Some of my favorite drawing exercises when I don’t feel like drawing anything specific, now you do it! You best have a great weekend too- I know I will I’ll be in Diablo 4 muhuhuHaHaHaHa 🤭
Bro, it's surreal how the time flies, we are almost done with the first 1/4 of the 1-Year Plan to Draw! My drawing has improved a lot. Thank you very much, Mark!
A good exercise that helps improve my skills is drawing from life. All the exercises conveyed in this video can also be fulfilled in drawing complex construction vehicles and their piping and engines, bunched clothes, jackets, silks, ribbons, bags, and the like at home, electrical works in machines around your city, complex water lines, trees, grass, houses, buildings, a crazy desk with stuff all over it, military gear, technological stuff, vehicles, and so much more. It's how Kim Jung Gi and many others got good. They just kept drawing, drawing not only from imagination, but by drawing from life, storing a massive photographic archive in their minds. And after accumulating vast stores of imagery from real life works, they used them as "mind references" to draw from imagination.
thankyou for this, i didn't think of it that way and I think I need to store more in my visual library to be able to make drawings from imagination. Need to do more studies maybe thousands to be as good as them :)
Symmetrical drawing part is so underated, im really good at drawing anatomy and organic forms but struggle the second I try too draw a complex steel helmet.
Really appreciate this, Marc! I'm by no means a pro, but I'm proud to say I'm not a beginner either, so I'm super happy for something a little more advanced! I'd love to see some more advanced tips in the future
@Noob at Redstone I understand the fundamentals I've been doing gesture/figure drawing for a year now and even uploaded them on RUclips for tips. But it seems I can't go beyond what I'm doing right now. I tried drawing in 3d cubes and visualize it as that but it didn't help since I went back to draw with circles instead of cubes. I can't see 3d when it matters . I don't memorize anatomy and poses despite drawing them everyday even studying etc. I'm really stuck
@@sael5084 by the sounds of things I think it’s time to just draw the fun things you want to draw! Practice is great but please give yourself some time to be creative! Whilst I’m proud of the illustration I did for the profile picture I have, it’s not original but I was able to capture the character in that pose and also colour it in the way I wanted to colour it. Recently I have been using references to create things that are finally unique to me that are inspired by other art. Is it my best work, no. Am I enjoying it, yes. And the main reason I have been enjoying it is because I am constantly reminded of how much I can still improve and how much there is still to learn! I also continue to struggle with proportions, anatomy and all of that. And I have been dabbling in drawing/illustration for 8 years. So chin up bud, let others around you compliment you on your work and there is nothing wrong with struggling.
@@sael5084 I just watched your recent upload and I can say without a doubt that your gesture drawing is far superior than my own Maybe try these things: Draw lightly with a coloured pencil to lay down the initial sketch and then go over it with a pencil or pen to bring out a more finalised piece Definitely draw your figures bigger! You will capture so much more detail when they are bigger! And take one of those gestures you drew and have some fun with it Draw the whole thing on an a4 piece of paper, figure out where the basic shapes lie for the shadows and render it a lot more than just the sketches you have been doing But either way, I think you are doing great! Keep up the good work and have fun with it!
A beginner like me learns art from you sir is like an honor.. I learned many things for free from you. Thank you so much for doing this for us who don't have the chance to go to art school due to financial problem. I downloaded some of your videos sir so I can listen and watch it over again to help me improved my skill. More blessing to you and your staff sir😁🤗
Lately I've found myself feeling more and more demotivated in doing art and I'm pretty overwhelmed with alot of things. Seeing and watching you videos reminds me of the times I would download a million of your videos and study and practice drawing all day and it was really fun. Trying to get back to art again rn and it gives me some comfort seeing my drawings as it always did
Thank you. This channel has helped me so much. I have a question for perhaps a upcoming video, and that is painting patterns on flowing fabric. Like if you make that checkered pattern on like a folded dress perhaps. I always end up fking it up haha. Much love ❤
Omg this is a really great. I am not a beginner artist I know my basics and stuff. But i wanna be better. But the problem in all the RUclips videos for artists are like "Tutorials for Begginers" I am soo glad I found this. Gonna do the box perspective thing the most. Because I have a hard time at grasping some environment perspective like a building or so.
Love your videos Marc, whenever things are slow at work I do your beginners exercises. These more advance exercises will be a great edition to my routine!
Really good tutorials and excresises! I started drawing again and your excresises improve my drawing alot. I know little about drawing and art cus i had studied them and from my experience your tutorials and excresises are really valuable!
Yeahh, some more fun lil exercises to do whenever! Always love these 🥰 (Ooof, I really had to consciously not look at your eyes to not get distracted by the programmed movement they make 😳 I much prefer them naturally 🤭😅)
ah yes! i don't have to do them traditional boxes, houses and pyramids when bored, they could be scifi chests, or even regular chests! some ribbons too! and maybe draw a symmetric thing, then put it on a plane in perspective, then ribbonise it into a flag :O In short, thanks for the video
The time spent for editing is greatly appreciated. So many eye twitches due to reading I'm going to assume. Edit: BTW you're awesome, I've been paying a thumbs up and a sub for your content for awhile. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
i thinks its the AI program/filter that point your eyes towards the camera all the time, even tho you are reading something offscreen. You can see it glitch out when he blinks.
Hey Marc. Heres the thing. My dream and goal in art is make my own cartoon/manga. So Im asking that should I buy your art school? Hope you answer to this, it might get you some money 😂. And I Love your videos and art. Could watch and listen your videos all day.

Hi Marc, I dunno if you reading every comment. But I would like to know if you can teach us how to find the perspective of a photo reference or drawing of a character? I find it hard to do the copy exercises for the Year learning
Can someone tell me how to download the free brush set , I have tried multiple times at the website but for some reason it doesn't moves forward after I sign in
