What I really like about this fight is that it seems to be the most realistic to me. Most fights IRL only take a few seconds to unfold and we usually don't get to see the true potential of everyone in fight. Also Hisoka using mind games to completely outwit Gotoh, making him think the coins were the key to Hisoka's attack, but it was just a diversion to pop down and cut his throat.
This fight still uses some of the basic principles Gon described while hunting Hisoka in the hunter exam. Hisoka waited till Gotoh was attacking, in this case his own barrage to strike. It’s amazing how many of the basic principles laid out in the beginning of the series reflect in later parts.
Yeah the characters, the writings, and it's consistencies is so good it's still relevant even after a decade, we truly never get an anime like HxH again

We actually don't know how strong Hisoka really is since he holds back for pure thrill. He seems to enjoy pain and seeing others despair when fighting at their best. Chrollo is an enigma to him for some reason, but he is considerably stronger than most of everybody. I would place him in the top 5 of currently alive people.

Man, GOtoh would've been the best bodyguard in real life. He could get in anywhere even with tough security without needing a gun or knife. Just few change.
This is one of my favorite fights cuz their power level was basically equal it just mattered on how you'd use it, strategy, brainpower, and reaction speed
It was basically the story of Hunter x Hunter. You could be a stronger nen user but you could still die to weaker nen user. That's what makes this anime unique

Downgraded Hisoka out of my top 5 for awhile after he killed Gotto 😞 It was good fight though. Gotto looks like a friend of mine too! And I really loved his hidden soft side. I think it might be the death that upset me the worst... Even before Ponzu. It truly was a death that was so disturbing... But, here no devouring, just a fight, Hisoka killing Gotto in a unnecessary fight to death was heartbreaking... Hisoka is among the best neutral characters in manga.
Ok legit question... Hisoka obviously kept bungee gum on his back as an escape tool, that being said, how did Gotoh not notice that when he used gyo to see the aura in the first place?
This little fight shows the IQ of Hisoka. Right from the start, he knew Gotoh's coins could counter his Bungee gum and had activated his aura on his feet as a backup. As expected, Gotoh's coins made the Bungee gum wrap itself onto Hisoka, putting himself in a vulnerable position, an escape from which would be possible only by deactivating his nen. And that's where the aura on his foot paid off, and came as a surprise for Gotoh. The rest was simple. Unleash the coins trapped in the gum and while Gotoh is busy countering them, slice his throat. Hisoka 🔥
Hisoka didn't know beforehand that he would need to release the bungee gum on his feet. It was a surprise for Gotoh, but it looks like Hisoka came up with that on the spot. Agreed 100%, he's a brilliant tactician and it's a blast watching him fight.
I love how Gotoh's power is literally to just throw money at the problem

I like this fight, but I feel like it would be much better if only we understood how hisoka’s ability works. It’s a shame that it’s never explained.
it has both the properties of gum and rubber. Obviously
HxH does a good job at rewarding the most intellegent fighter. For the most part.

Gotoh's power is super lame.. It's basically just the same as a machine gun..
Ok legit question... Hisoka obviously kept bungee gum on his back as an escape tool, that being said, how did Gotoh not notice that when he used gyo to see the aura in the first place?
I think the bungee gum was on his feet so when he released it it launched him up, i think he saw it but didn’t realize its purpose
Perhaps he just focused on his hands.... And not the back.... Which still doesn't make sense i know... But perhaps Hisoka still hid it somehow
Plot requires that to happen, nothing more or less.

This little fight shows the IQ of Hisoka. Right from the start, he knew Gotoh's coins could counter his Bungee gum and had activated his aura on his feet as a backup.
As expected, Gotoh's coins made the Bungee gum wrap itself onto Hisoka, putting himself in a vulnerable position, an escape from which would be possible only by deactivating his nen. And that's where the aura on his foot paid off, and came as a surprise for Gotoh.
The rest was simple. Unleash the coins trapped in the gum and while Gotoh is busy countering them, slice his throat.

Hisoka didn't know beforehand that he would need to release the bungee gum on his feet. It was a surprise for Gotoh, but it looks like Hisoka came up with that on the spot.
Agreed 100%, he's a brilliant tactician and it's a blast watching him fight.
Hisoka is lucky Gotoh left his Rinnegan at home.
