  • One of the world's most celebrated bridges, the Rialto Bridge has spanned the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy, for nearly the last 1,000 years. The original wooden structure burned down in the 14th century and was replaced by the current stone bridge in 1591. It was designed by Antonio da Ponte whose design won out over the likes of Palladio, Vignola and even Michelangelo for its single-arch solution!

Love these! Wish you would produce a long documentary. I bet you could easily get a channel on Discovery or History channel. Your work is excellent!

Fascinating explanation that the bridge may have had multiple spans.
