This video is meant to explain the cost and parts involved in building a rolling chassis for a 1962 impala. All new suspension, frame work, LS Swap, serpentine kit, Dayton wire wheels. Alot of time and money behind the scenes. All done 100% in house amongst our club, enjoy!
Preach it bro! This is why I’ve gotten out of frame work, people have a hard time grasping the cost and effort that goes into it. Because most of it remains unseen in the final build. Most people send me 8-10k in chrome and parts to put on a frame then act like I’m price gouging when I say 4-5k to do stress point, powder coat and assemble, and that price is me doing it for the love of lowrider not the love of money lol because nobody getting rich off that. Awesome video man I’m using it for a reference for anyone that asks about costs.
Great video as always! I was just color matching my new Ididit column, a-arm connecting rods and rear seat speaker housing for my ‘64 and saying to myself, people just don’t understand the amount of work that goes into building a car the right way. Thanks for posting the video, you and Redrocket have helped me tremendously with all the videos and info contained in them!!!
This is the first video I think I have ever seen that didn't make the cost of building a great ride top secrete! I'm working on a 67 ragtop (not a full resto) but it will be someday. And when that day comes, I will be spending whatever it cost to get what I like and drive down the street with pride. Great video!
Building my 64 impala ss with a LS swap Lq9 6.0, this video is a great video and you guys are not cutting any corners. Prices vary on brands because you can go with cheap shit or high quality stuff. I'll be following along because like you, me and my primos work on our stuff on the weekends. We got 2 61 impala convertibles, 63 Impala, 63 Impala SS and a 67 impala that we mess with, its definitely fun and expensive lol
Good lookin build so far guys. Great info on the oil pan mods. Out of all the swaps I've seen, that's the only one that has said anything about trimming the windage tray. So thanks for that heads up. Iam just getting started on an LS swap in my 64 Impala lowrider as well....no Daytons though, lol.... just some nice AR 20S
Solid video. Thank you for posting and explaining the costs. IMO they seem a bit cheap of pricing but when you get a deal, know people and do the work yourself it makes sense. Looking forward to the next videos.
Thanks!. This one is kind of long. Sometimes I think its just rambling and no one is watching....the average duration of view is like half of the length of video I upload
You ain’t lying bro it gets pricey and just to have it as a roller. Sad thing about it is you don’t really feel it till you start adding it back up and seeing the total every time you total the price again n again that’s the part I hate lol but sure does feel good seeing and knowing what you have accomplished and from saving on labor by doing it yourself. Keep it up them rides will look and be super clean
Hello nice work Question where are you getting your 44" moonroof from ? I have a 63 super sport and 64 and I'm looking for 2 44" moonroof's for each of them.. Thanks!! Again Nice Build
A lot of free game in this video.. as far as the engine “rebuild” what all would you advise gets gone through or replaced on an Ls engine pulled from a mid 2000 truck before dropping it in something? And finally can stress points just be reinforced for a convertible frame or would you advise a full wrap even for a lay and play set up? Thanks for these videos been watching for a minute now..
One thing I don't get involved with is engine rebuild...I can swap parts and dress up but I've never torn apart a motor. If it's running good...I say don't rebuild anything?..
If it a car u really plan on keeping then you want to reinforce as much as possible. I've had convertibles with nothing reinforce, but im very light on the switch with soft coils. I dont like to tear up cars...I'd advise reinforcing a hard top frame. .the factory convertible reinforcement are kind of wonky and are more work to cut off....could sell a factory cv frame and use the money for work on the ht frame...thats what in going to do on my 60. I have a 59 ht frame out back
@@lonestarlows I have a 4 door 64 donor car are the frames interchangeable? I don’t think I’d ever want the wheels to come off the ground maybe a 3 wheel which is why I’m sure reinforcement is a must.. thanks for ur help bro
I have 2 ragtops a 61 and a 62. I sold both convertible frames and use a reinforced hard top frame with the vert mounts added. That was the advice I was given by several vets. Guys who are restoring convertibles want/need factory vert frames, but if you're building a lowrider and modifying the car anyway its not as big of a deal to use a modified hard top frame.
Very good reporting on this project, 12000 plus, ad 10000 misc parts, shop labor, 70 an hour, approximately 80 hours minimum, stay in touch with your customers, bring them in at the 80th hour of work, showing the progress of your craftsmanship, be up front and honest, maybe another 24 to 40 hours of 70 an hour of labor to finish the lower part of your project, that's if you are good and efficient at your craftsmanship, anyone in the custom and repair shops that restore or customize vehicles for a living will tell thier potential customers, have a good check book, have a lot of money in it, if not, go work and save every penny you make, and then, and only then when you have approximately 60000 grand, then bring your favorite project to me, until then ADIOS AMIGOS,.....

Is there a way to put a 56 265 block on a 64 frame
@@lowriderpride1702 sure
@@lonestarlows do you know what does it take to put it on I’m hearing to weld it I need it a 2nd opinion thanks for the reply bro
Damn why put a LS in a 62 .. a 350 will do just fine .. y’all making a muscle car with a LS not a lowrider

Yep. People need to put the phone down and pick up tools to get a better understanding of labor and costs.

Yeah I dont know why people treat costs like a secret. Maybe they are ashamed of what they pay ??

Have u put the frame on the car? Wanna know if those valve covers hit the brake booster
Not yet. He's running the master cylinder inside the car...so nothing on firewall
Can I use stock engine mounts with the dingo sliders??
Pretty sure that was explained in the video, if not, yes thats what the dingo sliders call form stock SBC Mounts
Good break down
What brand are those headers ?
Good job fellas
NICE JOB! labor of love for sure.
Bobby has all the money
You guys do anything special to the stock rear ends to keep the axels from sliding out.? Thanks in advance
The rear disc brake bracketry will not allow the axles to slide out.
Clean build
clean ls & chassis where did you get your disc brake setup from?
Local. Last minute customs. They are on IG as well
Did you have to notch the front crossmember to clear the oil pan
No sir
@@lonestarlows any chance you have a good pic of the oil pan clearance to the frame

How does a lowrider on daytons feel driving wise with an ls in it? Would like your opinion
