But good tip about grabbing a Korean friend to make sure you aren't agreeing to or signing something you don't fully understand!

I'm not sure but I guess that it would be either really difficult or not possible. It would be better to contact a real estate agent based in Korea and ask them about your situation as they would know all of the relevant laws and procedures available.

억 is 100,000,000₩ so its over 200,000,000 up front. 전세 is a special korean system instead of paying rent you pay a huge lump of money and then when you move out you get it back. In order to get that money koreans usually take out a loan. But those loans are rarely ever given to foreigners.
When looking for housing, how do you know if they allow pets to move in with you? Do you also have to be fluent in korean when contacting the realtor or do they speak English?
That is a good question. Some places allow pets some do not. I think you would just need to tell the real estate agent you're looking for homes that allow pets. I'm not sure if that is listed in the apps. The real estate agents I've personally dealt with spoke in Korean. No matter how much I study I always bring a Korean friend along because it can get confusing and you want someone who you can trust to read the lease details thoroughly for you
In the US we usually pay a down payment of about a couple months rent worth for the landlord to use if there’s any damages. In Korea the key deposit is significantly higher like 10,000 usd. (Could be more or less) and the landlord typically uses that money to invest and make money off of it and when you move out they return the total you gave. They can also subtract from that money if there’s damages.
Agreed! Usually foreigners find the deposits required for 월세 shockingly high so I think many are put off by 전세 to begin with, and most don't qualify for the loans available towards 전세 - which is why I just skipped right over that in the video haha!

Are you using a translator service? Im not sure what charter is but I wonder if its meant to be jeonsae. Theres monthly rent wolsae and a special system called jeonsae where you pay a large sum of money up front pay no rent and get that money back two years later. Usually that money is so large people take out a loan for it and it can be complicated for foreigners.
@@taibaimran8857 Yes pretty much but usually the amount is somewhere over $100,000 so people take out loans for it. I personally have no experience with that process so I didn’t cover it in my video.

You could look for a goshiwon they can be rented month to month but they are usually really small and share bathrooms or kitchens. I'm not sure exactly how to find these though.
They are good to use as a reference But you should always discuss properties through a licensed real estate agent. I use the apps to identify properties I like then I visit the real estate agents in the area and ask about those locations. I wouldn’t rely on the apps unless the contact info provided is a licensed real estate agent.

If you are seeing a listing with 억 thats a unit of numbers so that is actually 260,000,000 won for the price of that home. It seems like you are looking at a 전세 listing.
@@springvibes5344 you want to filter by 월세 매매 is a type of housing contract I dont fully understand but again that is 5 hundred 20 million won. For standard rentals they will say 월세 and use a slash between deposit / rent. Anything with 억 is not going to be a monthly rental.

Maybe not an apartment but you can look into goshiwon, I’m not sure if you can rent without a visa though.

Apartments are very very expensive to buy and typically require a loan. I don't have any experience with that.

It would depend on the individual. Some could speak English but there is no guarantee.
