Hey all! If you're looking for Venice tips, I've just published this guide on the best things to do in the city, with some surprises that most guides don't cover. I hope you enjoy it: ruclips.net/video/sov5orPwcUI/видео.html
I visited Venice two days right after Easter April 2023. Venice was raining all day. The Gondola guests wore raincoats, not much for the pretty picture. Rialto bridge had professional trickers to attract you in gambling. The entire Italy has free drinking fountains but in considering that all of these pipes were rusted very bad, I wondered the inner pipes could not be better shape. The smaller museums were closed because of the off season, BTW. In short, early April trip advantage was less traffic and fees but the wet weather and more closed places. Foods: Tapas is the must try and Steak restaurant was supper.
Excellent video that provides a lot of useful information. Another option for accommodation is a tourist apartment. We stayed in an old building with the apartment at ground/water level. The bonus was a small outdoor patio area fronting on to one of the smaller canals. It was once a loading dock for the building. Our best memories were sitting out and relaxing on this dock with a glass of wine and being within arms length of the occasional gondola passing by. One final tip is to get the vaporetto pass. We used it to visit Murano and Burano as well as many trips up and down the Grand Canal.
Thank you for such an informative video. My family and I have been to Venice a few times and we still love getting lost and finding ourselves in the Real Venice with the locals. It's such an amazing city.. Everyone should explore Venice at least once in their life.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I love how much you love Venice haha. I feel like I’m also long overdue for a revisit. Hope we both make it back there soon :)

Hi Christina, thank you for sharing. I'm planning on going to Italy in November. This video is great and will help me plan the trip. I will also read the comments below to learn more. Thank you again!!
Grazie mille. Another great video. I have been to Venice 3 times, going again in October with a friend who has not been to Italy. This helps me plan a trip that she will enjoy and a good reminder of just why I keep returning. My last trip I was in Venice, stayed in Castello, for a month but still so much I haven't seen. 🥰Italy
Complimenti Christina. Come italiano che regolarmente visita Venezia, trovo la tua guida estremamente accurata ed interessante. Tutti i tuoi consigli e indicazioni sono corretti e utilissimi per visitare in maniera intelligente una città così bella e particolare come Venezia. Ottimo lavoro! 👍
Your videos are so informative. I really enjoy the practical tips you share. Planning a 3 week long 25th anniversary trip to Italy with Venice as a stop!😍🇮🇹😍
You forgot the most important thing: to ALWAYS walk on the right side. ALWAYS. People actually live, word and study there, and having tourists ruin your day by not letting you pass really sucks
OMG Even Americans in the USA walk down the street or an aisle in the supermarket on the left. So annoying!!! We aren’t in London, stay to the right!! 😅
Thank you so much. Great video. Going to Venice next year June and want to be equipped with much knowledge as possible. Your video is the icing on the cake.❤❤
Oh my goodness! I have a trip to Italy, will be in Venice for 2 days and from the looks of these pictures I'm getting claustrophobic. Too many people! I appreciate the tips and information you've shared in this video. Thanks!
Going to Venezia this Feb! I accidentally got a hostel in the Mestre area instead of one in actual Venezia. But if I can't change it, I'll make do with this advice. Thanks so much!!
Awesome info! Thank you so much! I learned everything I need to know in advance of our trip. Super helpful! Also, I don't mind paying for a clean toilet. Trust me, I've been to some scary toilets in Greece, Rome and London and I will pay the price especially if im getting more than 3 sheets of toilet paper!😂 I will be taking the travel size toilet rolls this time AND hand wash/cloths.
Pigeons are not gross at all. They are in general a very healthy bird, not to mention one of the smartest birds that has successfully colonised pretty much everywhere on earth other than the poles.
The Alilaguna water shuttle is NOT the same thing as the vaporetto (which is run by ACTV and is more like a water bus, with many more lines to get around). If you’re trying to get back to the airport and you get on a vaporetto instead of the Alilaguna boat, you’re going to be surprised. Also - bring mosquito repellent or treated clothing. The Venetian mosquitoes don’t mess around.
Hi Christina, your videos and tips are so helpful. Question, would you recommend buying water taxi ticket ahead at of time with get your guide site? or buy when you arrive at venice airport? Thanks.
Dear Happy to Wander, Thanks for your blogs on several places in Europe that I have watched in the last few weeks. I would like to ask for a favor but in the nicer way than the others posts that your speech was too fast. I felt the same way that I had hard time to catch up with you. I liked to watch more of your materials. I learned through the presentation program and customer service program that there will be a delay from the senders to the receivers especially via sound that the general public shall be able to receive the messages as intended. Would you mind to slower your speech a bit. I heard that we could program the video slower too. Thanks
Water taxi now in 2024, I think it is 130 Euros. Do not remember, is that price per person, or for the full taxi itself ? For example 130.00 E for two people ? Been to Venice several times, but have used always the Alilaguna. I am returning this April. Compliments. Great video, well done
@@joesacco2004 The Alilaguna was find one more time. I looked at the water taxi but those are expensive and I had only three stops to my destination. It was OK, then. I will be returning to the airport as well with the same service.
Thanks for the info! One thing I don't understand is the set price of gondola rides. I have found many sites that offer them for the 30-50 Euro range. Am I missing something? Are these legit? Thanks in advance!
be mindful ... having booked well in advance for a 30 minute trip to celebrate my birthday we in fact got just over 15 minutes they just are not interested
@@slojam100 I am sorry to hear that. We ended up not even going to Venice after we heard the horror stories of other travellers in Rome and Florence. Sad that a former "bucket list" item has become so mundane.
There is so much more to venice than just a boat ride. The city is amazing. Please don't be put off. We thoroughly enjoyed it Albeit extremely hot when we went in mid August 🥵🥵
Why is these countries appreciated even when they flood, are the same crazy crowded places however most Asian destinations are frowned upon when they actually have generous people.
Nice video, and good to see all the tourist locations you visited. Shame about the grilled fish, the best Italian food is always very simple but that wasnt a good example. If you're producing these guidance videos for others to follow please can you pronounce the words in the correct language (this isnt Spain.) Thank you.
That part of the video has not been true for a long time. Nowadays all buildings must have their own sewage system and they don't discharge grey waters in the canals anymore. It's still not a good idea to swim in the canals, but mostly because of the pollution generated by traffic.

I was just in Venice a week ago. Stayed closer to the train station and I think it was perfect to avoid having to drag luggage super far.
Ooh nice to hear you had a good experience staying in that area!! Hope you had a great time in Venice. Super jealous you were just there haha
@@HappytoWander haha. It was my first time and I had such a nice visit! I love Venice!
Thank you. I am going in September and just booked my hotel by the train station 😊
I just booked a short stay in Venice before hopping on a cruise. I also chose to stay in Santa Croce to drop of luggage and be close to train.

You didn’t say where the best places are for food lol.
I live in Venice and the daily fee will never happen. They've been talking about it for years. There's no real way to enforce it.
Can they at least charge the cruise ships? And 5 euros is too little, should be at least 15-20 euros!
The 5€ fee is no deterrent, it's a budget filler for the city. Extra 5€ is irrelevant to anyone who can afford to visit Venice.
Keep your distance from strangers ? Sounds like American phobia lol In all my years of visiting never had any issues with 'strangers'.
