I was accosted by a HUGE swarm of ladybugs right as I entered the church. I walked down the aisle intentionally trying to shake my skirts a little extra with each step. It was so funny. No one noticed but my maid of honor and father because it happened at the last second going in and we were the only ones there. I have this image in my mind of the aisle behind me strewn with rose petals and confused ladybugs but I was too happy to check at the time. I've heard a single ladybug landing on you is good luck. Married 25+ years. I love ladybugs! ;)

My daughter was professional latin ballroom dancer, so at her wedding everyone was expecting something spectacular for their first dance. However, her husband, by his own admission has :" no sense of rhythm and 2 left feet " and she refused to show off because it wasn't about her but them as a couple. She choreographed a simple slow dance , comfortable to do for him, beautiful to watch and general consensus was that THEY looked amazing on the dance floor.

I have a feeling she didn't want to make the day a dance showcase either. My family is not dancey lol, my father daughter song was Sixteen Tons! (He's gone now but dancing to a labor movement song at my wedding was so us, one of my fave memories, rabble rousing is a long tradition on my dad's side).

The issue of the bride and groom not getting a nice meal at their own wedding is a really common problem. They're shaking hands, hugging well-wishers, running to the bathroom, cutting the cake and doing that photo op, perhaps changing into their reception outfits, etc and they often don't get to the buffet table until dead last.
I worked for a caterer years ago who had seen this happen way too many times. So when we'd bring the food to the event, she'd fix the bride and groom beautiful plates herself before we did anything else. A sampler dessert plate, mains, an appetizer plate and make them look beautiful. Then she'd cover them and set them out of the way. Only then would we get the signal to set out the buffet. All staff knew that you do NOT touch those dishes and protect them from anyone who didn't get the memo.
When the time came for the bride and groom to relax and enjoy their meal, they'd be served properly, as if they were at a restaurant. Their slice of cake would even be tucked away the second the cake cutting was done. (And the top layer would be packaged to go home. Tradition.)
That ended the disappointment of only eating scraps off the buffet at their own wedding.

so well thought out, I get social anxiety just thinking about all those people (and germs, yeah one of those, sorry) but one thing I always think about is how exhausted the couple has to be and thinking they go to eat and there's nothing? I'm newly diabetic. That made me upset bc when you're on the go, you push it to the limit, that would have made me cry so bad! Thank you for sharing bc it made me feel so good knowing someone understands what that might feel like, you don't have to be diabetic to have low blood sugar and feel tired, irritable, or emotional, we've all been there. Some people plan for years! I'll never understand the selfishness of people. Great wedding planner, now I understand why people pay them a lot of money. 😂❤

This is so true. At my wedding, I was 6 months pregnant so the hunger was real! Was up at 6 to decorate and get ready, Nerves had me skip breakfast and the ceremony was at one so figured I'd just tough it out a bit longer. It was nearly 3 by the time ceremony, photos, signing the certificate and mingling with guests was done. I was so HANGRY but trying to keep a smile on my face. I sat down, someone brought me a plate and as soon as I stabbed my fork into it, the officiant comes over and tells me it's time to cut the cake (all other guests had eaten at this point). I nearly growled I was so hungry and just said no, it's my wedding and I'm taking my turn to eat. People made speeches while we did so. When I was done, I agreed to cut the cake. We were out of there and headed to our honeymoon a little after 4. Everyone was so eager to go that I didn't even get to dance (which anyone that knows me, knew I loved it, went to all school dances and was on the dance team). It's been 14 years and I'm still a little salty about it and now my husband and I feel too awkward to dance with each other in a fun romantic way - so we just dance in a silly fun way with our 5 kids, which they did NOT inherit their skills from me 😂 it's interesting but we have fun. I get a little bummed thinking back, but my marriage is strong and we decided for one of our big anniversaries we'll do it better as a vow renewal.

This did turn out to be a very treasured memory of me and Granny together as I assisted her getting ready for my wedding before the rest of my family came back to get us to the church. My worst thing was when we went out to get sunset photos, my grandmother started giving away our centerpieces. Not just the flowers, the boxes we built after treating the wood to weather it for over 6 months. So while we're taking photos we're watching our guests leave in large groups. Apparently they assumed the wedding was over since people were taking the centerpieces. So my grandmother effectively ended our wedding hours early....

