Scar is physically more capable and the dude kept up with Wrath in Brotherhood. Even though he was weak from Buccaneer, they said that he still seemed impossible to defeat but Scar kept up. So I would like to say that Scar in Brotherhood is stronger than this one. Also the fight in Brotherhood was on a train.

We never see Pride go all out, and 2003 Lust seemed pretty good at combat.
From the placement of the blood, and from how all that blood shoots out, it's safe to assume that Scar spattered Kimblee's freakin' heart! Talk about brutal!
He is younger actually. In Brotherhood, Scar was an adult when the Ishvalan genocide happened. He was also a protector, so to speak. Scar in this series was about Edward's age, and very clearly a civilian. Thats why he has a different body type than Scar from brotherhood.
I saw fma before fmaB and while I think that Brotherhood is better in Most ways there are a few things I liked better in fma. Greed in the first series was awesome from start to finish. In Brotherhood it took awhile for him to become as awesome. Lust was more interesting in fma, Greed's crew got more screentime and Bradley revealed his eye much later which resulted in one hell of a WTF moment. Generally though, Brotherhood felt better.
This is a hot take, but I honestly really like 2003 Kimblee (kimbley). Despite being less of a fleshed out character than his Mangahood version, I honestly really felt his presence here since he had a bit more to do in the story. Super intimidating.

I think the only problem i had with this kimblee is for no discernible reason he could survive for about a minute with his heart blown out. But other than that, it shows us that even if you're idealistic like al and want to save people from themselves, we humans are like the horse. The one you can bring to a river but one you can't make drink. This version is more brutal and closer to how characters with super natural powers would act in real life. And scars redemption in 2003 was much better. Though he wasn't nice or kind like Ed and al, he feels more fleshed out and human here.
And the energy, the tone, the vibe, the explanation about the origins and weakness of the homunculi, the power source of alchemy, and the other side of the gate are all way better than Brotherhood. Brotherhood only handled Kimblee (except his death) and Bradley better.
First version is more drama and story oriented. Brotherhood is more action oriented. Whatever you prefer. Personally I prefer the first version of the anime a thousand times compared to Brotherhood. Actually, the explanation for Homunculi in this one, really gives each individual Homunculus a true reason and deeper background, instead of being generic-bad-ass villains like they were in Brotherhood. Besides, if you're talking about fights, the ones here are just more realistic, less bullshit.

This episode was the EPIC way that the story pushed Al into becoming the philosopher's stone. Sure, Kimblee was one dimensional, but his final act pushed Lust into betraying Dante, Scar to transmute the soldiers into Al, and inevitably what Al has to do in the last episode.
I seen the 2003 version and wanted to know the difference between brotherhood and this one, and it is like the huge difference is that the brotherhood and this one that was based on the book and the 2003 was not it's an interesting cause everyone knows that brotherhood is based on a book and was inspired to make into a show but if someone were to follow it's roots to the 2003 they would question on the quality the show has it surely left me in thought on what's going to happen next but I will let my head to theorize on what would have happened next.
