A Wild Canadian Lynx And A Cameraman Develop An Amazing Relationship | Wild Canadian Year

They hired a cameraman to film the cameraman
Probably his boss wanted proof he was actually doing something 😆
It actually took the cameraman 24 days to earn the trust of the cameraman so he could film him filming the hunt.
The lynx hired the cameraman to film the cameraman he hired to film him use the same cameraman in a pincer attack.
Max must be rich in the lynx community
Hahah I noticed that as well
They hired a cat as an actor for the cameraman
The lynx literally used the cameraman as a scarecrow to corner the rabbit between it and the cameraman, it's bloody brilliant.
I know, and you could see the rabbit notice th3 cameraman ad be like “uh oh” and quickly turn
We belong with them. But unfortunately we've destroyed them 😭
tri0ppy stuff 💔💔💔💔
This alone shows how naturally brilliant and clever these predator animals are. Absolutely fantastic logic - very smart

Cameraman: I have formed a very special bond with the lynx.
I wonder if Max was like "this dude is gonna STARVE if I don't show him how to hunt. Ok so the first lesson with hunting is"
It's happened with wildlife cameramen before. Especially with animals that have never seen humans before. Look up the story of the leopard seal trying to teach a human how to hunt penguins! It's really funny!
haha good one
actually i was thinking that i bet this cat's the humans clumsiness and assuming said clumsiness would prevent the him from eating it decided to follow him around to scavenge on his corpse when he dies, but in the meantime twill reap the rewards of him scaring up all other game within a 30 yard radius
@@MonumentToSin That was freaking amazing. Leopard seals are scary as hell and this HUGE one was sticking live penguins in the cameraman's face. LOL.

jeezus I just realized it. Don't forget the drone though

Someone needs to make a movie out of this
The cameraman's cameraman had a serial stalker who was being trailed by a determined ex-cop dragged out of retirement, who himself is trying to stay one step ahead of the crooked Mounty chief who wanted him off the case. Bigfoot watched it all play out, mildly amused.

Even the Canadian Lynx was polite after stalking and catching that snowshoe rabbit by apologizing for that PG-13 violent film scene, offering to do another take! 😂

I know Canadians are supposed to be friendly but this Canadian lynx takes it to the next level😂
Lynx be like “Ok dude, if you gonna follow me around, ima at least make you useful.”
I grew up in the woods, and we had the elusive lynx around us my whole upbringing. No-one ever saw it, we'd sometimes see tracks in the snow when out walking deep in the woods, but that's it.
Then in my 20s I got two kittens. And lynx tracks in the snow started to appear around my house on a daily basis. I usually had a window open for my kittens to get in and out, so I was kinda worried. One day I got home, the two kittens had brought a big bird inside and feathers were littered all across the room. I assumed they found a dead bird, it was too big for them to catch, probably a juvenile blackbird(not yet fully black). Then, I noticed the kittens, who were about 6-7 months old, started leaving mice outside. And every morning the mice would be gone, and new lynx tracks would be seen around the place they would leave the mice. In the end I saw the lynx crossing the fields, and I took my cats and lifted them up so they'd get a look. It's hard to know what a cat is thinking, but they looked very comfortable and familiar with the lynx. It's the first time I ever saw a real lynx, and it didn't look too bothered about me being there at all.
Maybe the lynx had lost her own kittens and was thus attracted to my kittens? They started mutually feeding each other? It's one of the most precious and weirdest experiences of my life, lynx has been one of my favourite animals since I was a kid.
They're my absolute fave of all the big cats! So gorgeous!

But seeing the wild live outside my window or when I went for a walk was the most amazing thing in my 38 years except being a paramedic firefighter trying to help someone and succeed and changing there worst day of their life possibly to be there best! Being with family is the best, saving a life is the 2nd best and seeing native wild life untouched by man in there home is the 3rd! :-) Dressing up and being out there for hours in the bitter cold and heat that can cook an egg is a awesomeness of a human being that is a great thing for humanity!