My grandma was awful at my older cousin’s wedding last year. My cousin (groom) was the first of her grandkids to get married. I will be the second next year when my fiancé and I tie the knot. The first sign of trouble was getting her there. The wedding was in Shreveport, LA and we live near Nashville, TN. She lives near Columbus, OH so we took her down with us. She was insufferable the whole ride there. Then comes the actual wedding the next day.
She makes a scene bc she didn’t get to sit in the front. She makes a scene bc she didn’t get to sign the guest book. She pretends to loudly cry in the middle of the ceremony. She starts clinging to the father of the bride. She then clings to the groom’s brother, my oldest cousin. This cousin is single and looks like Thor. Tall, blonde, and ripped. She refuses to let him go. My sister asks her if she can dance with our cousin bc our cousins are like brothers to us. Grandma YANKS HER BY HER HAIR in the middle of the dance floor during the reception. And then during slow dances, she tried to yank my fiancé (then bf) away from me. Several months later, she grabbed him by the face and tried to forcibly kiss him but that’s a story for another day.
And that is why my grandmother will not be invited to my wedding.

I have a family member who hoards food like that and we’ve had to put the smack down more than once. Taking a box of food when the bride hasn’t had any is such bad manners.
Also- a lot of these situations could’ve been avoided if people just grow some balls and communicate CLEARLY AND HONESTLY with guests and family. No, you can’t bring your baby here, it’s a party for grown ups. You’ll need to either stay in or find a sitter. No, you cannot take this cabin that we paid for. You’ll need to find other accommodations. We’d really appreciate it if you don’t take all the cheesecake- the bride hasn’t even gotten any yet. Say it firmly, with a smile. Then thank them for coming.

That snicker quickly turned to open laughter that spread across the church like wildfire! Everyone is laughing because my beloved is notoriously gruff. I'm just staring at the preacher struggling to maintain a straight face when I feel my beloved's hands twitch, turn to look and see that he has turned purple in an attempt to contain his laughter! I lost it! It was a solid five minutes before the uproar settled down enough to continue with our ceremony. Still going strong 23.5 years later!

Every single member of my immediate family has at least one anaphylactic allergen. So the story about the caterer infuriates me. Moreover I work in medical and I can’t tell you how furious I get when I find out that the patient is there to see us because somebody at a restaurant or catering company screwed up and gave them something they we’re allergic to. So again thank you Charlotte for telling this person to sue and for sharing the message that food allergies can be fatal and should be taken seriously. So many people randomly dismiss it and it can literally kill someone.

    True stories from my wedding.
-The woman who did our cakes called in tears from the reception before we got there. She had baked the cake prior, thawed it to decorate it, froze it again then thawed it to bring to the reception that morning. It collapsed. It had molded. We used the bachelor cake. She sent us a hand written letter of apology the following week in which we feared that she might actually take her life as a result (she didn't.)
    - Father in law, big drinker, bought cases of booze for an open bar. As a result:
-- Future sister in law kept paying a dollar to dance with me and eventually felt me up.
-- Two fights broke out after we left involving in laws and friends. This resulted in 3 arrests, a broken windshield when someone attacked another's car with a champagne bottle
-- Friend of ours fell on the floor dancing and one of the bridesmaids proceeded to mount and dry hump him.
    - 2 people spent the night in jail.
    - At least one divorce can be attributed to the event.
    - Cops set up across the road from the center and just started pulling people over for DUI as they left the parking lot.
Fortunately this all happened after we'd left. Her dad called us on our honeymoon and I watched my wife cry as she got the stories.

My grandma asked me beforehand what I'd do if a parent passed or some emergency like that.
Honestly? It's ten days (the funeral would probably have been after our return); and also, what good does it do me to know - are we gonna cancel the rest? Are we gonna keep enjoying the honeymoon with that knowledge. Nah.

My dad was walking me down the aisle, our arms linked, as I held my Bible and my bouquet. Keep in mind, we're both very introverted, so our minds were more or less focused on making it all the way down to the altar as quick as we reasonably could. I felt beautiful, radiant, and so excited to be getting married to my wonderful husband. We're about halfway there when I realized that my foot has gotten tangled with my dress. I panic, because I don't want to stop to fix it and make everyone think I'm trying to make a break for it, but I also don't know how to discreetly untangle my foot from 3 layers of dress. During all of this, my dad has carried on at his speed walk pace, having remained blissfully unaware of my issue. At this point, I notice my grooms expression turn from one of adoration to amusement as he and everyone else in attendance realize what's going on (still minus my father). I try to stagger the last few feet to the end of the aisle without tripping as I hear whispers of "she's caught on her dress" from the attendees. Finally, I make it to the end, and my sister and best maid of honor in the world rushes over to fix the skirt, somehow making it look as though she's only fixing the train (my savior). My dad still had no clue until after the ceremony.

