What I think is most telling about this bass is how expressive and happy Lars looks while he plays it -- really speaks to the notion of it being a "True Player's Bass."
After MM and Fender basses I bought a Cort Action V Plus (for 200$ new) as a backup bass, but I was amazed of the quality of this most cheapest guitar I've ever played on, eventually I ended up playing on this Cort most of the time and it's become my main instrument !
I tried the 5 string version today at my local music store. I was seriously blown away by just how playable it was! Just so amazing and a serious upgrade option for me as I have a Godin 5 string that I have sunk way too much money into and am over trying to fix the issues. Cort have gone up and up ever since I puchased my first guitar from them - an X-TH - and I can't see them ever slowing down! Great products from these guys!
@@gerard7059 First off, its really an incredible bass for the price, Im really happy with my purchase! But this is literally my one complaint about this bass actually, the string spacing is just not wide enough to comfortably play with slap style. But it might just be me not being that experienced with slapping. The bridge does allow a very small amount of string space adjustment though, but it hardly makes a difference in my opinion. Mine is currently at just over 17mm.
@@basstheworldofficial You guys are doing an incredibly good job, in my opinion. The player is perfect too. He can play any technique with huge musicality and groove (while...yes. WHILE other reviewers happens to be a bunch of metalheads that can only play with a pick. Nothing against picks, but picked bass sound is maybe 10% of the sound possibilities on a bass.). Ha! I literally bought a Cort C4 Artisan 6 months ago. Great sounding bass for a ridiculous price. Sounds as good as my german warwick corvette and it was a quarter of the price.
The Cort factory makes a bunch of guitars for Ibanez (along with other brands) - they quite often end up making models that are pretty close to things they make for other people.
@Jpkrao You're talking about basses with different price points. You're non-sense, go flex somewhere else. These people are happy with what their budget can achieve. I hope you play well since you have nice basses.
Ibanez SR505, Lakland Skyline 55-01, and probably G&L M-2500 are all produced by Cort and based of B5 in regards of the woods and the preamp and the pickups (with exception of G&L). They even re-use the control holse drill pattern.
This Video was a great help. I ordered exactly the same C4. But after seeing this video i changed my order to the B4. It came today. Absolutely great stuff. Thanks for this great inspiration and help!!!
Wow that looks like a great deal in the $500-600 range! High quality pickups and tuners, which is nice since those are usually the first thing I upgrade on lower to mid-tier basses. I also dig the look and tone, plus active/passive option. I’m definitely gonna check one of these out if I can find one around me.
Hello Gregor I purchased one Cort 4 string model and you were so correct this bass is a monster an great for all kinds of music So now i just purchased a Cort GB 74 Gig and love it too thanks so much !!!!
I recently bought the B4 Element. Very nice to play, great tones, light, great finish and looks way more expensive than it costs. A serious upgrade from my bargain basement SX basses. Love it. Everyone should try one.
Just to keep in mind that Cort is also producing nearly identical basses with the same preamp badged as Ibanez SR500 and SR505, Lakland Skyline 44-01 and 55-01, and looks like G&L Tribute M-2000 and M-2500.
I got one of these basses sent to check over, and the string spacing was perfect for me (think it might be 16mm at the bridge or close), but the neck was very chunky indeed, and I didn't feel there was enough body at the forearm sculpt and the top half of the body to hang my arm over comfortably and play, because I'm used to Jazz Basses. I felt like my right arm position would need to be like Jeff Berlin's.

Hi you guys do really good work on these videos. I really like all the aspects of this bass. Could you tell me what is the closest 5 string FRET LESS bass to all the aspects you highlighted here - either by Cort, Franz, or another maker??
I have a similar active bass from cort. The passive mode has lower Output and is rather quiet compared to the active mode. Btw the active mode on these basses sounds fantastic.
I have Cort B4 Action which is I believe good bass for beginners. I would like to upgrade my gear (just to spent money because I have nothing against my current bass) and you conviced me that I should probably stick with Corts! Do you recommend any other of their series?
There was a Cort hollow body guitar that I was in love with about ten years ago I've always regretted not buying. I was thinking about it today, and now that I'm looking for a new Bass, this video may have talked me into it.
Cort as a brand has sort of been considered budget or beginner for quite some time, but Cort as a company makes a massive percentage of instruments sold under other brands’ names. Their manufacturing processes are top of the line, it just comes down to what someone orders from them and the Quality Control performed before they reach the end-user’s hands.
I would be so glad if you could reply me. I am thinking of buying the 5 strings and change the pickups and the preamps or either one. So,would you recommend me that? If that's the case which pups should fit in this bass??
Hi Guys! I just played the five string B5 today at a local store and was quite impressed. Now, I was actually planning to get the Sire V3 5 string both are of the same price almost. Which one should I get it?
The sire preamp is raved for sounding great. But up to you if you want the fender jazz vibe from the sire or a Ibanez SR like vibe with the Cort. I have a Korean B4 plus from 2005 and had a sire V7. B4 solid string tension like a LTD bass whereas jazz/V7 felt slinkier
@@romeou4965 Ah, thanx for getting back. I loved playing the B5, tone palette, feel wise and super light weight but my only issue is with the preamp. The V3 5 is not available at the store so had no idea
Thanks for the review, this bass sounds awesome for the price range, with a very clear sound. But I can't find the B5 online, the B4 is available on the Cort website but the B5 isn't...
This model just came out and as far as I know the first ones just started shipping. So it might take a few more weeks until they’ll be listed in webshops
I own an older model Cort B4 and although fit and finish are superb, and it's such a beautiful instrument, I find that the very low frequencies, are just out of control. They produce this fat, mushy sound that creates kind of an aural "fog" which disconnects me from the instrument. When my playing becomes fast enough I find myself making mistakes which I just don't make when playing another bass. The problem is that if I turn down the "low" potentiometer it just thins out and weakens the sound too much - obviously getting rid of the unwanted frequencies also gets rid of useful frequencies as well. The bridge pickup is ok but I don't like bridge pickups in any bass guitar anyway. I'm not up for experiments with aftermarket pickups or preamps - it's just going to go and I'll just get something with a more raspy, mid-oriented tone.
No doubt. Looks alot like my SR540ZW just without the exotic zebrawood. Same fret markers/inlays. Have the MK-1 pickups and all Oh and same hardware too just gold instead of black
