A legend in the 60’s and still a legend in 2024. What an incredible musician this man is. I never tire of his creative genius. Electric. Acoustic. Slide… If it’s got strings on it, he’ll create a sound that you know is him. A one off! As someone said earlier on here ‘I’m so happy to have been on planet Earth at the same time as Dave Gilmour'. I don't ever want to think of a world without him here....😢😢I have told my wife I don't ever wanna know of his passing....it will truly be heartbreaking. Shine on David❤❤❤❤
I have thought this often. I literally get tears in my eyes at the thought, and he’s still here. Whenever that day happens, it’s going to he very difficult for many of us. But we’ll get through it and I find comfort in knowing that so many others appreciate this man as much as I do.
His stature as a guitarist can cause people to neglect what a good singer he is. I'm not sure about his technical abilities as a vocalist, all I know is I've always loved to hear him sing.
To both you wonderful people@@drdalewisely and @chriscatton705 I can't agree with you more and thanks for putting it so beautifully! The warm blanket, ahhh such a perfect description. Can't tell you just how much it felt good to hear someone sum up exactly how to best describe his voice. Yes, I too have always loved to hear him sing, with or without his magnificent guitar :)
I think it's a great example of how a singer can get around some weaknesses in their voices by emphasizing the strengths. I don't think of him as a power singer. His range is fine, but not extraordinary. It's just a great tone and timbre and a merciful refusal to rely on vocal gimmicks and showing off.
Thank you so much, David, for allowing us to enjoy your journey. And now, your beautiful daughter is set to continue it. It is so beautiful. Romany has such a beautiful voice. What more could you ask for, but a beautiful diamond. You know what i mean. I am crying. In gratitude. So beautiful .
Me too. I saw him playing that classic black Strat at Pompeii and I thought that's what I wanna do. Now he's playing another favourite of mine, a Les Paul with P-90's. ❤ 🎸
@@CatBlackGuitars I'm happy to know he's playing that gold top since I tend to gravitate towards the LP. Also happy he played his original gold top in Another Brick in the Wall. I wonder what PF would sound like if all his work was on a LP instead of a Strat?

Talking about crying and tough dudes...I cried for a good part of his amazing concert in April 2016 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto..it was hard to explain but the emotion was intense...after the show waiting for the bus (I left my car at the hotel) I suddenly heard 4 gun shots coming from the corner...I looked in this direction and saw this big black guy who looked like a street gang member all wearing white and he was walking like he was about to collapse...he managed to walk like this in front of me the other side of the street...he crossed the street and avoid cars (even a police car who saw him but never stopped)...I could not see any blood at all and was wondering if he was joking or if it was the real thing..then he dissapear not far and learned later that it was over for him. So I saw and heard the best and the worst of the humanity in the same night...

Did you get your ticket??? I’m so grateful to get to see him live at least once in my lifetime. I thought it was too late! I suppose I’ll cry when he plays that first note, hahaha “Thank you very much, indeed.”
I have no idea if Mr. Sir David Gilmour reads any of these comments, but how can I begin to thank him for the joy, the fulfilment that his music has brought to my life? From the first time I heard "Time" at the age of 9. It was also the first song I learned to play after I worked almost a year and bought my first Strat. You've earned all of your success Sir David. Thank you for all you have done for me.
Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved to watch you play. I am now 64 and i still love it just as much! David you are a shining star and a fabulous artist. Thank you so much!!!
I'm blown away and crying. Powerful. I've loved this music since the 1960s. So grateful to have experienced this music from the beginning. I love them individually and collectively. ❤
David's eternal youth is not just a promise... His vitality is simply unbelievable. May he have a very long and beautiful life! An inspiration to all of us even at 78.
Just so incredible that the best song on this album is sung by Romany. Taking my son to Hollywood Bowl. Our first concert together. This with be a religious experience for us both. Thank you for playing for us David.
One of the greatest guitarist of all time. Plays so many different types of guitars, and the Sax on top of that. What else does he play? Love this song. So warm and inviting. Been a big Pink Floyd fan since the late 70's. Have all their albums on LP and CD. The world will be a lesser place once he's gone.
La calidad de su música es única, inmediatamente te transporta al lugar dónde fué concebida esa pieza en la mente del gran David Gilmour. Gracias Maestro por su legado!!!
Love the Album. First time captivated by a David Gilmour solo album, though have been a long time PF fan. Now got to go back and listen again to the old solo albums :)
This man has been such an influential presence in my life for nearly 40 years now. And I have an appreciation for Polly’s lyrics, as nobody knows him better than she does, and I truly believe she channels his spirit as he is no wordsmith. But I think if he could speak with his words as much as he speaks with his music, that her words represent his spirit.
My dad got me into David when I was very young and got me a vinyl for my 20th birthday. I’m 31 now and hearing this just melts my entire soul. I love you, dad! 🥹❤️

