Beautiful bike. I just bought the same year LTD. Mine wasn't in as good of condition as yours, but it's coming along. I'm pulling off all the after market stuff and putting back to it's original condition. These bikes are eye candy.
I just want to tell you great video, yes I am an original owner of a 1976 Goldwing and still have it today, I was 19 years old when I bought it. Just to let you know the tool pouch on mine bought in February of 76 is made of plastic not cloth. The radiator protective screen is black not chrome or silver as yours is and the bikes came with an audible alarm when you engaged the turn signals. The alarm is a fairly large component and you should see it in the owners manual. Yes I am still running breaker point ignition. The biggest issue in riding these early wings were the carbs vacuum slide pistons were very close tolerance and with a little varnish would hang up. One of four hanging up would obviously cause issues. It usually occurred when you quickly accelerated and it wouldn't go back. It didn't hang wide open just enough that the bike ran poorly. Keep it in mind. One last item was a module they came with to automatically switch the headlight beam if one should burn out. They all failed from electrically overheating after a number of years. It is under the left faux fuel tank cover and when the time comes needs to be removed if not sooner. Here is a link to a video of my bike from a few years ago. ruclips.net/video/UL8vBwdTIUs/видео.html
I've got this exact bike in my garage atm. It was left to me by my father who past away 18 months ago. He brought the bike over to Canada from the UK in 1980. The bike is in pieces, for my father was rebuilding it, and never got it finished. As a kid, I used to go everywhere with my dad if he took the bike out. I miss him. I would love to see this bike restored, as would my mother. I just dont have the knowhow or the funds to do it =( rest in peace dad.
@@rickhilliard2545 Same here, Texas…But I have a project bike (not running) which is nº1 of my attention. GL is running pretty well at not and the fuel filter is clean.
Lost mine in a garage fire! Never got over that one. 1979 was going to be my 3rd season of riding. Fast forward to 2022, I bought a new Goldwing Tour DCT, what a dream machine!!
Hi Terry, really enjoyed the three videos on early Honda. I have the 1980 Gold Wing Interstate. I exhausted finding a naked GL1200 two years ago ( either $10K plus for a cherry one or too rough to restore). I found a one owner GL1100 in Kansas & six weeks later it showed up in Albuquerque NM. It has 13k miles. Speedometer needle broke so your information on Foreign Speedo Inc. useful as I need to have it freshed up. I'm following tips I learned from the video & must research doing vapor blasting. It's a great project but feel the love for these early Gold Wings are far to the rear of the CB750 K & CBX. I make it to Mecum Cycle Auction at South Point in Vegas & was disappointed how few Wings are represented. Maybe more people hanging on to the really great ones. Thank Again!
This bike is absolutely gorgeous! The red looks the best out of all of the colors. These 1970 GL1000 motorcycles, if properly maintained will run indefinitely. I think anybody that put a windjammer on these things should have been put in prison!😂
I had bought a new 79 when I was 19 and worked at a dealership, then later a 83 when a non-current was 3000.00. Both bikes were dogs topping out at about 105 mph. I am curious if the early wings were quicker, granted they were't built for speed but 120 would have been nicer. My 1st bike was a 450 and about as fast.
I had an identical one of these in, I think, 1976. One little thing I found on mine was a screw next to the oil sight glass. If you turn it left and right a wiper wiped the inside of the glass. I would be very interested to know if yours is the same. That’s what I call attention to detail. I loved the bike by the way. After a long trip felt so relaxed. Really appreciated the low c of g.
I think the seat strap, which most people quickly got rid of, may just be pulling into it because the cover is cosmetically correct. Yes. the 76 Bicentennial Wing had a stepped seat and all others were relatively flat but they did lean down towards the front as his does. The Bicentennial Wing was a one per dealer collectors item.
My blue 1977 is completely original with 9500 miles. It never had been accessorized. I owned a 1976 750SS and my roommate bought one of these. There was NO comparison and the 750 went away after riding the GL 1000 from Oregon to S. Calif and back. Getting a bit old for riding at 74 but occasionally get out and about.
If you know, you know. Those bikes were comically expensive at the time (just like the new ones), but you got a LOT of bike for that stack of cash. I wouldn't turn up my nose at one.
Hello everyone who is commenting I'm working on same bike and I had transmitted engine from one to another bike but need some help can anyone advise Thank you
Really nice example of the best-looking Goldwing❤
That would look great beside my 2008 Goldwing 🇺🇸
Your Honda is every model lover's wet dream... It's just gorgeous...

A true example of a classic Honda!❤️🇺🇸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing bike!! Bought one 1976 this week but yellow! Good luck for us, GW pals!
Really liked the yellow color. My 76 750 SS was yellow. My current 77 GL 1000 is dark blue.
Any chance of making a video ( or ) suggestion of replacing or cleaning fuel tank on a 76 gl1000 ?
@@rickhilliard2545 fantastic subject coincidence. Soon I’m about to do some tank cleaning on my 76’.
@deltaforceaviation7924
Good luck..to cold here to do cleaning yet.👍.

Very nice, excellent commentary and history about your bike.
My dream bike I have been riding for 53 years looking at one tomorrow with 12,000 miles on it all original red

Nice bike...I had a friend that was killed on his 76 GL1000 in 1979, He bought it new and put a lot of miles on it...great bike.

Beautiful bike. I had a green one and also had a 78. Amazing how dependable and fast they are,,, They dont register 150 mph for nothing.
I have always admired the early naked Goldwings.
I like the way the early bikes looked naked with original seat . I have been looking for one that's been setting for awhile to bring back .

Die frühen GL waren auf Geschwindigkeit angelegt. Aber tatsächlich in diesen Bereichen gefährlich.

what a good looking vintage bike !
Beautiful Example!!!! i have the Exact Same Year..& Model!! Cheers from Canada!
Think you have a later seat on it, early one's were flat. Yours has the raised passenger seat.
If your keeping it original.
Nein, der Sitzplatz ist so original für `76

Great bike, I owned one for 3 years, had problems with Old gas tank and carburation. Hi quality product, not like actual crap.
There were two reds available, well that's what I've heard , Cardinal red and Candy Antares red , which red do you think this is ? .
Wow, this looks like it just rolled of the Assembly Line in 1976.
Beautiful bike
Top GL 1000 !!
Mine looked exactly like that. 1976. Room mate was bumped by a car from the side and went end over end and was destroyed.
Curious, how much this sold for?
Beautiful bike in mint condition! Did you change the points for electronic ignition?

Not 12 miles it was 1.2 miles.

Is this bike for sale???
Sold already on BaT Auction
Did very well.
@@Vmaxspeedyt Any idea what it went for?
