I'll be 70 this year and growing up in Cali. we spent years surfing, mostly Cardiff ... pipes and rivermouth .. you know depending... working class kids.. but surf devotees .... and of all the surf videos out there none has caught the essence of what it's like to surf on a big day like you did in this video .... the pull outs through the wave.... the climb to the top to get out and see how deep the water really is from up there... etc... many props and all of the angle/perspectives it took to pull off an experience that brought it all rushing back.... Jon O from Idaho (now) thankful for young entrepreneurs like you that keep it alive for us.

this wave is so terrifying man idk, like it is actually kinda perfect, but just the way it ledges up out of nowhere is insane. 11:28
You can read the sections, and I'm sure they did a bit of reading via the drone before getting it, they knew when to stall and when to speed up when it got shallow, it probably helps to have the right equipment too, and plenty of them just in case. I wonder how many boards got broke surfing it...🤔 as Nate said, 'a lot were 90% unmakeable and they got battered and then there was the paddling', don't forget, we only get to see a half hour footage from a 3 hour session...

I liked John's "conservative" approach to start out. Absolutely essential to avoid injury at a spot like that. I'd say you're living the dream but that looks way better than any dream.
Me too - although, Nate's "no guts no glory" approach reaps different rewards I would say. Both got their style and strategy wired in

hands down the best single session I've seen. Good waves, good rides, good views, no crowds. I've always imagined what it feels like to surf a perfect secret spot(I thought secret spots don't exist anymore in current era) and nate shows me that today😊

People need to appreciate how hard it is surfing a new break for the first time, especially with no one out to reference take off area or when to kick out.
Nate especially does this repeatedly and I hope people recognise how much skill and ocean knowledge is involved to make it look so easy.

So dreamy when you go searching and actually find a wave. Honestly though, I wouldn't have paddled into any if I just rocked up to this setup in my boat with no info and nobody else around. Of course I don't have the guts to paddle into a lot of the waves you do. Very impressive

Love when you go on these adventures...It's all unspoiled/uncrowed places that very few will ever see....always good to get away and find new barrels that are "pure"....Always surf with respect for the ocean and give thanks to God for the oppurtunity to travel to these places..

Saw your pt1 and I still haven't recored from that 1 wave that came out of nowhere, almost got you, but as close as you can get without getting smoked! So now the swell angle may have changed enough so some are makeable? Awesome adventure, scary AF and we enjoy the end result while you get closer to death on some of these SLABS you bravely face! That deep blue water is my health center for sure. Couldn't afford Oahu after 30 years there and are now living in Waimea, Big Island, Hawai'i. but through you Nathan and John, and your media crew enable me to be almost a friend along for the ride, and owe you a debt of gratitude for allowing us to tag along and enjoy whenever we want. Congratulations on being voted "Surfer of the Year" Nathan, and of John 2x world champ! You both rule!!

JJ's 4 barrel wave, absolute quality and thought it was the wave of the day and then came the next 3 videoed waves and rarrrrrrrr, great waves 👌 that wave's a gem, but it's a steam train at times and the epic ones I get the impression that you had to avoid them and time every wave to the inch otherwise you risked getting cut. It's like it's a huge boulder that's been dumped on that reef and barnacles have grown on it, madness! Totally, totally jealous of you guys, I wish we'd found waves like that when we were young, and I was fit enough, great vid, thanks for sharing and glad to see you bros together surfing 👍 what happened to Ivan?
