ROCKY'S ITALY: Rome - The Turtle Fountain
Designed by Jacopo della Porta at the end of the 16th century, the delightful Turtle Fountain in Rome, Italy, is a hidden gem located in the Jewish Ghetto area of the Eternal City. The water source of the fountain is the Acqua Vergine spring, which has been providing water to Rome for thousands of years. Originally consisting simply of 4 young nudes reaching up towards the basin, the later addition of the turtles dramatically enhanced the dynamic of the fountain.
