Wow! You did a fantastic job on Ms Douglas. I never knew she had a son whatever became of him?. I will certainly watch your other videos again fantastic work
Not meaning to offend you but, you pronounced realtor wrong. You said 'real-it-ter' . It's real-tor, just the way it's spelled. People do the same with nuclear. The call it, 'nucular'. Not that big a deal, we all know what you mean but, mispronouncing easy words well, doesn't help your credibility as a narrator. BTW, great biography of an actress from one of my all time favorite childhood shows. Keep up the great work.
Donna Douglas attended a Hollywood church I attended as a very young girl(in the early '60s). At Christmas Donna gave out candy and filled Christmas stockings to all the kids at the church. She always was very pleasant and spoke to the children around the church and also to many of the adults. I just thought she was wonderful!
@SkyCop Wife It was Founder's Church of Religious Science. Donna and I were good friends in the mid-70s and we'd sit together in the balcony during the services so that she wouldn't be so easily recognized. She and my parents and I would often go to lunch after the Sunday services. I miss her so much. She was such a beautiful, kind, and loving soul. Last time I saw her was during the summer of 1979 when we were travelling through Louisiana and we noticed that Donna was playing in a country band at one of the local joints. She was so surprised to see us that she almost stopped singing on the spot. LOL Good times.
@@ccbarr58 Donna Douglas was probably just exploring a church when she attended the same church as I did for several months Fall and Winter in the early 1960s. Self Realization Fellowship Church on Fountain Ave. near Normandy in Hollywood. I did not like that church as a kid but my Mom and Aunt dragged me each Sunday for a few years to Sunday services. I do not follow that church and have not.
I have a very dear family friend who said Donna Douglas was his Sunday School teacher in California. He said she was just really incredibly nice to everybody and she really loved the Lord.
i live about 20 miles from the Church Cemetery where Donna is buried, and i did visit her grave last year, she was really a down home country girl whom really met her calling in life and she served it right, Rest In Peace Elly Mae Clampett
In the 1960's there were 3 networks that had 3 primetime beauties. ABC had Elizabeth Montgomery, NBC had Barbara Eden and CBS had the lovely Donna Douglas
I used to love the Beverly HIllbillies, one of my all-time favourites, good clean humour with a lesson in it. Donna Douglas as Ellie May was lovely, and a great actress.
I was a young boy in early ‘60’s when BH burst onto the scene. We lived near Beaumont, Texas and she and Michael Landon flew in for some benefit. My mother took us to the small regional airport that day and there were probably a 1000 fans. My mom got us up close and as Donna & “Little Joe” walked from plane & came right by us. I was in awe. Even as young boy I had a crush on her. Loved the historical video!
I live in Port Arthur currently but at that time I lived in north Houston. I remember watching BH every day it came on and still watch the reruns. Such great memories. We went to the Astro Dome to see everyone from Bonanza and of course Lil Joe was there…they all were. I think it was at the same time as the Livestock Show and Rodeo that year. Lots of fun.
My mom n i had the pleasure if meeting her at an animal show she hosted Sea World Orlando. After the show everyone left and she sat on stage, pulled my mom up a chair and they talked for about 30 min. She signed my autograph card, took a pic w my mom. She was an amazing christian lady and we actually had prayer with her before we left. We loved her!!
Elly May was a sweetheart and unique , as were all her co-stars on Beverly Hillbillies . My family and I watched many great episodes and nobody could have played her part as well as she did !
So surprised to hear that she passed, I missed the news somehow. I imagine her tending the Rainbow Bridge with all the critters. What a Sweetheart! RIP.
Met her over 20 years ago at the Mesa Ariz. Hilton. She was at a meet and greet function for special needs children put on by Ben Johson. I walk up to her table and asked if she wouldn't mind fulfilling a young boys fantasy. "And what would that be?" she asked. A kiss from you! Got one, right on the lips! Wonderful lady!
That was quite a life she lived. I watch Beverly hillbillies reruns and she always catches my eye in every scene she's in. She was a beautiful woman. She was Ellie Mae Clampett. Nobody else could have played that part. RIP Doris 😔
I got to meet Donna back in 1977 at a Savings and Loan Company in California. They had 3 TV actors helping promote new accounts and i was excited to talk to her about the old Beverly Hillbillies series. She was so friendly and so down to earth a real lady of the south.RIP Donna.
Yes the Beverly hillbillies show was our life , the shows today can’t hold my interest,,one of the best shows in my growing up years , I still watch the reruns ,!!
I hadn't really thought until today, how many "Beverly Hillbillies" stars were also "Twilight Zone" alumni. Buddy Ebsen, Donna Douglas, Raymond Bailey, Nancy Kulp and Wally Cox were all in both series. There may have been more but that's just off the top of my head!
I had no idea that Donna had done so many shows prior to The Beverly Hillbillies. For some reason I always had the impression that was one of her first roles.
What great television shows we had growing up. Definitely one of my childhood crushes with the likes of Dawn Wells, Barbara Eden and Elizabeth Montgomery. Glad your back!!!
I went to a fund raiser for a small town in Tennessee about 14 years ago. I met Donna who was there to sign some of her books and give autographs for her fans. She was there for 2 full days and the lines to see her were really long. Before she left she and a lady friend/helper of hers came to my motor home so Donna could get in some air conditioning & relax a little while before leaving. She was so down to earth & friendly. I couldn't help but notice how amazing her skin was at her age! Her complexion was beautiful! I was so impressed by her story telling, charm and openness. She really was a beautiful soul.
@SkyCop Wife She had a definite gift from God. She was not flamboyant but spoke some specific things to my friend that was a tremendous blessing in her life. That was several decades ago and my friend still remembers the words.
I think they already understood that the character names where just that, character names. Try to grow a funny bone and don't take our little lives to seriously.
In 1971 she was the celebrity guest for an auto show in Pittsburgh and myself and several friends meet her and talked with her and she was very personable and sincerely friendly. Obviously we all loved her and the Beverly Hillbillies as that show was very funny and creative.
I could tell at my young age, watching BH, that Donna's love for 'critter's' was genuine, it's impossible to fake.... only now I've discovered... she started that role at the age of 30... what a legendary girl... and kept her "down home" personality too... makes BH even more memorable..thank you Donna...R.I.P. ♥️♥️

Thank You :)
I didn’t realize that was her on the, Twilight Zone, which so happens to be another favorite! I still watch ALL the classics on, Prime Video.
I really like Donna Douglas she is pretty and funny and did a great job of playing Elle may and she also starred with Elvis presley in Frankie and Johnny pretty good movie
Loved that show Beverly Hill Billies. My respect for Donna is even higher now as she didn’t go for the seedy side of Hollywood.
Beautiful, beautiful lady.
She was so beautiful
I really look forward to your videos. Thanks!
