I got caught by a throat grind this past weekend while sparring and got the part with the hips, but missed pushing the arm. My point is that this video had excellent timing for me, thanks!!!!
It always makes me smile that there are a few big guys in the gym I train at that consistently use the forearm to the throat tactic once they're in someone's guard. To me I don't want to become dependent on any specific technique as I feel it keeps me from trying new ones. But I have figured out the trick to popping it off to the side like this to take the back or sweep to mount, so they've stopped using it so much on me which I appreciate.
My guard has got strong recently and all the other white belts are getting frustrated and doing this forearm nonsense on me. Coach says to armbar them but it’s hard when they are already opening my guard with the other arm. Can’t wait to try these counters on them.
Good instruction. I have been watching arm triangle vids the past few weeks. This will be the first submission I hit when I roll. I'm getting closer. Thx for the details.
This is the problem I'm having with my judo mates since I started, they dont want to open the guard, just stacks and I end up tiring my self without do shit thanks stephan
I'm a seasoned white belt. Today at open mat I rolled with a heavy weight white belt I haven't seen before at the gym, although he'd been there for two months by his reckoning, I just hadn't run into him because I only attend No Gi. Anyway, I get closed guard and he starts driving the forearm in to my throat. I'm thinking, hm, disrespectin' the closed guard are we? I pushed away with the legs, brought him in and shucked the arm to the side and took the back. I would have thought someone would have taught him that it's a low percentage move to attack from inside the guard and that his job as a white belt is to learn how to escape and pass the guard first. Obviously hadn't got the memo. A tendency to Ignore fundamentals and go for the low hanging fruit didn't leave me with a good impression of him.
At 6:25 it looks like a Arm in Rear Naked Choke. BJJ rules for kids say that Arm Triangles are illegal. Is this an Arm Triangle - can it be used in kids tournaments? thanks.
I do this everytime. Strong Base from Judo helps here But i grab and hold collar to prevent slip. U can also use collar grab to help in balance too. Also while holding collar. Slip elbow over headand try to getunder head. Then jam shoulder in throat jaw. For a up close and personal exp :)
If he doesn't let you get the arm across or as you go towards the back he shoulder rolls sideways and you end up in his guard, will the hair still look this bad. ?
What if he grabs your lapel (palm up), then tripods up and puts all his force down (punching the lapel across your throat and creating a choke)? I know this seems like a basic move, but the other day a roided up blue belt (with at least 15 kg on me) did this move. I'm ashamed to say, but as a purple belt, I relaxed at first and decided to wait him out as I didn't take the technique seriously.... but he put so much force behind it that by the time I started thinking of an armbar, I had to tap from the choke. Suggestions or similar experiences?
tricepsish i use this choke to pass which sounds similiar to your description of the choke being done to you ruclips.net/video/qGcOTG3Hn50/видео.html when it's being done to me....i either trap the arm and rotate to armbar, if i can't rotate, i turn my face towards choking hand, grab that with both my hands and pull it towards my chest at same time i use my hips to push him away.
Yep! That's the one, thanks. Funny that Chewie made a vid on the exact same move recently. I should have at least had the composure to try your escape!

How can I make the work when the choke arm’s hand has a collar grip?
Andrew King swing to an armbar!!
Question sometimes the opponent grips the gi when useally pressing into the neck making it difficult to push across.
Exactly thats my problem too
@@josephwhite7913 try gripping their wrist throw left leg over their head for a belly down armbar. 👊 Got to be quick though.
@@david69funk haha thanks ill try

Chad Preston if you anchor your hand then it certainly is tougher to dislodge you. You should also work the Ezekiel choke from there!
What if the have you in mount position and the are forearm choking you, or you don’t have them in full mount?
Very nice
My throats killing me. At last I can get my revenge.
F those dudes.

What about from half guard?
From the position in the thumbnail could you rotate on your shoulders a little and throw your leg over their head to create an armbar?
