I watched it a few days ago based on this recommendation, and I completely agree. Those are two hours of my life I'll never get back. It's strange because I usually enjoy Darren's recommendations. I ended up watching the original Swayze version right after just to restore my faith in cinema. 🙄

Hello Mr. VanDam, Do you own physical media and will you have talk about it or even show your collection and what is your take on it and the Oscars are weak as hell.
Not 100% sure on this, but I believe for a movie to be eligible for an the Academy award it pretty much had to have been made by or with members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. So a French/Spanish language arthouse kind of movie simply doesn't have the industry connections it would need to get noticed. At the extreme least it would need to get purchased and promoted by one of the studios who are Academy members within the timeframe of eligibility for an award.
i am not a fan of Napoleon Bonaparte but the movie was really fascinating. Beau is Afraid did not feel as deep or thought-provoking as it lead some to believe considering it was an Ari Aster film which was a surprising let down
Wow, have to disagree with you about Road House and Conor McGregor's acting. The movie was derivative, predictable, and weak, and Conor's acting was adolescent, a bloated version of the character he plays in the UFC. Jake Gyllenhaal looked in great shape for 43 and his puppy-dog eyes saved many a scene. But he couldn't save this remake from being a thumbs-down pick.
I can't trust anything you say after claiming the Road House remake was good. It was terrible and the CGI enhanced fight scenes ( who the fuck does that for a basic fist fight ) was extremely noticeable. All the punches looked sped up which was pathetic. Patrick Swayze was beaten with a bat while doing his own stunts for the OG Road House. I wouldn't be surprised if none of these characters were ever in the same room during filming. The TV Road House sequel was better than this trash.
I like how road house had serious fights, but also kind of cartoony in areas, this way probably deranged criminal types will less likely identify with or try to incorporate certain elements into their daily activities. Although there's a few scenes that I imagine will definitely influence many, snapping the pool cue, "those your bikes outside?", etc. a curious uptick in throat punching. I bet even right now several people are beginning to walk around with a golf club, provided they have the wherewithal to access Prime.
I was one of the few who loved Beau is afraid. I thought it was a brilliant, surreal satire, especially the first hour. I'd be lying if I claimed to completely understand it. And while I enjoyed Dream Scenario, I eventually turned it off as it got pretty depressing, especially as a send up of cancel culture. Ricky Stanicky was great. Road House was surprisingly enjoyable, although Conor Mcgregor was too over the top. Damsel was atrocious, not even so bad it's good, just awful.
Darren my man you lost me! No way in heck Roadhouse was a good movie.. Terrible acting -Jake and just way too cheesy. My wife was laughing through the whole thing like it was a comedy, especially Mcgregor's role. Complete dumpster fire, no wonder the studio had this go straight to streaming... Sorry Darren as good as you are , you missed the mark on this one..
I loved the build up in the original Roadhouse, but was disappointed with the frights, so looking forward to the remake: might be the first time I've ever thought a remake was a worthwhile venture.
I walked out of napoleon after 40 minutes. It was like a violent soap opera but they marketed as a French Gladiator . If they knew that’s what people wanted why didn’t they make that movie .
Your losing Cred. TO EVEN SAY the new Road house was mediocre is a far stretch, i couldnt get past 30 ,min. The cgi is blantant af, its worse than matrix reloaded. I knew it was bottom feeding when post malone was cgi ed throwing punches. They could have atleast cgi ed some of his belly gut out. Bad is giving it too much credit. The acting is next lvl, said no one.
Seen beast, its a decent foreign flick.thought roadhouse lacked any edge tbh.i agree about the Oscars they're a complete joke how Emma Stone won Oscar again for another bad movie is beyond me. I thought Florence push deserved a nominee for a good person.i saw marmalade recently and it was OK.
Absolutely right about the Oscar’s and Oppenheimer. Decent, well made movie but not an Oscar worthy, left me cold if honest. Cillian Murphy wasn’t even the best actor in the film.
Road House was basically The Fast and Furious in a bar. It was very entertaining but not a good movie by any means. Most of the characters were cartoonish. The action was top tier ridiculous, but I like it that way sometimes. I need to see Dalton team up with Dom at some point. Make it happen Hollywood.
How dare you speak of "Damsel" and "Dragon Slayer" in the same breath. 😤 I'm usually on-board with your recommendations, but Damsel is absolutely hot garbage. Easily one of the worst movies I've seen in years. 🤢🤮

I liked Dream Scenario and Loved "American Fiction" ... i still haven’t seen Dune 2 🤦🏼♂
Thank you friend,i missed 4 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️,i like your videos and excelent recommendations, greetings from BOGOTA 🤗🤗🤗🤗
For anyone who truly want to experience what a BAD ACID TRIP is like, please watch Beau is Afraid. WOW
Some ppl saying Connor was mid in roadhouse, yet he was pretty damn good. He played himself and it worked
It’s all about woke politics. If they actually did their jobs, the results would be a 180 degree turnaround.
Damsel was awful
How much did you get paid to say that road house is good!!! Shame on you
Doug Liman was the director for Road House, prob why I liked it.
Went to see Roadhouse after this and some of the comments. Have to admit I had fun !
TeAmo VanDammmmm
Dvd back at it again with the great vids
Absolutely right about the Oscar’s and Oppenheimer. Decent, well made movie but not an Oscar worthy, left me cold if honest. Cillian Murphy wasn’t even the best actor in the film.
I friggin LOVED Roadhouse! Also please do more new release vids, this was great ❤
mgn+ is it worth the price?
Yes it definately is! 🎥🎬🎞
Roadhouse sucked
Very astute summation of the issue with movies lately pandering to kids. It's boring for everything to be centered around teenagers.
Road House was basically The Fast and Furious in a bar. It was very entertaining but not a good movie by any means. Most of the characters were cartoonish. The action was top tier ridiculous, but I like it that way sometimes. I need to see Dalton team up with Dom at some point. Make it happen Hollywood.
seen dune pt2 twice, i guess i gotta hit a 3rd time to get the IMAX experience.
Except for the cringe bathtub slurping, I really liked Saltburn.
Dream Scenario - starts out great but the ending is way too sad
How dare you speak of "Damsel" and "Dragon Slayer" in the same breath. 😤
I'm usually on-board with your recommendations, but Damsel is absolutely hot garbage. Easily one of the worst movies I've seen in years. 🤢🤮
I did enjoy The Passengers. Great lower budget movie.