The allergy situation is actual grounds for a lawsuit. They can sue her for medical bills and probably the cost of the whole ceremony.
*Edit* I did some digging for you guys on the original post. She never did mention her allergy to Raspberries to the caterer, but she did about the little ones nut allergies. If the kids ate the nuts then yes there would be possibilities that the police could have been involved at that point and arrested for whatever 3 charges they wanted that would cover an malicious attack to cause an allergic reaction. However for the bride since she ordered a recipe that didn't contain her allergy, raspberries, she didn't mention her allergy. Of which the caterer changed and unknowingly added the allergen into the recipe. In this case with the bride no arrest could be made because as OP kinda clarified she only knew about the Littles' allergies and not the brides. As of this it is a Lawsuit and no arrest could be made, at most, they could have called the cops to tell the caterer to expect to have to go to court. Unfortunately though with this information I found... this probably wouldn't hold up in court.

I knew someone who worked security for a wedding and told me an older couple, second marriage, lived out of town but rented the hall for the convenience that most invited guests lived closer to that particular city. After the catering was set up, adequate for the number of guests invited, the DJ was waiting for guests to arrive before starting the music. After an hour, the bride and groom were asked if the guests got the right date and location since nobody had yet shown up. After two hours, the guests at the hall were the DJ, security, caterer team , hall owner and married couple, probably a dozen people in all who ended up eating and dancing with the couple for about 45 minutes ending the event very early and taking many leftovers home.

We're no longer a hotel - we're corporate housing and CAN NO LONGER DO YOUR WEDDING!!!". One week... that's all I had to find a new place to block all of my guests' rooms, find a reception hall, move the caterer/florist/DJ, etc.... 7:42 this hits way too close to home for me, not from a wedding but a 'graduation' party. My mother decided when I graduated we would wait until my younger brother was back home so then "everyone would be there and it would be better." She said. TWO. YEARS. LATER. Still no graduation party, and by then I didn't care and didn't want one. Welp, my younger brother was finally home, and my mom decided to have a surprise party for 'me' ( this is where I add I have anxiety, and a surprise party is my idea of hell ) and invited a bunch of family members and got a big cake. Only 3 family members showed up out of the 30+ she invited, she then proceeded to tell me all the excuses they gave for not coming ( all while I slowly got more and more depressed and angry because the party was never for me to begin with it was for HER to make herself look good in front of my younger brother ) "It is 2 years after the fact, why would you have a party??" one said. "I thought you weren't having one?" said another, " I thought this was for ____ not ___". So I got to sit there at what my mother said was 'my' graduation party, all while she tried to show my younger brother the neat things she bought, asking him if it is good, and he just keeps giving me the 😬 face and cringing. Later that year I went to a family xmas party ( the LAST one I went to ) and while sitting next to my mother had people asking her "why would you have a party 2 years after the fact? Nobody is going to go to that!" so I chimed in and said " Yeah, thanks for punishing me for my mother's stupidity, it was a party I didn't even know about but, thanks for not showing up and being a bitch, good job."

God... at my wedding we did this beautiful candle ceremony which was supposed to represent the flame of our love or whatever. We both burnt our fingers lighting the thing and ended up with matching burn marks. Our marriage didn't make it to the first anniversary so the flames of love really had spoken! Also my new MIL went around telling everyone it wasn't actually our real wedding and we would have a bigger better one later. She did it because she always needed everything to be "the best" and appearances were very important to her. She seemed to be the only one who felt our wedding wasn't up to her standards and so went around telling that lie which was news to me and my new husband. When I heard about it I asked who exactly was going to be paying for this lavish 2nd wedding we were apparently going to have, and the answer was not her.

There was a case in England not long ago when the manager of an Indian takeaway was actually sent to prison for causing the death of a girl allergic to nuts. When ordering the food, she had specifically and very carefully asked which foods did not have nuts because she was seriously allergic. They assured her that the food she had picked did not, and even labelled it as ‘no nuts’, knowing full well that it did contain nuts. She had a severe anaphylactic shock and died in hospital. The judge on sentencing said that a prison sentence was just because they had been aware of the situation and deliberately ignored her needs.

