Small correction: the switch is not for turning from passive to active. It is a on/off switch for the EQ. The first knob is volume, second is blend fron bridge to neck pickup. The other three are bass, mid and treble. This is an awesome bass. I cant believe the quality for the price, way better than my MIM fender Jazz.
Hmmm, interesting the comment at 6:53. My bass is made by "I" is very very similar to this Cort and sounds very similar too. And it was a good hundred notes more!!!
finally a review of this bass (I am buying I think 2017 model with 5 strings) that shows also rock stuff, not just fancy jazz and funky lines :) cannot wait for my B5 to arrive, so I can mess around with it, and try full-blown BASS EQ hahaahhaha :D
Nice review, kinda started wanting one! And it would not be a bad thing to do more of this kinda stuff. And you noticed that there is own hatch for that battery, so no need to take apart whole housing when changing battery. :P Hope everything is peachy on your life!
Cheers buddy! I was going to be filming the second series of the show in Finland, and was going to try and get to see you, but thats all fallen through now. Bad times - long story. Anyhow, how are ya man? Hope you're good :) I found some random videos of our Les Claypool gig the other day!
Free Bass Lessons Shame, that would have been cool thing to do, also i think Finland has lot to offer, show like that. Hope life is good for you, even if that dint go through, is it? I am fine, lots of same old, same old and the music keeps me going, 4 bands at the moment and record collection keeps on growing. Also doing bit less of traveling, which needs to be changed. Really would like to get back to England and maybe visit Ireland or Scotland too. We finally got our album released with Cast to Wolves( ctw.fi), mix is bit weird, bit lo-fi but not too bad. So we are now working to release seven inch at end of the year, for kinda update how we sound today. Also check Dredged on bandcamp( dredged.bandcamp.com/releases ) if you have time. Good thing happening to this band. And then there is 2 bands bubbling under, some grindcore and blackmetal.
MasaTheSlayer Ah man, Cast to Wolves sounds like bands I used to gig with. Miss that intensity and sound. Love it! Lovely distorted sound on that bass as well :D Dredged sound AWESOME. You should be proud there man. Really tight heavy stuff :D Good to see you're busy with music. Looks like you're gigging a lot as well. Get your ass over here when you can, and we'll jam again :)
Free Bass Lessons Thanks a ton and i really appreciate these kind wordds. There was a lot of problems when recording and mixing of ctw, but at least we managed to come through and people were just training how to do things. Also there is only one guitar cause we kinda forgot to record more and i dint think i could double guitars on song called It. Everything is DIY except factory that made physical things like vinyl and covers. Also it sounds even better on vinyl, cause those wav files has been mastered for vinyl by professional. Same with Dredged, except at least not yet, no physical release. And i don't know do people hear it, but drums are recorded live in rehearsal room and string instruments are recorded in bedroom and they are maybe too fat for those drums. All and all i am happy what we have and what is coming. There could be more gigs, but maybe that balances out when we start doing gigs with Dicktator( grindcore) and Misanthropic Forest( blackmetal with silly name). But still feel that we could be more active. And i really would like to get there again too. :)
Hi. I have a bit of a problem. The wire on 9v battery connector on my B4 bass just snapped, got disconnected from the connector. Is there an alternative to this connector because changing the battery with this connector is a nuisance. When the bass was brand new, the connector was too snug and it was really hard to separate the battery away from the connector. I think I even bent my fingernail once or twice, combating the darn thing. Needless to say, having to apply strength whenever pulling the battery off the connector is what caused this problem that I have now, a wire snapped due to all the tugging , and now the bass is useless. On top of that, the length of the wires leading to the connector were made too short to comfortably exchange batteries. Always had to fiddle with it because of that as well. So you can imagine the frustration, a short wire combined with a connector that has a pitbull bite on the battery, housed in a very small hole. I could solder the connector back on and extend the short running wires, but the problem will return eventually. Is there a better 9v connector or a slot that I can just slide the 9v battery in and out with ease, that can fit on the B4?
I bought mine from down in Snodland and had it delivered up the country. I have had nothing but problems with mine and it had to be taken in and repaired because of a problem with the jack. It was keep cutting out and even now i cannot use leads that are mostly metal because that cuts it so i can only use the moulded plastic leads. I also don't think the equalizer is up to much and you get a lot of interference from it on certain settings with a scratchy sound. It is a good Bass to play with the weight and thin neck so mine might just be a one off fuck up so i don't want to put people off !
Long story there, but no I haven't sold it. Its a cracking Bass. I'll be honest, the reason I haven't played it is because I snapped to strings and intended to do a complete re-string. Just haven't got round to it yet!

Good point I noticed this today. It is not a passive/active switch

Cort offers awesome bang for the buck basses. A lot of guitar/bass brands are made at their factories

Excellent Review!! I'm from Argentina. I've decided to buy a Cort bass and I'm between the B5 and the GB75. Did you test the GB 75 o GB74? Thanks!!

Low end seems buzzy. Not sure if the signals clipping of those pickups are really nasty. Great review though
I can't find your review on that clip on bass tuner uuuugh!! What do you recommend?
Bartolini do not do active pick ups. Active eq.
WAT

I came just to say, i still have mine, i don't need anything else, still rocking since 2017 for everything i want to play.
How much was it?

Feels great to play as well :)

Passive pickups active eq
Not a switch for passive active. Switch is for EQ on/off. Instrument won't play without a battery, it's just an active bass. No passive mode.
So did you get to keep that thing for plugging it lol.
Lol, no chance!
what happened to your Spector? did you sell it? didn't you get some sort of endorsement from them?
Long story there, but no I haven't sold it. Its a cracking Bass. I'll be honest, the reason I haven't played it is because I snapped to strings and intended to do a complete re-string. Just haven't got round to it yet!
