    I hate nonsense videos created by absolute morons, gas bagging for half hours to explain how to install a device using one hand and holding the camera with the other.... dumb!
    Anyway, I'm not going to talk at all, pictures are more accurate.
    This is an Installation guide to fit a Eonon D5166 into a BMW X5 E53. I hope you make some use out of this.

    I just realize that is too much trouble for me, LOL. But this video is way much better than others.

    Hi Dude, you are a legend. I searched so many videos, and yours was the only one that made any sense.
    The c bus connecting could have done with a little more detail but after a bit more thought it worked.
    I'd like to know in which universe this should take 30 minutes like the manufacturer recommends?
    Thanks.

    Am I missing something? you don't use the 17 pin plugs. Got it. The two 40 pin plugs gets used in the boot area for the original harness and BM54. SO what plugs into the head unit? Is there one single plug at one and of the extension and 4 at the other end or what?

      Hi,
      Sorry I didn’t get what you said.
      Send me some photos then I can guide you as much as I can.

    In the boot, did you remove the panel that has the two auxiliary sockets or did you just feed the cable behind it? I could not work out how this panel comes off.

      Check the step-3 lift the leaver up to disengage the plug, then follow the rest. it is easy... good luck.

    Where does ground connect to? And also, the illumination cable for the buttons?? Please help!

    • @VaniaLolham
      @VaniaLolham  5 лет назад

      Hi, ground is done through the main harness cable and you don’t need to worry about. Illumination is also integrated in the same way. No need to worry about anything else.

    Where can I get the new plug that takes the small white and black inserts; that then plugs back into the original interface unit (shown at 1:41). This seems to be the only part that I'm missing. And where do the green/yellow/black/red wires go? You don't show that in your video. Thanks.

    • @RobF768
      @RobF768 6 лет назад +1

      Nevermind.. figured it out. The company i bought from seicane.com did not send me the correct extension cable; which is missing the additional connector you have. bad service too after receiving stereo.

      Yes, I was going to point out, the whole kit contains everything you need for a full transition. The only thing I haven’t spend time to work out is the controls on the steering wheel to function with this system. If you worked it out before me then post it so everyone else can benefit from your discovery 👍

    I have X5 2003 and I have the 6 FT harness, but it doesn't seem to be needed? (I don't have the DSP) However I'm not sure if I am supposed to do anything with the white plug that I have unplugged from the radio part (not the CD unit) Eonon seem to work without it, however there is cd changer in the trunk and I think that the connector I don't have connected is supposed to go to that trunk unit, but there is no plug to accommodate that connector anywhere in the harness. Also what do I do with the GPS antenna? Where is it supposed to be placed and how is the wire supposed to be routed?
    Same for the USB plug? It just dangles there from the head unit. How is it supposed to be routed and to where so it looks somewhat like it belongs.

      Put the GPS antenna on top of the dash right corner (Australia) or left corner ( USA). Then pass the cable through the gap and connect to the back of the unit same with wifi. USB & mic, just push it through cigarette tray. What type cable did you get? Show us the picture.

    thank you for your response , I need a 14 foot long cable that goes from trunk to dash , like the one you showed in your video , my unit came with 2 short cables almost 1 foot long , not long enough for what I need ,
    where can I find the 40 pin 14 foot (almost ) long cable.
    thank you.

      @VaniaLolham  7 лет назад

      Richard Widick can you show me the cable? It could be interfacing with the existing cable.

  • @eldesl
    @eldesl 5 лет назад

    VaniaLolhan, you could with this installation make the speakers work with the factory dsp or you had to pull the wires of the speakers and connect directly on the cable of 6 meters?

    • @VaniaLolham

      Eldes Lopes de Souza
      Hi, you don’t have to do anything else, just use the long cable , it is for that reason as well as all other functions.., cheers..

    One more question, did you have to remove the cage from the radio/cd area or does your unit fits in there?

    • @VaniaLolham
      @VaniaLolham  7 лет назад +1

      Robin Meade
      It fits perfectly but only top two screws holding it, you have to use the extra brackets already provided to secure the lower part. I just back fill under the unit with a rubber block to hold the weight . Otherwise, lower section keep popping out.

      Thank you for super fast reply. I'll try to get some photos of the problematic issues next weekend (I'm not gonna have time during week to mess with it)
      Have you also installed rear view camera? Did your unit come with it?

    • @VaniaLolham

      cage stays. unit fits perfectly.

  • @Moezer

    I just did the install on the newer ga7166s I had to hack the hell out of the inner bracket of the radio..... It fits good on the top but it's bulging on the bottom... Where do you use those 2 steel brackets that the kit come with? I had to put foam sided tape to fit it snug thanks

    • @VaniaLolham
      @VaniaLolham  7 лет назад

      I didn't use them because I couldn't work out how to fit them,but instead I packed the bottom with robber door stop. take out the bottom panel in order to insert the rubber under the unit, then you can silicon glue it in place so it doesn't slip out while driving on a rugged road. It also works as a shock absorber. Congratulations, you did it.

      What type of car do you have what year, if your car doesn’t interface with the unit then you need to install it as stand alone and complete set of speakers to suit with right the impedance.

      Sorry what is dsp?
      I’m not literate with the terminology.
      What you see in the video is what you get really... in my case works well. I play mp3 via micro SD every day. Reverse camera works well too.
      Cheers

      my x5 factory radio has dsp and is w/o navi.... Digital Sound Processor... on your factory head unit did you have button that said dsp? which means theres is amp in the back that controls my speakers and the head unit communcates with the amp.