My oldest sister, widowed at 42, remarried 4 years later & ruined her own wedding. First the flowers she had ordered were not in the church. Next her groom looked at the minister as he spoke his vows, after she had ordered him to look at HER repeatedly beforehand.
After the ceremony, she found all the flowers she’d ordered in the kitchen of the church. She went into “meltdown” - her lifelong word for a full-blown toddler tantrum - at age 46. Another sister corralled her in the ladies’ room where she continued to roar, foam & tear at her dress. She threw her diamond rings in a toilet. The attending sister had to tackle her to stop her from flushing & then in her fancy clothes had to fish the rings out of the potty.
Finally, on to the reception. Several guests had their children with them. Bride announced “no children allowed” &, since nobody had made babysitting arrangements, they had to leave with their kids.
She had place-card seating. All her friends were up front close to the bridal party table. All the grooms invitees were tucked away in remote corners. She swaned around - table to table - never going near the outcast groom’s friends. Not even an hello.
Fast forward 20 years. They’re still married. I’m standing in line with her husband, waiting to pick up a meal to take home to her. Out of the blue, he says to me, “I started hating her on our wedding day. It’s only gotten worse.” All I said was, “Wow.”

My dad ministered 2 of his friends' wedding. A month before the wedding, the caterer backed out, as well as the DJ, both of whom were family members. Day of the wedding, the bride asked if I wanted to come to their Airbnb and get ready with the wedding party. It was then that she pulled me aside and asked if I minded being the "DJ". All I would have to do was press play on an iPad when it came time for her to come down the aisle. I agreed, despite being anxious, because I wanted to help. Fast forward to the venue. Groom comes up to me, frantic, asks if I had the speaker. "what speaker?" Apparently, someone was supposed to give me a Bluetooth speaker to play the wedding song on when the time came. No one had. He gets a bit snappy with me, but my dad gets him to back off and then calms me down from having a panic attack (I have anxiety btw). Turns out one of the guests had a speaker, so they let us use it. Safe! So I spend some time fiddling around with the iPad and speaker, making sure they connect properly and making sure everything is charged. So, it's go time. I sit in the back of the pews to make sure that the bride can hear the music, and so that I'm out of sight. My dad gives the cue and... Nothing.
    I'M OUT OF WIFI RANGE!!
That's right. The venue's Wi-Fi didn't reach to the actual outdoor area they were getting married at and the bride didn't download the song, so when I hit play, nothing happened. I begin to panic. Like full on can't breathe panic attack. My dad came to see what's wrong and I tell him the dilemma. So, we start walking backwards toward the main building to see when I will get back into range. I was in the parking lot before it would connect. Now it's time to test the Bluetooth range. How far away from the iPad can I get the speaker before they disconnect? So my dad grabs the speaker and walks back to the seating area, placing it on the last pew where I'd been sitting. I check the iPad. They're still connected, thank god.
So I crank the volume all the way up, and my dad does the same on the speaker. I cross all my fingers and toes, wait for the signal again, then hit play.
    IT WORKED!!!
I watched the wedding from the parking lot, crying my eyes out as I came down from the adrenaline rush of the panic attack. Afterward, at the reception the bride got drunk and couldn't stop giving me hugs and telling me how amazing I was for working things out. Most stressful wedding I've ever been to.

We where together for several years and had moved from Wisconsin to Philly for a couple years before I asked her to marry me. We where having a small almost exclusively family wedding in my brothers yard. Her mother and brother and several other of her relatives said they where coming. She had called them just a couple days before and they said they would be on the way soon.
So the big day comes and we have not heard from her family, Her brother was meant to walk her down the isle. She was frantic, she couldn't get a hold of anyone and well the wedding is about to start. left with no other choice, she asked my oldest brother to give her away and we got hitched.
We had a slightly bigger reception with more family and friends scheduled for the evening. My wife franticly calling thinking the worse may have happened. She finally got a hold of them that evening at the reception, they had never planned on coming all along. several sisters, brothers and her mother just ghosted her after saying they would be there. She was an emotional wreck.

My mom occasionally talks about her disaster of a wedding reception.
-Her friends decided to decorate/prank her car by putting little bows all over it and she had just got it painted red, so when all the bows got taken off, there were little pink squares all over the car.
-They had also filled the car up to the roof with round cereal, (think corn pops) so when she opened the car door they all spilled out and the people who owned the parking lot she was in came out and yelled at her to clean up the mess she made. She did, still in her wedding dress mind you, but she couldn't get all the cereal out of her car and maggots' ended up infesting it days later.
-The only thing her husband insisted on during the wedding planning was to pick the first dance song, she was so excided to see what he picked and didn't find out what it was until the DJ called them up for it. It was "Used to love her" by Guns and Roses. (Look up the lyrics if the title isn't enough to convince you how bad of a choice it was for a first dance song, much less a wedding.)
-She also couldn't find her husband for the first dance, so she went to the bathroom in tears, only to find him there kissing one of her bridesmaids. When she asked what the heck he was doing he simply told her to shut up and that it was his last day of freedom.
-When she eventually managed to get him on the floor for their dance, they danced for about five seconds before MIL drunkenly pushed her out of the way proclaiming loudly she was dancing with her son.