I believe some of these very intelligent animals sometimes do become socialized to certain humans but I think most states in USA have laws against "keeping" or "harassing" these animals
if you are a cat it is very dangerous to approach a human in the wild as many of the humans may be inclined to take a shot at you! (and they do take livestock and poultry)

How amazing that the Lynx actually trusted the cameraman to get that close to him so often, especially when hunting & resting. Beautiful cats they are.
That guy has an insane amount of patience, props to him for continuously trying to get the shot.
Photographers and cameramen are a patient bunch, sitting for hours upon hours just for one shot. Combing through a hundred "exact same" pictures to get the light just right.
Wildlife camera operators go to amazing lengths to get the footage. There's a behind the scenes from Netflix's wildlife series that shows how they filmed it over 3 years.

Honestly i think the most interesting thing about this is that this is possibly a look back to the very beginning of how cats and even dogs became domesticated. Some saw the humans as a non threat and carried a more friendly nature, like this lynx, most likely learned that usually where there were humans there was food, and eventually developed a beneficial coexistence.

@@jasond.valentine5931 Roomate.
That lynx is smart! He literally used the camera man to his advantage to catch the rabbit. He moved around the rabbit until the rabbit was directly between him and the camera man, and then chased the rabbit directly at the camera man. You can see at one point just as the rabbit is running past the tree, it sees the camera man and appears to be caught of guard (5:24) which makes him veer left but he loses some balance and the lynx catches up to the rabbit in no time! What a brilliant strategy!
I don’t know why but I read that last sentence in a British accent. 😂
Punjabi accent
I find it amazing actually, and it kinda proves a theory I have that canines weren't the only creatures ancient man bonded with through hunting. And this at least shows that wild felines are willing and able to hunt with humans.
To me, what happens feels more like the feline had been eating for days and days, catching rabbits, and realized his hunting companion had never ate one time. and as such, chased a meal directly to him. I feel like the cat was trying to give the cameraman a meal, much in the same way normal house cats will bring their owners kills for a meal.
my reasoning for this is the cat directly moved into the rabbits line of sight. these animals dont have binocular vision like we do, rabbits have vision like deer and elk n stuff, they have an extremely wide field of view, and the cat knows this. That cat could have easily came from the rear and made that kill way easier for itself, instead, it deliberately ran it towards the cameraman. I think the cat expect the camera man to catch and kill that rabbit.
When you’re right you’re right
No, you are wrong lol.

She got a bit bigger after a while, we were confused on how big she was for just a cat. We went to the vet and it turned out she was a lynx. Her and I were very close, she would cuddle me and love on me, we were that close. One day one of my dads friends left the door open and we never saw her again.
That was impressive and sad too. After all those times together with u, she never coming back to you again...
sorry to say but i bet she would’ve returned to you. something may have happened and she couldn’t return. but let’s just hope she wanted to move and start her own family. maybe one day she’ll show up with a litter of kittens, you’ll keep one and start all over again.
Beautiful story with a sad ending for you. But she heard the call of the wild and did was natural to her, you can be proud you saved the life of a beautiful animal and provided her with a foster family for a while.
Our domestic cats have had millenia to get used to humans, can't expect the same behaviors from wild animals.
What a special story. She brought much joy to your life. Even though she left to be the wild cat she was meant to be, I bet she thought of you with fondness.
Don't worry. If she goes out and never return, she knew that she's ready for the wild life. Animals knew by instinct what they could take. Especially cats. She'll surely return to you at an unexpected time, at that time, you have to be ready to let her go again because she's probably only come to check on you. And she's a lynx. the Wild is strong in her. The nature called for her and she answered it. As people said, fledglings will surely fly away from the nest. I'm sure she loves you but her nature calling is strong.
I'm sure she's fine out there.
Super impressive Mr. Ellis. Thank you for a view of this world
Awesome work man! Beautiful animals and scenery
Cat used that guy to his advantage very wise...
Very wise to make friends with your neighbour who trows a barbeque every single day...
well, he doesnt know that ya know
C.R. E. If you watch the video it's pretty clear that the cat used the camera man to trap the rabbit. It( the rabbit) sees the guy and turns right into it's(the cat's) path.
C.R. E. And that relates to my comment how, exactly? Crawl back under your bridge, troll!
C.R. E. Why exactly are you arguing with me again? You seem to agree with my original post. Like I said, "cat used that guy to his advantage, very wise." Crawl back under your bridge, troll.
