We have to have folks not scared to admit to wrongs and learn. better each officer and the department, and city. But having no over site? Come on we are still in the United States right? This should be more about protecting the citizens and training the police to protect and serve and less on the folks who are worried about getting in trouble. The city right now is showing the behaviorisms that we do not want or need in a city that wants better. No one cared for years. So lets stop looking like we are guilty and don't want help maybe go along with and maybe learn something from each other and have a better city a better state because of it?

The process to become a hairdresser is more intense and stringent than the one to become a cop. Their training is centered around making it home at night, not protection of the public. They need to add an additional 5-week course on constitutional rights and the LIMITS of their authority. Of course none of this would be possible without the help of the union and they routinely, inexplicably, rebuff true reform.

So has anyone ever heard of a criminal defendant getting preliminary access to a criminal investigation to correct 'factual errors'? Why would Phoenix PD think it is above anyone else under investigation? Could it be they have it so engrained in them that the law simply doesn't apply to them? Is that the reason for the egregious conduct they find themselves being investigated for?

So let me get this straight...
Police department and district attorneys blatantly violate constitutional rights multiple times (for which the lead district attorney was fired and disbarred for at least two years, but still denies any wrongdoing), the federal government comes in to audit the department and provide oversight moving forward, and the police and city want the federal government to just give suggestions how they can improve, but leave it in the local authorities' hands?
How about the police catch actual criminals, but give them suggestions how they should act lawfully, then send them on their way to enforce their own reforms without oversight?
Let's see how they feel about their suggestion to the DOJ in that light.
They didn't hire a reputable attorney.. they hired a comedian. I'm almost impressed he keeps a straight face while spewing that bullshit.
I'm pretty sure the public, as individuals and as a community have given the police suggestions how to do their job correctly and ethically in the past. We've seen how poorly that went, which brought us here.
