  • Det. Jennifer DiPonzio was the main case agent initially assigned to Anthony Martin’s case. It was transferred to another detective six months later when she went on medical leave. After Diponzio went on leave, her supervisor discovered she had at least a dozen issues that were negatively impacting the investigation, according to case inspection notes obtained by ABC15. The documented issues include a search warrant filed with incorrect information, missing search warrants, and missing reports.

The officer who put down the family for their complaint is just typical for police. At every point, police blame others immediately. I do think that the officer had no supporting documentation to write something like that and he continues to keep the family in the dark.
The institute for justice might be interested in their case if you tell the family about that organization. There is probably a civil suit against several officers and any financial justice could help the family to hire a good investigator or to support his family.

That detective's sergeant filed paperwork where he knowingly supplied false information, in an effort to shield another officer from what could result in felony charges of abuse of office/corruption/misconduct. For the rest of us that would definitely result in obstruction of justice charges.
Also, based on his filing this knowingly false statement, is he now eligible to be on the Brady List? I suspect this will be highly state-specific, because we have had various victims rights laws passed on state levels. I don't live in Arizona, so I have no idea what kind of laws they have and what kind of sanctions or penalties there are for law enforcement or prosecutorial staff who willfully violate them.
There could also be absolutely no protections to his family, but at least starting the Brady process for knowingly filing false information on the investigation to another, while it won't bring them closure, will at least give them the cold solace that this officer will never again get a chance to negligently slow walk/stop an investigation to cover up a fellow officer's incompetence.

I wonder, even at this point, does anyone in the PD feel even slightly responsible? I doubt it.

Diponzio was still Employed with Phoenix Police when Chief Sullivan was Appointed by City Manager Jeff Barton. Lots of Coverup going on.
Sullivan may Join Diponzio in Prison.

Chief Sullivan gave Diponzio a Sweetheart Sendoff. No blemishes on her record and a nice Disability Payout. Sullivan knew this was all Bogus as he Was
Chief and signed for her Benefit Package and resignation from Phoenix Police.

I predicted this would happen last year with the first reporting she "copped" out of testifying in 3 dozen active cases. Ive since retired from med investigation... but to have all my work go down the drain... and your letting criminals go free and justice has stalled?! That is way out of line, she needs to sit in prison until she completes the reports on all her cases, simple as that.

Since she is on a disability pension, doesn't the State have the authority to require her to undergo another physical or doctor's review to determine if she is still disabled? Most state pension systems have that authority. And, can the court not require her physician to testify if she is still unable to testify? He might have a different diagnosis if he is under oath. I still do not understand what type of physical disability would prevent a person from testifying. This might be the only case of its kind in the world.

Family seeking answers is “interfering?” Oh come on! If you cant do your job as it should be done, the least you can do is have some empathy for grieving loved ones. Infuriating, unprofessional, uncalled for.
