I really say that I love in how you line both versions of metal gear solid like that wow is so tight on and well put buddy
The atmosphere of MGS 1 is phenomenal, from cinematography to colouring, to soundtrack and sound design.
There's a haunting nature to it, that's resonated all these years. MGS2 has it but in a different way. Not just the creepiness of Arsenal Gear and the S3 Plan, but just the modern jazz music all the way through aludes to mystery.
@@pacman_birthmark I agree about both of your points. I prefer the OG, personally, but can see the sense of your comment about the second game, knowing its story and themes.
@@tyo101 MGS2 is probably the game I've played through most, but MGS1 made me fall in love with gaming. Everything about MGS1's aesthetic is amazing.
@@pacman_birthmark That's understandable. The mechanics of 2 were incredible for the time. I've simply preferred the more serious tone of MGS 1 since playing it, before MGS 2 came out.
Soundtrack 10/10 I even have "The Armory" [intruder 2] as my ringtone lol

Mgs3 is my favorite and what I consider the best but the tone is better in 1 and the setting
More and more I’m starting think MGS1 May very well be the best in the series. For an old 1999 PS1 game that is timeless to this day.

I think MGS1 was best for gameplay and 2nd best for story. MGS2 was best for story and 2nd best for gameplay. MGS3 was tied with the others for 2nd place for both gameplay and story, because the competition is fierce. 😅
@@surrealistidealisty’all really just disrespecting mw3 huh? I’m a huge MGS nerd and 1 is my second favorite and I can’t wait a remake/remaster of the original. But to not even mention mgs3 is wild

@@surrealistidealist I respect it, to me mgs3 and mgs1 story are equally good. Both tied for 1st if I had to choose 1 over the other I’d have to slightly give it to 3. Gameplay though sadly I’d have to say 5 is the best gameplay wise even though its my least favorite game. But between the first 3 it’s very very tough. Because 2 introduced new mechanics that polished on 1 but then 3 had the hunger, injury and camo system. Which I know some people thought the camo system wasn’t great because of the menus. Yet for some reason, to me it felt more immersive having to change the camos myself. I don’t know. Either way almost every mainline MGS game is a masterpiece in itself

I was crying when I came back mainly because snake did it he escaped his past but it grabbed him back plus at the start of msg4 the original Roy Campbell as the one in mgs2 was a ai awesome games the way he gets nightmares in mgs4 means it affects him still
First MGS aged like a fine wine. Even though the game has over 2 decades on it's back, it still looks great to me.
When I started playing MGS4 I didn’t know that you go back to Shadow Moses. I was completely blown away with incredible nostalgia, even when the memory flash back happened. The then to the now, how it was recreated as it was before. I loved this master piece from Kojima.
This just reminded me of how scary Gekkos are in MGS4

@@thefallen2220I started off as someone who was just in it for the Max0r haha funny memes, so for about the first few times playing MGR I was completely scared (even though English is my first language idk the correct emotion/word) of the gekkos
Shadow Moses has always been the most unique location I feel like in the MGS Series. While other places that I’m sure many players have wanted to see such as Outer Heaven, Zanzibar Land, and so on. I always found Shadow Moses to be the best atmosphere for the series. The isolation of everything in a cold and dark setting just adds to the gameplay. The soundtrack fits perfectly in every location. However not only is it my favorite location due the atmosphere, but the events behind in. Shadow Moses is truly where things turn for Solid Snake. Fighting Ex Members of Foxhound, Meeting his twin brother, and finding out he is a clone of the Les Enfants Terribles. So many things hitting him all at once, plus bringing in other new characters such as Meryl, Otacon, and Revolver Ocelot. It was always nice to know that it left a huge impact not only on Snake, but the players as well. The flashbacks in MGS4 are always the best part in my opinion, especially with the atmosphere being more reminisce and old state. It’s a shame we never got to see the old areas of the map. However see the extra locations that we didn’t even know about in MGS1 was still a great experience as it added more to the island itself. As always, Great Video.

Looking back now MGS4 has a lot of gray color tones almost like a black and white movie. Whereas MGS1 has some gray but slightly better lighting effects.
the way I see it, phantom pain was setting up the first of mgs series, then a modern take on mgs solid snake. Then Kojima is done, but that didn't happen. Also, Hideo might have brought konami down financially if he ever did, considering the way his last mgs games were made.

Hahahah when I first played mgs4 and heard Roy say I’m going back to shadow Moses I burst into laughter and ran around in my room a little bit
So nostalgic, making it all the more horrifying when that machine popped in from the roof. Shadow Moses truly is like a tech-haunted base then 😅
4:06 I always found it bizarre that he got shot and had invulnerability frames as part of a cutscene. It feels like a fourth wall break to acknowledge the video game rules like this.

Conclusion: MGS environment and atmosphere building on inferior Play Station 1 was so perfect, even the original creators couldn't replicate it on PS3!!

Man. If Kojima would at least remaster this game with modern graphics/controls, and a 3rd person camera. The game would sell like hot cakes. So much potential. I just can't wait for a day when I see a trailer. With David Hayter as Snake. The trailer starting with snakes iconic words.

I never played much of 4 and had no idea you went back to Shadow Moses (in a way).
It funny the special service elevator that takes you to the two other rooms in the northwest corner of the blast furnace wasn’t there in MGS1 and The Twin Snakes remake they should’ve put there just for show you can’t access it are anything

@M.PWRHOLIC A lot of the soundtracks from this video are from MGS: Twin Snakes. The one at 5:15 however is from MGS4; it's the soundtrack from the Casting & Rolling Facilities in Act 4.

If Hideo Kojima could have released the MGS1 after Sony issued PS2.....
Can we talk about David Bowie, The use of The man who sold the world cover, and how he looks exactly like Jack Steven, the Diamond Dogs disc, the Lazarus song in his last album, etc. My theory is that Kojima will announce MGS 5 and David Bowie will be performing live during the trailer.

Considering that the bodies in the Gray Fox hallway are not there, it's likely that the chief's was removed along with them.
MGS4 just needs releasing from the PS3 onto PC. No remaster needed, just run at 4K, 60fps cap and 16x anisotropic and MSAA. I’ve ran 7th gen games like this, EG Max Payne 3, which looked garbage on PS3, on PC and they look stunning, like a modern game from a few years ago, not a 12-15 year old game.
It never gonna be on pc its a PS3 game but i Hope one day it will be on ps5 pc IS not the best for playing métal Gear
