shai is always moving at his own pace he never gets sped up or slowed down by a defender always in control and is able to get to his spots anytime he wants
He plays like a seasoned vet. Definitely has some Chris Paul in him, but he's tall. Honestly reminds me of like old Oscar Robertson. Just will take you to his spot like 13-15 feet and shoot over you and use the glass if needed. He has a sneaky fantastic handle but he pulls it out when people think he won't. He doesn't default to over dribbling and I love that.
There’s so many times every game where he is smothered and he shoots it and I’m like “damn that’s obviously gonna miss”… and he makes it every. single. time.
@@DeeJay_VII Yeah, and then when people compare players or consider their alegibility for HoF, one of first things they do is look at all star and all-nba appearances.
I absolutely love Shai. Got into basketball last season as an Aussie viewer and he caught my eye straight away. His game is smooth and he's also pretty clutch.
Idk how he does the smoothness style of play like that. When you watch players like Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Ja Morant, and Derrick Rose, they make basketball looks difficult with their explosiveness. But SGA does it like a walk in the park. Like he can just shoot, lay up, and outta nowhere he get 30 pts.

I completely agree with you. He even helped me realize that the reason why I enjoy Shai's game so much, is that I have a similar game. He's the prototype for the future guards. SGA, Cade, etc. This man definitely earned a sub from me for this breakdown.
No offense @Half Court Hoops, but I wouldn't say that SGA has a "preference" for driving to his left if he is going that way 54% of the time. That is a very balanced attack. On 100 drives if he goes to the left 54 times, as a viewer I could only guess which way he would drive with that information. As well, when you say that on the wing, he "ALWAYS drives to his left about 65% of the time" is a bit misleading because always means 100% of the time, while 65% does not. So is it always, or is it 65% of the time?
@@imurpapa8120 which playoffs? 😹 he averages 20 for his playoff career, 27 per game last postseason and 26 per game in the Celtics series. Idk where you got 50
He seems kinda frail if you’re just looking at him but he constantly moves bigger players he’s deceptively strong or he knows how to use force at the right time either way offensively he’s super elite
Though I agree, I feel like he doesn't need to, when he's the most dominant player in the paint, whom isn't a big. Top 5 in paint scoring, amongst all centers, and Zion is crazy. Also, 80% in '22, to 93%! FT % in '23 is insane! 😮 Safe to agree that he will be unstoppable once he takes a few more 3pt per game. That's what makes him great though. He draws many fouls. You can't apply that type of pressure from shooting outside. He's already got multiple moves from every single spot on the court. This season is going to be 🤯. Motor Case is back too.
Am i the only one that noticed that at 7:26 the ball looked like it went behind the rim, kinda vansihed then went in the basket. I slowed it down and it looks really strange.
@@maartenvz for me he is this season for sure better then Ja, same tier as lillard (but more games played) and same tier as Mitchell. just looking at the start of the season i would say 1. Mitchell 2. SGA 3. Lillard 4. Morant

his game is slower, but otherwise pretty much iverson game there. the jumpshot, release, drive layups, step back, fade away to the left, low dribbling, long crossovers etc...slower but taller Iverson. i bet that he did work so much to master Iverson moves
I just don't like the foul fishing he does. He drives, and overreacts to any instance of contact. Sometimes he initiates it with the defender, then reacts and gets the whistle. At this point, they call the slightest bit of contact a foul. Contacted had no bearing on the actual shot attempt, so it ends up being in and one. I feel like defenders either avoid him to avoid fouling out, or he "react-a-flops" to the line. No wonder he is a League Leader in Free Throw Attempts. He shoots free throws like he's big man. It's really disgusting, because he can legitimately hoop.
Brooooo, every single nigga is doing that in the nba now like that shi be so annoying asff in about 3 years I’m no longer watching basketball because of what it became
i think he's lanky build helps sell it to. He does it even in fiba, where slight contact on his drives gets him off balance and the ref calls it, where it would haven't been noticed if he was bigger
Freethrows are part of his game it's literally a skill to get to the line as much as he does it's pointless to talk about removing it. Acting like it's not real scoring or something
I gotta be that guy. But isn't Shai like the most inefficient guard in the league? Amazing player and skill level of course but couldn't we attribute this to volume?
I can't stress enough how incorrect you are. His stats SCREAM efficiency. Your comment is either based on hate or just pure unadulterated ignorance. There is no way you actually have a good argument to back it up. No shot.
Bro he’s legit one of the MOST efficient guards in the league by far, That’s honestly one of his most impressive stats this year, One of the only dude who can constantly put up 30-40 pt games and shoot up to & Even over 50% from the floor, He’s insanely accurate. Dude doesn’t even take a crazy amount of shots most the time but when he does he still crazy efficient. If he took as many shots as guys like Kobe & Russ back in the day, Dude could drop some truly insane numbers & Still makes most of his shots. Honestly one of the best scorers in the league right now and his terrific % from the field just makes it all the more astonishing.
And with the rest of the team being as garbage as they are, he always has the best point of attack defender on him and constantly gets double team. Yet he scores 30ppg on great efficiency. There are always 2 sides of the coin.
This is a surface level take ngl. Do players who score often on bad teams have a tendency to have less scoring on teams that give them less touches? Yes. Do they usually have a refined half court game with efficent scoring and passing vision? No.
