- Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, as I mentioned in the Olivia video last week I decided to sit down and film a reaction to Taylor Swift's version of Speak Now! An album that originally came out back in 2010 that has now been officially re-recorded. Also, plot twist although I am a massive swift and have been for a few years I actually haven't listened to this album before. Mainly out of respect for Taylor I waiting for the re-release, as I am also doing for Debut. So I hope you enjoy this chaotic mess of a video!! xoxox

I think it's worth mentioning that Long Live was the last track on the original Speak Now album. Ours and Superman were added for the original deluxe album. So ending the actual original album on Long Live makes much more sense!!

speak now (song) is rumored to be about josh farro and hayley williams from paramore!! hayley dated him in like 2009, then they broke up but said they’d get back together but josh met another girl and married her, and hayley has talked about taylor being there for her at that time!! plus she’s also a feature in the album and has said it’s her favorite
Long Live is definitely a fave, makes me cry everytime I hear it😭 she wrote it for us swifties❤
Speak Now was Taylor’s first fully self written album (no co-writers) and was actually originally called Enchanted but was encouraged to change the name to speak now
1. “Mine” was at the time Taylor’s ideal hope for a relationship. Secret message was “Toby” who was the actor who played the boyfriend in the music video
2. “Sparks Fly” was a song she originally wrote when first starting out that she only played in bars with Jake Owen in Portland Oregon -which happens to be the secret message- but eventually rewrote it and the final version is what we have on the album. Not necessarily about a certain ex but has hints to maybe John Mayer
3. “Back to December” is her song about Taylor Laurier - secret message being “Tay”- her line about “that September night” is the night at the VMA’s when Kanye interrupted her on stage
4. “Speak Now” was simply a fun song she wanted to write. Secret message was “You always regret what you don't say”
5. “Dear John” is her calling out John Mayer for the first time even adding an instrumental nod to him by using a guitar sound that is frequently used in his songs. The like “the girl in the dress wrote you a song” is kinda a jab cause he often praised her song writing before the start of their relationship. Secret message is “Loved you from the very first day” hinting that a later song is about him.
6. “Mean” is a response to a journalist that highly criticised her performance Grammys one year and also saying she doesn’t and can’t write songs. Fun thing is she performed is the following Grammys as little f u. Secret message is “I thought you got me”
7. “Story of Us” is another John Mayer song. Secret message is “CMT Music Awards” which she is referring to him basically ignoring her and giving her the cold shoulder the whole night since they had broken up.
8. “Never Grow Up” is Taylor singing to her younger self and just having that kind of just realisation of “I’m on my own” she wrote it after moving away from her family and moving to New York hinted by the secret message being “I moved out in July”
9. “Enchanted” was written about a crush she had about the lead singer of Owl City hinted with the secret message being “Adam”. She tried to sound similar to how Owl City music sounded at the time
10. “Better Than Revenge” was written about the girl that Joe Jonas moved on with after their breakup, Camilla Belle. Secret message is “You thought I would forget “
11. “Innocent” was written at the time to Kanye after the VMA’s situation hinted by the secret message “Life is full of little interruptions” and the face she mentioned the age “32 and still growing up now” and he was 32 at the time. At the time the two were trying to mend that and Taylor wanted to forgive him and maybe become friends. The line “before the monsters caught up to you” is thought to hint at his mental health struggles.
12. “Haunted” is one that not many people can agree on who it is about. Some say John Mayer but there’s a large group also suing it’s about Twilight New Moon. Secret message is “Still to this day”
13. “Last Kiss” which is about Joe Jonas hinted with the secret message “Forever and Always. The song has a 27 second guitar intro which is how long the phone call lasted where he broke up with her (because she hung up though lol)
14. “ Long Live” is a song dedicated to the team for the Fearless 2009 tour- “It was the end of a decade but the start of an age and how she never expected it to get that big and really thought that could be a one time thing. It’s also a fan song because her fans are why she got to go on the tours. Secret message “For you”
15. “Ours” is another John Mayer song but is written about the positive sides of the relationship - no secret message
16. “Superman” also about John Mayer and was hinted but the secret message of “Dear John” being “Loved you from the very first day”
the way this doesn’t have more likes makes me upset!
I believe Speak Now was written because someone Hayley Williams loved at the time was getting married, so Taylor wrote a cute silly satire song about it.

honestly this album was in her petty era and it’s my FAVOURITE era of hers, vocals on 10, lyrics on 10, the aesthetic of the album on 10 and such a great transitional piece between fearless and red ❤️ long live taylor
I reckon you’ll love the vault tracks!! As a swiftie I think Speak Now really describes Taylor as an artist, as it was all self written. Like she wrote, enchanted, haunted, back to December, and Dear John all by herself! Glad you enjoyed the Album!

fyi superman is about john mayer and represents how taylor admired him / the power and age imbalance. it was a skip for me for a long time but once i gave it chance it became one of my favourites. if you read the lyrics you’ll see all the red flags that are mentioned in dear john. loved this reaction!!!!

This re record was so good! I’ve seen so much hate towards it but I enjoyed it so much, it was my first time properly listening to it too and it’s not my taste in her music (I’m a 1989-midnights girlie). Also those vault tracks were amazing, I can see you is incredible and the mv, defo react to it!

Mean was my comfort song against my bullies (also Skyscraper by Demi Lovato), it was a reminder that someday it was going to be different. Now I'm 24, and when I first heard the Taylor's Version and heard how grown Taylor's voice is and how grown I am from that time, made me cry a little bit...it was like "yeah, it got better, and we're bigger now, Taylor"❤✨

I think this re-recording is the best one so far the vocals and production are almost exact to the original. It’s just enhanced. I was worried about if she could still sound like her younger self and she definitely nailed it. Theres nothing this woman cant do 🥰

First, I LOVED that you did this video for us even though you don't necessarily enjoy music reactions as much as commentary. Thank you. I have never considered Speak Now as my favorite album of hers, but every time I listen to it, the tracks just HIT. Also, Innocent is about the whole Kanye VMA situation and she's trying to not blame him and be understanding (Which he clearly didn't deserve after he kept coming for her after that *cough cough* the fake phone call). Mean is about a critic who always came for her during that era, whether it was her vocals, performance, or songs. And, the vault tracks are all very reminiscent of this era, and I KNOW you'll LOOOVEEE I Can See You lol

this is exactly what i needed for my sleepy monday morning, THANK YOU for your infectious hilarious energy! and it's so ridiculous that anyone would ever give this channel a hard time for "pausing" or "not playing the whole song" cuz like truly navigating copyright restrictions on youtube is wild. i tried to do a midnights reaction on my small channel, and it's a really hard feeling to work so hard on a video and then just get it blocked! i had a little bit of speak now reaction in my most recent taylor swift video, and i did this same approach of headphones on to focus on the *reaction* and not risk playing the music, like... it just makes sense!