At my wedding our original cake fell before we had a chance to see it. My elderly neighbor who was a retired baker made it for us, free of charge. She felt so bad that she went back home during our ceremony and made a quick one tier cake. She arrived with the cake right after we finished our first dance. It was adorable and delicious. But that wasn't the worst part. My aunt, who invited her co-works to my wedding without our permission, gave all the leftover food and cake to them. My husband and I barely ate during the reception do to all the picture taking and other wedding shenanigan's. We only had one bite of the cake for the pictures. A couple at my church got married around 6 years ago (they’re divorced now). I offered to make cupcakes instead of a sheet cake, as it would make it easier to serve, and the wedding cake. I asked how many guests replied that they would come. The groom said that he had invited 150 people from his AA and Narcotics Anonymous groups. I told him that it didn’t mean that 150 people would show up. I asked the bride. Same response. So, I made over 200 cupcakes (for just in case, plus because of everyone from church that would attend). Another lady from church was making the food and she had been told the same thing as I was told. Simply because the couple expected all 150 people would show up even without confirmation. Only 2 people out of the 150 people that they invited from their groups showed up. Two. And, because this couple couldn’t afford much, the other lady and I did everything out of our own pockets. Very frustrating all around. We had tried to get them to confirm the invites, but they believed that since they had invited 150 people, all would show. We tried to get them to understand otherwise, but they wouldn’t hear any different.

My wedding was outside in a courtyard of a beautiful stone church that was built in 1908. During the ceremony, a few bees decided that they really liked all the fresh flower bouquets we were holding. I've been told that at one point one was crawling up the back of my dress under my veil, and my sisters (also bridesmaids) said they were trying to land on their bouquets and some even walked on their hands! The minister snapped his binder closed trying to get one that was buzzing around his head during the ceremony and everyone laughed lol. At the time, I was just praying I wouldn't get stung because I'm allergic to bees! They didn't sting me, and now it's a really funny memory. The most common comments I get about my wedding are 1. The bees. and 2. How much fun our wedding was :)

I’ve been to a few authentic Indian weddings. And I’ve seen Indians taking the food/desserts from the reception home in Tupperwares or the catering people will provide the take out containers if you ask them.
The best wedding I went to was where an uncle of the bride asked the dessert bar to pack up 6 containers of ice cream (Indian weddings serve ice cream for desserts not a cake) for him to take home.
Found out from the bride later that the ice cream melted by the time he got home (1.75hrs car drive home). He called her and her mother and complained about the ice cream melting. He didn’t take the 6 small containers he took 6 9lbs tubs of ice cream. No one at the wedding got any ice creams. Needless to say he was not invited to the bride’s brothers wedding a year later!

We had an amazing reception with a ton Of delicious food! However….there was ONE item that wasn’t necessarily fancy but was an homage to our relationship which was several Chick-fil-A nuggets trays. It’s a long story but we ordered 10 trays of nuggets to be mixed in with the other fancy foods. The one thing I wanted was Chick-fil-A nuggets because it meant something to my new husband and I. When I was saying goodbye after they said the nuggets were gone I saw plates and plates and plates of an eaten nuggets or half eaten nuggets in the trash. Everyone had filled their entire plate with Chick-fil-A nuggets and didn’t even leave a crumb. As silly as it was, it was so sad to me because that was the one thing that we requested to represent our years long dating relationship that started when my husband was 14 years old and could only afford to take me to Chick-fil-A for dates. Despite asking my family and the caterers and everyone else to please save me a few nuggets to represent how we started, I didn’t get a single one and was so sad to see how many were in the trash. I know it doesn’t matter and I know in the scheme of things it’s just a small insignificant thing but at the time it made me so sad

