....with a few exceptions. Among those I was lucky enough to experience were multiple racoons (all but 2 left when they reached maturity) a couple skunks and a bobcat (named Banjo....he stayed with us for 15 years) among others. I fell lucky that I grew up in such an environment and the bobcat and racoons were awesome companions when I was young. We also had many dogs, house cats, goats, cattle, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, horses and donkeys among others.....all of this is probably why I love animals so much today. Now if I could just get those damn snapping turtles to be thankful when I save them from busy roads.......
They don’t emphasize enough that these bobcats are rescued. They were never going to be able to live in the wild. On her ig she mentions almost weekly that while she loves her bobcats, they are a ton of work and people should not acquire them as pets.

@SaleucamiLike children, or any other animal, the more you put effort into training/teaching them. showing love to them, and care, the more you can expect that they are safe pets. It works the same for children.
I'm 70 and have had cats all my life, including a Bengal which is as close to wild as it gets without really being wild. I learned early on that you should NEVER play wrestle with cats, wild or domestic but especially wild. It teaches them to attack your hands when you all want to do is pet them. Always use toys.
In theory this is sound advice. I would imagine that the end result varies from cat to cat though. But I can see how it's best to err on the side of caution.

@S cell Animals are affected by the cold and snow just as much as we are. If you live in the South, fine. But if you live anywhere that has an actual winter, then you don't want your pets outside every day. In northern places, temperatures can dip into the negatives; just recently, much of the Northeast suffered temperatures of -5 to -15 with wind chill values of -30 and below. Never leave your pet out in weather like that, especially if it's snowing too.
@S cell why, my cats enjoy being in the house and outside, there is nothing wrong with having a cat in the house, so why not just cry and whine about something that will make you actually raise awarness and not bring annoyance to yourself, and no when they are outside I do let them in the minute they scratch at the door.

Was it a rescue why would you have a wild animal!!!

One important thing that wasn’t mentioned is that these two bobcats are rescues from an animal sanctuary and can not be released into the wild. These two fur babies are the luckiest bobcats to have such caring and loving humans. I have been following their story since they rescued Basil.

Amazing that they can keep two bobcats peacefully. They’re normally very solitary and highly territorial.
You know how it is with animals. Once they are fed and their needs are met, they don't really care about much else.
These are young cats. It may change.
living in a home environment they don't have to worry about competition for females or safeguarding their hunting space... (so they can get along)
It's a big house, with cat trees and such. Seems like that's always the solution on the "My Cat From Hell" show. Catify the house.

These types of exotic pets really make me wonder what the human race could accomplish if we worked with nature rather than against it.
Humans are nature, there is no separation. Human behavior is the way it BECAUSE of nature, a result of evolution and adaptation to it's environment. Nature doesn't "work against" itself lmao. If you have a problem with human behavior, you have a problem with mother nature. She knows better than you, trust her
@@disco4535 Dude us humans are essentially a cancer onto this world, we take take take but we never give back, we cut down trees, destroy habitats, and devastate the climate.
Then again, 90% of people who have pets in general cant take care of them properly anyways.
Well you see, in terms of survivability compared to other animals in the animal kingdom we are the slowest, have the worst eyesight and hearing get sick easily digest food terribly ect. Our brains is what keeps us alive. And if you think for a second that mother nature wont reclaim her lands youre wrong. We are doing more harm yes but we will eventually go extinct or very close to it because the resources we need will eventually run out.

bobcat is wild animal to begin with and not domestic.. So yeah
She also said... They never hurt us
When I was growing up, our family (very large family...my mother has 11 siblings) raised a lot of wild animals.

I learned early on that you should NEVER play wrestle with cats, wild or domestic but especially wild. It teaches them to attack your hands when you all want to do is pet them. Always use toys.
Hello Merrylee how’s the weather over there

In theory this is sound advice. I would imagine that the end result varies from cat to cat though. But I can see how it's best to err on the side of caution.
I agree. I was gonna say the same thing. Why on earth would they play wrestle with any cat?
love it… very well taken care of. they are safe and happy
cats 101, never use your hands as toys lol.
love those cats. you guys are fortunate.
Jon W .. you forgot to mention that, that rule applies to pussies.
You aren't kidding! I learned that for sure with my snowshoe Siamese. She was the WORST KITTEN EVER. She turned into a sweet grown cat eventually.
Cats and dogs LOL
Had to scroll too far for this comment -.-
Melissa: *They pee in the toilet!*
Me: *SQUEAKING*
Probs have their own bathroom in the massive house
Fortnite Clips x actually my cat used to pee in toilet as well..I don’t know how they can do it..
If they wanna impress me, they have to wipe and flush, as well......oh, and scrub the bowl every once in awhile.
Love and peace. Would love to tell my story, but this is good enough!
Me:aw its so beautiful

