Today, it would Only be funny or more importantly, ‘acceptable’ if a person of color were telling the joke.
White comics risk a forced career change if they dare utter ANY humorous words about any another tribe.
Comics of color such as Richard Pryor & Eddie Murphy have always enjoyed the freedom of Zero comedic restrictions regarding race or political correctness. One recent exception: Dave Chapelle got pushback from the LGBT community for his recent Netflix Special.

All those other comics just wish they could pull off an act as brilliant as Foster's. So funny.

      John W Hardin
Among other great things that have folded up are The Greatest Show On Earth and humanity's sense of humor; it was murdered by those who are easily offended and instantly judgmental.
What's most heartbreaking and terrifying is that common sense is currently on life support.
Don't try to blame millennials for everything; you'd be surprised how many times my sister, who's a baby boomer, asks "Are you awake?" after I respond to her calling my name.
Plus, I'm a member of the notorious Generation X who insists that the best way that kids learn from the mistakes of their elders and betters is the hard way:
They must make those same mistakes themselves.

Comedians are known to have very, very high IQ's. And, they are known (like portrait artists) to see beyond the facade, beyond the fake...& they expose us all for the hyprocrits that we All are; however, they possess the unique talent to make us laugh about ourselves & make us alright with it!!

Good point by Foster - You mean NO ONE from All In The Family could show for Carroll O'conner's roast? Either they were rude, or speaks volumes to what Carroll was like behind the scenes.

I'm not sure that the problem was Carol's. Rob Reiner is a well known douchebag and Struthers was probably out looking for sandwiches.