My best friend and her late husband are HUGE outdoorsy people. My BFF is a barrel racer and her husband loves hunting and often takes his dog out with him and uses him to help look for the deer/ducks/hogs etc. Naturally they wanted to incorporate that in their wedding somehow. So my best friend rode her horse down the aisle. Well they had practiced with the horse before and she (BFF) thought things would be fine. They had a wedding arch in the shape of a V. I don't know WHAT the horse was thinking but when my BFF's dad opened the gate to let her out she barreled full speed toward the arch and started making the same route around and through the arch pillars that she does when barrel racing! We were CRACKING UP! Towards the end of the ceremony my BFF's husbands dog (who was the ring bearer) was sitting beside his owner being real patient and good...that is until it was time to release the doves. Bless his heart before he (BFF's husband) could even comprehend what was happening the dog went BERSERK and started chasing the doves all through the pasture (luckily the husband let go of the leash super fast or else he'd have been dragged around by the dog)! Later my best friend and her husband said they should've been paying more attention to the animals because looking back they'd both shown signs something was gonna go haywire (no pun intended). My BFF said before the ceremony when they were riding down the aisle she DID have to hold onto the reins a little tighter cause the horse kept trying to gallop. And her husbands dog HAD been periodically eyeing the bird cage so obviously he was waiting for something to happen too. Hands down the most HILARIOUS things I have ever seen at a wedding!

There's an incriminating photo of me taken right after the ceremony at my wedding where I'm wild-eyed and thinking, "Holy shit. What. Have. I. Just. Done?!"
For context, I was super young (23) and never wanted a ceremony/reception, and would have preferred just going to the courthouse. My mother pressured me into having a big wedding because "I was her only daughter," which really translated to, "You're getting the wedding I [my mother] really wanted." When buying my wedding dress, for example, by the time I had tried on 10 dresses, I was hot, irritated, overwhelmed, and seriously considering throwing myself into traffic. I begrudgingly put on number 11 and although I specifically stated I DID NOT want a strapless ballgown, my mother started crying happy tears so I admitted defeat and ended up with an effing strapless ballgown I hated. My husband-to-be (who was 10 years older) was also very pushy and he was behaving in ways that I can now identify as abusive.
By the time I wanted to bail on the entire thing, my parents had already spent a ton of money so I felt like I had to go through with it or I'd be disappointing my mother. The wedding was beautiful, of course, and it was wonderful to see my extended family, but I absolutely hate being the center of attention and could only feel dark sense of dread.
Seventeen days after we got married, my husband and I both ended up in jail for 48 hours for domestic abuse because he tried to strangle me to death and I gave him a bloody nose trying to get him off me. I lasted 5 more years with this man.
I've been happily divorced now for 4 years and have a good life. Listen to your gut ladies, and don't let anyone bully you into a wedding (or marriage) you don't want. 🖤🥔

I have been to several weddings, the one thing I hate is when the couple is pulled in multiple directions and barely get to eat. I became a unofficial "dad " of a couple from my work. I had the privilege of being " dad " to the young man. The young lady as well. When they got engaged, I had the privilege of walking her down the aisle, sitting with her mother.
Before the wedding ended, I ordered some basic food... burgers and fries for the wedding party because I knew they would have no time to eat at all. They were all relaxed and able to enjoy themselves; with their blessing, I kept certain things moving, like the receiving line, helping the MOH collect all the gifts in the MOB's car for security reasons, getting mothers with small children, elderly, those with mobility issues first through the buffet line, communication with the planner with the dances, and finally making sure the new couple got to sit down with their meals. Anyone who tried to get them to meet or do whatever, I and the mom told them after they are done eating. I suggest getting the wedding party food before the guests pull them every direction...its their wedding, they are not there to be master and mistress of ceremonies.

My mother brought, as her plus 1, my ex fiancé who she adored to my wedding. Then took her to the reception where she'd introduce my ex as her daughter and my new wife as the girl her son just married. Needless to say, we weren't happy with that, but chose to ignore it. Then my ex came up to me, I thought to congratulate me only to whisper that she just realized she lost me forever. O.O All I could say was, "you did that a while ago."

That is what they say though; "The worse the wedding, the greater the marriage".
Mine was pretty stressful: bridesmaids showing up late to hair appointment, groom's cake falling apart on the way to the reception (he insisted on a croque en bouche), a rouge bridesmaid, stolen shoes, kids at a 'no kids wedding', ect. It's been 6 years, and we're still doing good.
PS- your hair looks amazing! 😍

I'm single, so no personal wedding stories, but my siblings weddings went pretty well. The closest we came to disaster was when my sister's groom nearly passed out due to emotions. He stayed upright (barely), but afterward I learned that I was not the only person who had a plan in case he went down. The entire group of six of us (1 MOH, 2 bridesmaids, 1 best man, and 2 groomsmen) were prepared to dash in if need be. Great minds think alike. At my brother's wedding the bouquet toss was kind of funny. When the bride threw the bouquet, all but one person (not me) dove as far away as possible. The one gal who stood her ground really wanted to get married, everyone else had reasons for not wanting to catch it (in my case, my broody aunt and my mother would likely have tried to arrange a marriage for me). The weddings were 16 and 14 years ago now and both couples are still happily married and I am still contentedly single.

