I've always believed that path to make exciting fighting game sequels is following the path of the character and letting them expand their techniques or learn new ones. It's exciting, follows the actual path of training, and eases the burden of creating brand new characters. I've always thought the omega mode stuff was really cool, and it is very interesting to see how much of it made it into sfv but there's no denying that the idea of making cool stuff more readily available is imo a downside because it then requires the game to be balanced in a more stifling way to make sure this new technique doesn't make the character too powerful. Complaining aside, I'm still looking forward to 6 and if it's anything resembling the feel of omega sf4 I think it'll be a great game
I just want characters to have some options or flexibility again. Omega SFIV was a prototype for SFV but they still ended up taking a lot of things away from characters. Gief without green hand or quick lariat just feels so wrong.
They basically ruined a handful of characters outright by changing them so much, they either ought to have been a totally new character, or just making their whole game plan change.
I'll admit they did better technically with Abigail in SF5, but they took away what made Hugo fun. The flying backbreakers, the corner-carrying grabs, and the deceptively fast, hyper armored and Soul Crushing EX Clothesline. If Abigail had just one of those moves in SF5 he'd be more fun.

You're telling me V dropped with no Honda?!? No flipping way
It took like 3? Years for honda to make SFV. It was a tragedy he was the only one of the original 8 not to be in after so long
@@rooflemonger that's... That's patently absurd. I personally think those original 8 should be mandatory at launch. I feel similarly about the original cast of MK. Some things just have to be in a game for the successor to feel right.
Just make everything crazy. Fuck balance! I just want to have fun!