Thank you for continuing to make music that touches my soul. As good as Rattle That Lock and everything else you've ever produced. Let me know if you end up in NM and want to jam. :)
From the title "Piper" and the first few notes played, I was immediately swept away to early Floyd nostalgia. As the song progressed I heard "More", "Meddle", "Animals", "The Wall" and even "Momentary Lapse of Reason" notes and harmonies. Honestly, first time in a long time I feel chemistry with an artist producing relevant solo work, modernizing their sound while building on their past band work. Well done Mr Gilmour. See you at the Hollywood Bowl!
this chorus is just magnificent. I can't help but cry every time I hear it. the emotion is present everywhere, the softness, the strength and above all how does this man manage to make me cry with emotion every time I listen to this music? everything is beautiful. thank you david gilmour for making me feel an emotion that I hadn't felt in a very long time, making me feel joy, sadness and happiness at the same time..
Warning and wisdom, you will reap what you sow, this song invites reflection on the importance of correct decisions and temptations that promise a lot but are negative,...this is the call of the piper!!. Thank Dear Gilmour
Yes, I would agree that David Gilmour's voice can evoke a sense of nostalgia. His singing style, particularly with Pink Floyd, often carries a reflective, soulful, and introspective quality that resonates with themes of time, memory, and loss. Tracks like "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb" are examples where his voice seems to capture a longing for the past and deeper emotions, which aligns with the feeling of nostalgia. Combined with his melodic guitar playing, Gilmour's voice often creates a powerful emotional experience.
This is great music. David's incredible guitar work and singing accompanied by an excellent cast of musicians in his band makes for a great album. Can't wait to hear the rest of Luck and Strange.
@4:58 I have never seen Sir Gilmour does a guitar face like this, EVER, and it is EPIC He has always been so cool and composed aside from sticking his tongue to his inner check or raise an eyebrow. He is really digging what he is doing, which is pure magic as always
I understand what you are saying. His guitar playing touches me in a way that I cannot explain. My heart aches but rejoices at the same time when I hear his guitar solos.
It's an honor to live on the same planet and in the same time as David Gilmour.

