  • On this occasion I ventured back to the lake where the rumours continued to circulate .
    It turned out to be another good day with a few captures and I took the opportunity to demonstrate how to chin a pike to those who may not be confident.
    Easy Guide :
    1 : Calm the fish - Gently roll it onto its back if needed.
    2 : Find the jaw Bone and hold it firmly being careful not to grab those razor sharp gill plates.
    3 : Support the fish , crack a smile and get a fishing buddy to be your paparazzi !
    Tight Lines !

    Holding is not the issue, it depends on how awake and aggressive they are.

    Good explanation, however their slime coat is also important you not over handle it, they are susceptible to bacteria if its wiped off in the net and hands . Good vid

      Totally agree went pike fishing today. caught a 11lb pike thrashing around like crazy. Had to sit it in between legs just to hold it. It's very hard to chin them when they thrash around. I dont play them on the line to tire out and when I rest them in the net before releasing the shoot off. I think a lot of these videos are edited with a very tired fish. Not complaining it's a very good video i enjoyed watching it thank you.

      Hi ,
      If it's really hot I tend not to pike fish during the peak hours and just stick to the cooler mornings and evenings, that said I find top water lures are awsome during the summer months, poppers ,frogs , ducks , rats , bats , snakes...... the choices are endless ! All lures will catch but it's a great opportunity to see the fish strike , check out some of my top water clips if you have a chance

  • @langsmalkompass
    @langsmalkompass 4 года назад +3

    Did not like the way you handled the first fish, first of all you should not put your hands directly on the pike, they have a protective slimy coat which will wear off if you touch them directly with your skin. This is really bad for the pike and can even be lethal.

    • @bhfishing8572
      @bhfishing8572  4 года назад +1

    • @bhfishing8572
      @bhfishing8572  4 года назад +12

      It's a well know fact that gloves remove the film on the fish they provide a far more abrasive surface than that of skin, not putting you down but do some research pal 👍

    • @joshgoesflying2828
      @joshgoesflying2828 4 года назад +2

      @@langsmalkompass You've been massively misinformed if you believe that. It is in fact the opposite, wearing gloves, using towells etc is damaging to the fish, handling with bear hands is the BEST thing to do. This is why you never see any pro anglers using anything like gloves or towells because these actually remove the protective layer because they absorb the moisture and rub the slime off. Hands do not do this and by far the best and only safe option when handling a pike