I went to a wedding, with my grandparents, of people I didn't know. When it was time for the bouquet toss, the people at the table we were sitting at pressured me to participate. Of course, I caught the bouquet. I was standing at the back and not making an effort to catch it. One of the bridesmaids was really upset. She said she was supposed to catch it. I tried to give it to her but she said it didn't count. A little girl sitting at a table near by said she wanted it, I gave it to her.

When I was 9, I was at my aunt wedding. Everyone besides me knew that one of the groomsmen promised that he'll marry his girlfriend if she will catch the bouquet. Everything that I knew - my dad jokingly said to me that my older sister (she was 17) shouldn't catch it.
EVERYONE stepped back. Aunt threw the bouquet straight to that girl's hands. And I caught it right before she touched it.
My aunt was furious. That girl was devastated. Her boyfriend was happy as ****. That couple was supposed to drive us home so it was a fun ride. They broke up 4 months after that wedding - I think I saved them both, because he was a moron.
Fun fact: it was 13 years ago and still not even one single girl from the wedding got married. Guess they still waiting for me😅

In my 20s I had what I thought was a close group of work friends and friends from hs. I had a birthday at a bar and no one showed up. My twin that year had a birthday party I wasn't allowed to go to because she wanted my ex and his wife to go. I've never had a birthday party since and I am petrified of it happening if I ever end up getting married. I empathize with the story where no one showed up. That is such a just awful feeling in general but to have planned a wedding and have that happen..... I cried hearing that.

Mine was an absolute sh!tshow. It started the night before, when we had the wedding party (including my mom and step dad as well as my husbands) come out and stay at a big house on the property where we were having the wedding. My mom, who I’ve never had a good relationship with, shows up and immediately starts causing problems. After unpacking she can’t find her car keys and starts accusing everyone of stealing them, most of all my husbands best man, that she ended up burning on the back of the neck with a lighter that she was “playfully” teasing him with. Fast forward to the next day where she wakes me up on my wedding day to tell me that she thinks she is going to leave my step dad. Among other things, a friend that I was going to pay to do my hair and makeup arrives so late that I have to do it myself. The person doing our flowers was also extremely late, takes forever to set up, and arrives with huge over the top arrangements when I just wanted something simple (for example I am petite and my bouquet was so huge that it took up my entire torso). On top of everything my husbands step dad (who’s family owns the property) announces that we won’t be having a reception at all claiming he never knew about one (even after planning it with him and telling him we hired a dj) and wants everyone to leave the property by 6pm. Thankfully the dj let us have the reception at his house but this caused everyone to drive an hour and a half back into town to get there. I also never got the first dance that I imagined or the dance with my dad because it was mostly just friends that drove to the “reception”. My husband and I are still happily married but our relationships with our families are definitely strained.

Worst thing that happened to me was after a perfect day me and my husband get home to his best friends girl friend aggressively attacking me on Facebook messenger. She thought I did something I didn't do and almost ruined the boys friendship. All because I changed my mind about letting her do my make up about a week and a half before the wedding due to other problems that occurred to make me realize she was a not so good person. The wedding night i was put into a full mental breakdown and my mom had to come calm me down, my husband was beyond livid. Spent my whole honeymoon on edge and worried about my husband and his buddies friendship due to the phsyco.

My MOH’s underage sister somehow got alcohol and was drunk in a room full of cops. I was thankful no one made a scene about it. My uncle also made a code word at the bar so his family could use it to put their drinks on his tab. The code word got out and he ended up paying for the drinks for half the reception. 😂 we’ve been together for 14 years now

