Nel '80 ne avevo sentito parlare, ed era sulla bocca di tutti che avevano surclassato i Kiss (onestamente ci vuol poco...) nel loro tour estivo. Li ho poi scoperti qualche mese dopo in quanto il video di "Women in Uniform" era la sigla del programna "Alta Pressione" su TV Koper Capodistria, trasmissione musicale che faceva un po' di tutto, Metal incluso, e a quei tempi era ossigeno puro. Da lì amore assoluto, poi è uscito "Killers" e va beh, ogni parola è superflua. I due dischi e mezzo con Di' Anno sono di un altro pianeta, e la formazione di questo live per me è stata la loro migliore in assoluto, "Phantom of the Opera" è semplicemente a livello di una "Child In Time", di una "Kashmir" o di una "Stargazer", immortale. Ho pianto quando hanno sostituito Di'Anno 😢, non è stata più la stessa cosa. Questa registrazione è favolosa, musica, palco, energia, potenza, tutto al massimo possibile. Questi Iron sono stati unici, poi senza Di'Anno e Burr sono diventati un'altra cosa, sempre ottima ma non più a questo livello; non cambierò mai idea.
stessa esperienza mia. nel 1981 andavo in giro con la maglietta di "killers". (avevo 14 anni....) detto questo, il video fa parte di un "live at the raimbow" del 1981. nel 1980 il "live at the raimbow" è in bianco e nero e alla chitarra c'e' ancora Dennis Stratton. QUINDI....errore! li trovi tutti e due completi su you tube cmq. up the irons...!
Thanks for the upload. Clive will always be my favourite Iron Maiden drummer. It's not like there's a long list of them. And Nicko is awesome. I just always loved Clive's drumming.
I was not too upset when (as much as liked him) Paul was replaced but when Clive was gone I gave up on Iron Maiden for nearly two decades. I adored "Flight of the Icarus" and "Piece of Mind" was good but the best Iron Maiden will always be "Killers" and "Number of the Beast". Up the Clive!!
@@deathmetaldouglas69 Paul was great. I think he actually has a more melodic voice than Dickinson. I just think he could sing a ballad with no issues, where Dickinson might sound a bit forced. I don't even know if Bruce can sing a ballad. Not like that's in Maiden's repertoire, but Paul had a really versatile voice. Like Prodigal Son. I don't know if that would sound as good with Dickinson singing it.
@@DrTomoculusAlso the mellow spots in "Remember Tomorrow" had Paul laying it smooth. I hated "Number of the Beast" the first time I heard it. I thought Bruce was a Dio wannabe. I immediately played it again. That impression went away rather briskly. By the third spin the next day I was hooked.
Great post bro!!! loved Paul. I remember number of the beast tour opening for priest on screamin for vengeance. What a show, PHENOMENAL!!! Funny thing that night in Providence, RI the Di'Anno faithfuls were BOOING the shit out of Bruce, CRAZY!!! I think it's safe to say it worked out for Mr. Dickinson. Absolutely love the first 2 Maiden albums, they were ahead of their time.
Saw Maiden open for Priest in '81 on the Killers tour with Paul singing. Next tour, they opened for Priest again with Bruce on vocals. A big difference for sure. I like both, but I do prefer Paul. Last I saw Maiden was for the Piece Of Mind tour.

Yeah i saw Bruce first ever gig with Maiden here in Italy..hell of a show! But I must say i love Paul as well!