These pets aren't for pussies 😺
"They dont really hurt us.. but we used to have two young children... :( "
Well usually when people adopt wild animals like bobcats, they are usually rich assholes.
But this family is pretty cool with it all and giving these animals the respect they deserve which is nice
Still rich though
nofamilynofriendsnoproblems they are rescues and cannot be released back into the wild
@Jesse Gutierrez If you use your money to buy an exotic pet and don't really love it like this family loves their cat babies...yes.
@@0hermitworm love doesn't overcome a wild animal mauling you. Sorry. They are wild animals without the selective breeding that makes domestic pets what they are to humans today.
The lackadaisical attitude of them is bipolar to their caution and dietary care. Dunno if it is the editing or the fact she seems so much more blissfully unaware than her husband
0hermitworm LOVE? They treat them like play toys and thus the cats do the same to them. Neither are wildlife biologists. They're idiots.
My uncle had Bobcats all the time. He would always raise them from a kitten and up and take them to the ranch to go play and walk them. They never hurt my family nor my uncle. I got scrapes and a few bites that caused scabs but that was only when I played when them to much and they got energetic.
They were amazing pets.
Also they were perfectly happy having their nails clipped every month. And we would give them bones chicken for their teeth to dull a little

where did he get it
@@sophiagalvan7036 he found a orphaned bobcat kitten in a stack of hay. He left it there thinking it was going to be picked up froma momma. It never did so he took it in. Years later he bred it with another domesticated bobcat and got kittens and so on
I can't imagine how their jaws are strong indeed! I have a large male tabby, and his jaws are very strong, so a bobcat? Wow 😅😅😅😅
What a RUDE Bobcat. He didn't even flush the toilet.
🤣🤣🤣
Dis-cos-tan
Actually I wish my dog could do that 😭
Or wash his paws!
Right 🙄🙄
Yes...we had a bobcat my parent bought at a game farm in florida. His name was Ceasar and he was my buddy. I was young, around 8-9 when we got him as a kitten. He slept in bed with me almost every night when he got a little older and yes, would poop and pee in the toilet. I'm 46 and still miss him.
That's so touching! You're a lucky guy. Did he get to live a long life? I am surprised they live so much longer than housecats. It's very tough when kitties pass.
Wow!

Beautiful! They are absolutely cute and awesome! 😊
You don’t share a house with your cat.
Your cat owns the house.
A cell
How would you like it if I stuck u outside, and they could get sick by cold. Btw rabies are real
Cats can live indoors very happily, particularly if they've been inside since they were kittens, but they do have some particular requirements. As they don't have access to the outdoors, owners should ensure their indoor cats are stimulated and still lead an active lifestyle.
That’s what I’m saying.

I cannot believe ANYONE-- especially someone with bobcats would ever ever use hands as toys.
Yeah seriously. That's a basic rule of thumb for any pet owner, even dog or house cat. Don't make them learn that your hand is a chew toy. Lol

It’s like they say, they always preferred the alternative route. They probably feel powerful to be able to play them using their hands and know that they won’t get shredded. But yeah, I doubt anyone is visiting their home.
If you follow her on Instagram, @a_bobcats_tale, you will see that they have been rescued from a sanctuary. They put a lot of love and effort into helping those babies have a wonderful life instead of living in a sanctuary. They cannot be re-released. Just follow them and you will see for yourself instead of jumping to conclusions after a 4 minute window into their whole life.
But at least in a sanctuary or zoo they can live more naturally then being confined to a house.
That is a releif! I wish they had mentioned that in the video. I would have enjoyed ot more if i had known that.
Alena Gallardo hey go easy on them. Everyone jumps to conclusions lol. Also what's your number lol
Sanctuary for them is jail they got a better life now and much safer as well wake up to yourself donut
@@Christizm this is 1 in a million. These people are the extreme exception. 99.9% of bobcats (excluding this specific situation with very rich, very skilled caretakers) would do better in a sanctuary than a private home.
A lot of these people bashing sanctuaries I noticed haven't even owned a housecat nor even interacted with a bobcat.
For those unaware, I am a follow of this family and their bobcats on social media. These bobcats where bread in captivity and can never be released due to being declawed. Mick and Melissa rescued them from an animal rescue. If you follow their story they share everything, good or bad. They def do not promote having wild animals for pets for anyone who is not educated and commited.
Just wanted to share the facts because some of the comments on here and obviously from people who do not have the full story. Mick and Melissa, thank you for sharing you bobcats with us. They are lucky that you found them!

I'm not buying the rescue story. NOT. BUYING. IT. I can nearly guarantee these pets were purchased. There's nothing wrong with that but EVERYTHING wrong with lying about it to make yourself look good.

Bobcats once bond with you, they become super loyal, but by the same token, they become possessive of owning you. It's best not to have other animals in the house and best with small family. You will belong to them, and their love is immense.
They're EXTREMELY sharp, intelligent, responsive and fast thinker. Respect them and give them space.