Well, our wedding wasn't the kind where you have a huge number of guests. It was held in a temple and only church members who have received a recommend can go inside, so our plan was to have a reception back home after the honeymoon. But out of the several siblings of mine who had these recommends, and their spouses, only one brother and one sister showed up, along with my parents. Oh, also my husband's ex-step-mother (complicated family) and two of my old Sunday School teachers who I honestly never thought would really care enough to make the effort since I was a 14-year-old brat when I was in their class, so that was really sweet of them. But yeah, that's my family. I was the youngest of nine and clearly the magic was gone for attending family weddings, or maybe I'm just not that important to them. Kinda wonder how many went to my sister's even though she was married a year after I was.
But worse than that was that my husband's ex-stepmother was a bitter old woman with no joy to be found... and was the type of old fart who just had to have her say and expound her great and grand knowledge. Well, my dad also had this old fart habit. We were married in a town I didn't know well and so when we decided to go out to eat after the wedding and before everyone went their way (and more importantly, we went ours, winky face) I had no idea where to go. I was more of a Pizza Hut type back then and didn't know any nice sit down restaurants in town.
So my brother recommends the Olive Garden. Yeah, whoo hoo, but I'd never been there, so what did I know? And don't worry, I wasn't sitting in an Olive Garden in a wedding dress, just a regular dress I'd brought along. But yeah, butthead wanted him some of those infinite breadsticks (I mean, fair) so off we went where I got a plate of something sloppy and gooey looking that I couldn't choke down if my life depended on it because I was so nervous. This is where the two old farts come in, because they OF COURSE got talking about politics and each just had to have the last word in rumbling old person speak while my brother, the king of ADHD, kept throwing out little prompts to get them going again every time they started to lose steam or my mom managed to reroute the conversation. A-hole. My brother, that is.
So there I am with my new husband, a nervous wreck, listening to two old porridges exchanging, "Well, actually..." conversation about who the crap knows what anymore, just waiting for everyone to finish eating and shut up and let us go learn to be married people a little bit... but when it's time to go, my husband finds out his ex-step-mom's plane doesn't leave for four hours and instead of doing as SHE ASKED HIM TO and dropping her off at the airport, where let's face it, people chill for that long all the time even if security wasn't as high back then, well... my husband who was still unable to let anyone down due to years of them gaslighting him in alternating shifts, insisted she wait with us in OUR BRIDAL SUITE. So we sat for two hours watching reruns on tv waiting until it was a reasonable time, by his standards, to drop her off.
I'll say this... as much as I dislike his family, that was on him. She tried to talk him out of it and I'll bet you anything she would much rather have sat four hours in an airport than with two nervous newlyweds for two. The good news is we've been married 29 years anyway, and he doesn't really talk to his family anymore. Went full no contact years ago which I thought was a bit much but also can't really blame him for. One too many broken promises by his dad and he just gave up.

Unfortunately I have to confirm that you are right about buffets in Italy. I have never seen a dessert buffet at a wedding here, but years ago I sang in a choir and the after-concert buffet was regularly ransacked, once there were autumn decorations with pumpkins and onions and people took away those too.

Just gotta say Charlotte, thank you. Today I really needed a pick-me-up as today would have been my Dad's 64th birthday and didn't feel that smiling would be a thing that happened. I have gotten nothing done all day because I have been binge watching your videos and now...wait for it... giggling my face off. Thank you
Wedding story - Small, very local, very low key wedding that hubby and I planned ourselves with no coordinator. I forgot completely about the cake until the DJ called for the caterer (who was one of my best friends) to bring it out. I panicked, ran for the kitchen and told her I forgot to get it ready. She looks at me, turns me around and literally puts her foot in my ass and says "get out of my kitchen". She prepped the cake, coordinated with the DJ to make a splash of it and totally saved it with a fancy Vanna walk to bring it out. I still haven't cleaned the footprint out of my dress because I love the story and she is still one of the most beautiful humans I know.

Not my wedding but my brother’s wedding. It was a stressful day, he forgot to tell us that close family will be taking pictures at 9:00 am, so we got there late. After that, we got to the church, everything was going smooth until my grandma had a heart attack mid vow telling and my dad, who’s a doctor, was trying to save his mom and crying. I was some sort of groomsmen and I wasn’t able to see the disaster, thank god, but since I am autistic, I was having a meltdown because of the “plan changes”. After that, we head to the venue and I had to say hi to every guest because my dad was at the hospital with my grandma and my mom was helping my brother with something. Was not that bad at the end, I ate pizza.

At my cousin’s wedding, a stink bug flew down the bride’s sister/matron of honor’s dress. Right down the top. She was trying to subtly turn and get it out without interrupting, because it was coming to the vows. The bridesmaid next to her quietly asked what was wrong, she tells her. Bridesmaid spins MOH around and it full view of the entire wedding, reaches into MOH’s cleavage, removes the bug and flicks it away. Completely stops the wedding cold and MOH has to explain what happened. Didn’t ruin the wedding in the slightest but has become family legend.