Gilmour...
Hey there, how are you doing?
A legend in the 60’s and still a legend in 2024. What an incredible musician this man is. I never tire of his creative genius. Electric. Acoustic. Slide… If it’s got strings on it, he’ll create a sound that you know is him. A one off! As someone said earlier on here ‘I’m so happy to have been on planet Earth at the same time as Dave Gilmour'. Don’t forget, we are all just passing through. Stay safe and God bless to everyone that had the good taste to visit this space. 🙏
❤❤
78 old ;-)
@@desant8028 Only a few years away🤓
When I experienced Floyd in '69, I was about 8' away from David. What a blast, what a year🤯
I don't ever want to think of a world without him here....😢😢I have told my wife I don't ever wanna know of his passing....it will truly be heartbreaking. Shine on David❤❤❤❤
I have thought this often. I literally get tears in my eyes at the thought, and he’s still here. Whenever that day happens, it’s going to he very difficult for many of us. But we’ll get through it and I find comfort in knowing that so many others appreciate this man as much as I do.
i won't be going into work, and if i'm on way way there welM, l i'm on THE TURNING AWAY !
i feel the same.... once i lost and idol called Ayrton Senna, and ir was so heart breaking, i cried for days,i do not want to know too.....
Mr David Gilmour you never grow old and your music remains real music
The Connections (2021) [short documentary] 💖💖
I’ll tell ya what, David Gilmour can still kill it on the guitar.
And you can hear his signature on every line he plays. No doubt who it is.
Of course he can✌️😎
David's voice is still the blanket of warmth it has always been. Perfection. Thank you, DG!
@@drdalewisely I love the Shakespeare sonnet he sang - beautifully done.
I think it's a great example of how a singer can get around some weaknesses in their voices by emphasizing the strengths. I don't think of him as a power singer. His range is fine, but not extraordinary. It's just a great tone and timbre and a merciful refusal to rely on vocal gimmicks and showing off.
Legend on guitar, his six string skills overshadow his voice some what, superb singer!
70 yrs young this year and have been blessed to have been able to listen to his class music for so many years . Thank you Mr Gilmour
78... And still has that voice...
Me, too! Completely agree with you! He is a treasure. So thankful he is still making his signature great music!
71 years here, and I wouldn't trade our time in music for anything! We're so incredibly lucky!
How fabulous it is that David is still producing music in 2024.
Saving the year
Mr Gilmour and Mr Knopfler still going strong ❤ How wonderful is that!!!
They are both my biggest heroes. You have my taste of music? Can we be friends 😊
My two favorites.
Both great !
He is the sole reason I started learning the guitar. Living legend. So grateful for his existence.
Same with me actually. My uncle introduced me to PF back in the 80's and it inspired me to learn.
@@wiseguy9202 Fab!
Me too.
David and Pink Floyd been part of my live as long as early childhood.. Great joy to hear this song now I'm 64.. He still has it! Thanks DG
Aye I'm of the same mindset , to hear such quality of ' the pipers call' , ' louder than words' also ' two sun's in the sunset from waters' and I'm 51 been listening all my life from puberty and these guys are just as good as when I first heard them is incredible , if I had this much talent in my pinkie I'd probably rule the world , or bring world peace lol ✌️
I'm a pretty tough dude, but 40 years later I still cry tears of joy every time I hear you sing and play guitar....thank you so very much David! You have a special gift that will never be forgotten!
The song is somehow even better than the outcome of Game 3 Wednesday night!
Love David Gilmour but let’s go Canucks!!!
Your a 'pretty tough dude' but you cry everytime you hear him sing? Ok
@@thetrophysystem3697 Strong men also cry. -Jeffrey Lebowski.
I am now 94 years old but tomorrow is my birthday, so tomorrow I will be 95 years old, and I no longer remember why I was writing this...
You were about to say... you need a ride to go see the upcoming show.😂
Thought I'd something more to say.....
The pipers coll accordi
Piper at the gates of dawn are welcoming you, Friend. Godspeed.
@@kennethcolby6960he said stay away from the snakes he made the mistake to warn you, he’s saying the promise of eternal of youth was traded for the spoils of fame and fortune aka sold his soul to Lucifer. And his eternity is gone. It’s a warning there is no piper calling or awaiting but only Jesus and god. There is too much evidence of this even in science.
The amount of love and respect for this man can’t be put into words. All I hope is that he does one final tour in the US, cause it’s a huge goal to see him live.
All around the world please😢😢😢, in Chile we love him too
Saw him just after my 21st birthday front row at the Jay Leno show and got that big beautiful smile from him, then his concert that night, was probably the best day of my life of 39 years. 4/20/06 ❤
Did you get your ticket??? I’m so grateful to get to see him live at least once in my lifetime. I thought it was too late! I suppose I’ll cry when he plays that first note, hahaha “Thank you very much, indeed.”
Steve Gadd is 79 and still rockin'! Damn!
I would pay an insane amount of money to see this man live. Just once is all I’m asking for
Shhhh, don't raise the prices 😂
I'm convinced he will do a few concerts... i just hope i get a ticket though and a good seat!!!!
I still owe my mate the money for the ticket from Manchester in 1988…
i know a guy who mr Gillmore pays $30 an hour just to mow his lawn..... just sayin...
@@augustwest-e8ltell Dave I will do it for 25.
Excellent.
Gilmour being Gilmour, the best guitar player ever. Greetings from Curitiba/Brazil
Es un creador de la música, simplemente perfecto, encantador.
🎸🙏❤️😘
I'm blown away and crying. Powerful. I've loved this music since the 1960s. So grateful to have experienced this music from the beginning. I love them individually and collectively. ❤
this song is continue the best age of Pink Floyd ! Gratings and Regards.
David's eternal youth is not just a promise... His vitality is simply unbelievable. May he have a very long and beautiful life! An inspiration to all of us even at 78.
I can not believe! Tell me I'm awake and I'm not dreaming.... Thanks David!
ummm... you are not dreaming?
David Gilmour.....Simply the best
How wonderful. Sing like an Angel. directs like a field marshal and plays like never before.

My dad took me to see PF in 93 or 94...wish he were still here to hear this beautiful tune...Much love/respect Mr. Gilmour❣
It was 1994 and it was the Pulse tour
Just so incredible that the best song on this album is sung by Romany.
Taking my son to Hollywood Bowl. Our first concert together. This with be a religious experience for us both. Thank you for playing for us David.
One of the greatest guitarist of all time. Plays so many different types of guitars, and the Sax on top of that. What else does he play?
Love this song. So warm and inviting.
Been a big Pink Floyd fan since the late 70's. Have all their albums on LP and CD.
The world will be a lesser place once he's gone.
The sound of his voice is like a flood of memories washing over me.
I love this man. His riffs are the soundtrack of my life.
The greatest guitarist ever!!
And such a pleasing singer as well.
La calidad de su música es única, inmediatamente te transporta al lugar dónde fué concebida esa pieza en la mente del gran David Gilmour. Gracias Maestro por su legado!!!
Proof once again that you just can't keep a good musician down. Thanks David,Polly, family and friends.
Long live David Gilmore, a master.
Love the Album. First time captivated by a David Gilmour solo album, though have been a long time PF fan. Now got to go back and listen again to the old solo albums :)
Gilmour never gets old. Can't wait for the new album👍
David, never stop making music again, you are one of the few geniuses left, we love you!!! from Argentina

