    I'd like to add one thing - interactions with the surroundings. Nemsis, for example, really benefits from feeling like you're only narrowly missing the trench walls and makes it feel more intense than it otherwise would.
    You could argue that this is included under theming, but I think there's a difference.

    "Well-paced" could mean how well the ride flows together, and it could also mean an interesting progression or sequencing of the ride experience. For example, a ride that saves its biggest moment until later in the layout, like Thunderbolt at Kennywood

    Excellent Topic!!! People seem to forget that when roller coasters were originally becoming popular, simple out-and-back airtime machines were all the rage!
    Expressed another way- if you pause a roller coaster and ask at any moment what ideally should come next, a fun hill with lots of airtime is the usual answer.

    I'd like to add to the theming topic: I do think that the lack of theming in the top rollercoasters might be due to the question of the best roller coaster being not specific enough. Personally when I am asked for the best rollercoaster I've been on, I'd say Steel Vengeance despite Ride to Happiness and Kärnan both topping it as my favorites. That's because I consider the best rollercoaster seperate from the best experience and I try to seperate them when doing a ranking.
    I would also have loved to see Novelty/Uniqueness as a category ranked.
    None the less: Very interesting results :)

    Maybe there would be some more competitor for some features would be comfort, location, innovation (spinning, 4D, drop tracks, unique ride elements, sound(track), duration and hangtime. I know some (like airtime and sound(track)) are very much included in pre-existing features, but I think they deserve a seperate spot.
    One of your greatest videos yet!
    Would love to see more in this series, like
    perfect theme land (attraction, detail, sightlines/immersions, shows, vibe, light/dark theme, eat and drink options, scale, sound...)
    perfect dark ride (queue, surprise, animatronics, detail, length, suspense, special effects...)
    theme park??? (Attractions, price, theming, immersion, service, shows, scale, restaurants)
    Coaster lineup (diverity, top coasters, wood, launch, inversions, scale difference...)
    park hotel?
    Flat ride?
    They dont have to be as much in detail, you could just release like a 5-8 minute bideo for some of the smaller ones. But I also do love in-depth videos, so I def would say no to that!
    Thanks for reading my suggestions, big fan!

    You can also put music on the list (different than theming in my opinion). Rock'n RollerCoaster with "Dude Looks Like A Lady" becoming talking with Iron Man in the Dark at Walt Disney Studios is a serious let down. Ride To Happiness is also a great example.
    And you also have to account for bias, like proximity, personal history.

    The perfect coaster must include Ejector Airtime restraints that allow for a few inches of room and it has to include a few moments of Sustained Laterals. Bonus if there's zero lateral bracing on the seats.

    I have to say, a large drop after a launch is just worse than after a lift hill, so I voted lift hills a bit higher, as first drops are the best elements. I guess the manufacturer can determine speed very accurately after a chain, and perfect the shape of the drop. B&M are the masters of this.

  • @matt64allison
    @matt64allison 6 месяцев назад +1

    4:30 in theory you could measure pacing using the difference between top speed & average speed. A coaster with a smaller difference will be well paced whereas one with a much higher top speed than the average speed will have worse pacing but I’m not maths expert

    • @matt64allison
      @matt64allison 6 месяцев назад

      You could possibly even include length & duration. Eg a ride with a high average speed, short length but a long duration must be slowing down regularly to take that long to complete the layout

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good suggestion actually! Though, I wouldn't say that a ride being slow at points ruins the pacing. Hangtime during inversions certainly adds to the experience at times!

    • @Paolo8772
      @Paolo8772 6 месяцев назад

      Airtime Thrills uses "pacing" to mean average speed on prime ride track; the track not including the statin, break run or lift hill). That's not what most people mean by "pacing" though.

    I think, the main question here should be "What’s the perfect roller coaster FOR YOU?"
    Visiting theme parks with my friends and riding all sorts of coasters alongside them has taught me that we all have different tastes when it comes to coasters (or any other thing). A very good example of that is Zadra which is my friend Corvus’ Top 1 at the moment but seats at the 56th place for me. The reason? Zadra is very uncomfortable for me as a taller dude so when we rode it -and we rode it a lot- I found it painful, and not in a good RMC way that I’ve experienced with Untamed -which is my top 2 by the way-.
    In the end, it’s alright to have differing opinions, if we were all the same, life would be boring, wouldn’t it be?
