For me Spielberg's best movie is Schindler's List. It is one of the most terrifying movies of all time and I suppose a really realistic depiction of the Holocaust. As a German, I've heard a lot about that probably biggest crime in history, but Schindler's List made me really understand how cruel the Nazis were.

+TempestHomicidal What you said is true but most of his war flicks or movies that take place during a war are more of his serious movies. For example, Empire of the Sun, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan took place during World War II. Lincoln took place during the Civil War and War Horse took place during World War I.

+1985cactus Well, they do need to bring in a large enough audience to make a profit. RUclips doesn't make as much money as you may think, so they need to appeal to a broad audience.
However, I do agree that they should have cut out the choices that obviously weren't going to win (A.I, Crystal Skull, Lost World) and replaced them with stronger contenders (Private Ryan, Schindler's List, etc.)

If it is just based on favorite, mine is Catch Me if you Can. I loved the fact that it was based on a true story and really showed off Spielberg's range of skills as a director. This would have been a great question for movie fights and seeing which opinions come up. Or if you did this with more directors as well. I loved the Nolan one. Tarantino would be pretty cool

I couple of years ago I got a chance to see Raiders of the Lost Ark on the big screen. The first time I saw it on the big screen I was a little kid. Now, at nearly age 40, getting a chance to see that movie in the theater was one of my best movie going experiences. Raiders is like your favorite old record. An album that timelessly spans the decades without losing appeal. Sure the remastered MP3 will be louder and cleaner, but it lacks warmth and feeling. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my all time favorite movie. From its practical effects and stunts, to its cinematography, to its colors and sound. It's the standard all action movies get compared to.

Jaws wins by fin. The "Iconic" soundtrack. More memorable and terrifying death scenes than Jurassic Park. To this day the film still messes with my head when I swim in an ocean. Tension is incredible, probably his biggest directorial achievement given the production and logistical difficulties making this film. Without Jaws there is no Jurrasic Park. Jaws is the Daddy.. I would still go with Jaws being my favorite. In some ways, the shark is just a catalyst to our human reactions to things. First it's about keeping the beaches safe for tourist money. When that fails, then three men from different life experiences must unite to battle the common enemy. Spielberg made the perfect film of human behavior using a killer shark plot.

Wow... That was intense. Actually I'm with Christian on the fact that Tintin is a very underrated movie. I saw it a few weeks ago and I didn't remember it to be that good. It made me think of the classic 80s Spielberg. It even has little homages to his older movies in the way it's "filmed", the way the camera moves... I really loved it.
The rest... Quoting Andy, "it's tough". I remember going to see The Last Crusade to the theater when I was a boy and being absolutely blown away in a way I can't even put together now. But on the other hand, I started learning how to model and animate on a computer thanks to Jurassic Park, I remember being on the edge of the seat and, to be honest, quite scared with Close Encounters, Jaws is a PERFECT movie. My wife hadn't seen it, we saw it a couple of months ago and she absolutely loved it. I don't know... I guess it's easier to say Spielberg has been there all my life providing me with many of the best movies and some of the best experiences I've ever had.

This is probably one of the best videos you have made, I am glad you have gotten away from superheroes for a while and focusing on cinematic experiences. But this is honestly a tough question because like everyone, I grew up with Spielberg, But if i go back far enough, I think my first Spielberg movie was either Hook or E.T, honestly can't remember, but I think all his movies bring such joy and sadness, but I think Munich is very underated and so is Empire of the Sun! Empire of the Sun probably connected more to me as a child at the time because the film is filmed through the eyes of a child and you feel scared when Jim is scared and happy when is happy and confused when he is confused, honestly think him bringing history, character and story into that one film is an achievement itself. I honestly can't answer this tho because his movies are all so different haha.

Best Spielberg movie: Schindler's List. Do you want an emotional punch to the gut? This is that movie. It's brilliantly shot and executed. It put Liam Neeson on the map. It beautifully depicts the ugliness of the Holocaust while telling us a real story. The best Spielberg blockbuster is Jurassic Park. I know Indiana Jones is iconic but it doesn't appeal to me that much, and I love adventure movies. Jurassic Park gives me chills. It's score is electric and full of emotion. The dinosaurs are incredible and hold up today.

Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws are perfect movies from start to finish, with no wasted scenes. Of those two, I think I give the SLIGHT edge to Jaws. Jaws had to create tension with strong character development and acting since we see so little of the shark, and it just MAY be the best character developed film I have ever seen.