Music conquers old age,it is timeless.
Gracias a Dios por ser coetáneo en tiempo, inspiración, y vida a David Gilmour ✨🎸
David Gilmour is the soundtrack to my life. Those fingers are magic on the fretboard.
Incredible just how consistently amazing this man has been his entire career.
You summed it up perfectly I think so too it’s a good connection they share :)
They are the ideal combination.
Thank you David for your fantastic music that guides me since 61years.....you are a livin legend.
Live another thousand years David Gilmour! Please come to the USA! 🙏
PLEASE COME TO THE STATES

I'm 56 years old. You have been a part of my life for so much of it. Of all of the music I listen to, you continue to be at the top of the list. Thank you for continuing to make music that touches my soul. As good as Rattle That Lock and everything else you've ever produced. Let me know if you end up in NM and want to jam. :)
Hey there, how are you doing?
DAVID GILMOUR, QUE CHEGUE E ULTRAPASSE OS 500 ANOS DE VIDA👏👏👏👏👏👏
From the title "Piper" and the first few notes played, I was immediately swept away to early Floyd nostalgia. As the song progressed I heard "More", "Meddle", "Animals", "The Wall" and even "Momentary Lapse of Reason" notes and harmonies. Honestly, first time in a long time I feel chemistry with an artist producing relevant solo work, modernizing their sound while building on their past band work. Well done Mr Gilmour. See you at the Hollywood Bowl!
Love this song. I just felt it stopped too early. I was ready for another couple minutes of music when it ended.
Just had the same thought...and it's over 5 minutes long. That tells you something.
David Gilmour is a gift from the Universe and we are blessed to have him.
So beautiful😊
Message received loud and clear 🙏👍✌️🕊️❤
The emotions in his guitar playing are phenomenal! Right to the heart.
this chorus is just magnificent.
Very spiritual
Gilmour has been absolutely crushing it for after 50 years. I feel honored just to be on the same galaxy as his. Brilliant.
SAME! I’m so glad to be alive at the same time he is, and hear the music he creates!
J écoute en boucle depuis la sortie de cette pièce, c'est du grand David Gilmour
Merci pour tant de bonheur ❤
De même 😘👍
Yes, I would agree that David Gilmour's voice can evoke a sense of nostalgia. His singing style, particularly with Pink Floyd, often carries a reflective, soulful, and introspective quality that resonates with themes of time, memory, and loss. Tracks like "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb" are examples where his voice seems to capture a longing for the past and deeper emotions, which aligns with the feeling of nostalgia. Combined with his melodic guitar playing, Gilmour's voice often creates a powerful emotional experience.
Gilmour's touch never gets old
The GOAT is back, Absolutely love it. I flew over to the Hollywood Bowl, from the UK just to see him on his last tour and he was phenomenal.
I was there too. Brilliant show at the Hollywood Bowl!
Absolutely love David Gilmour ❤ I would love to meet him but even more so his GSD !! She is beautiful 🥰🥰
This is great music. David's incredible guitar work and singing accompanied by an excellent cast of musicians in his band makes for a great album. Can't wait to hear the rest of Luck and Strange.
45 Years Sir... listing every day to your music ... never get tired...
@4:58
I have never seen Sir Gilmour does a guitar face like this, EVER, and it is EPIC
He has always been so cool and composed aside from sticking his tongue to his inner check or raise an eyebrow.
He is really digging what he is doing, which is pure magic as always
I thought the same!!! He never makes the face, hahaha! Beautiful!!! ❤
Another great song thank you David Gilmour
Superb as always. One of the greatest musicians of all time
Still cranking out the best music on the planet Mr. Gilmour. Many thanks!
Love to you and family, THANK YOU FOR SO many year of joy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The music universe owes a thousand lives to Mr. Gilmour.
Honestly yeah, to be so lucky to experience it all
After 50 odd years there's only one person that can make me shed tears during a guitar solo, and he's still doing it....
I understand what you are saying. His guitar playing touches me in a way that I cannot explain. My heart aches but rejoices at the same time when I hear his guitar solos.
I never tire of music from David Gilmour since 1972.
Goosebumps... Absolutely unreal. We are truly privileged to be listening to such music
From 3:45 until the end of the track, David shows us (at the age of 78) why he's one of the greatests guitar players in History.
💯
Absolutely LEGENDARY!
i won't thank god.... but thank his mom and pop for his conception
