Pretty rough study mashup of the GTA render style with more stylized characters (Loid/Yor) from Spy Family. That was challenging.

This week’s class is way off the regular schedule, that’s rare! I’ve been working nonstop so that’s my excuse! Didn’t want to rush the painting too much
Two things I'd like to add off the top of my mind. Watched a cigar making video a while back in one of my "it's 3 AM, can't sleep" moments and if memory serves, the dude explained that the most important tool for getting skilled was a "sample" cigar to look at and gauge your progress and finished work based upon. The other thing I can add is that far as I know, "discomfort and confusion" are *the* feelings that indicate the brain is in "learning mode" and they need to be sought-out within reason. If you don't feel those things, your brain isn't learning a whole lot or at all. PS: Holy, that artwork turned-out amazing!
Good point ☝️
Uhhh I love that! Thank you for sharing ❣️
@@cequ happy to be of use!
My brain hurts a fuckton at school and yet I know nothing😭
@@mrpickles-hb6zx Yeah, that's where the "within reason" bit comes-in. I suggest the approach of trying to "get the main idea" instead of focusing on remembering any detail of what is being said. Also, a solid strat I used was reading the textbook(s) beforehand. Again, just get the most basic idea. "What is this whole subject about". That's enough for your brain to create structures and 'hook' information to them during lessons. This also eases the load and makes homework trivial in comparison, them's cheat codes right there. Try it! Also, if something's curious to you, you can look it up and learn a bit while it's still interesting and you should drop it once it gets boring. These are good ways to manage cognitive load.
The GTA thumbnail man... the power it holds is unfathomable
Some guy:
“What kind of prompts did you use?”
[Five star wanted level engaged]
I like this "Realistic" anime style, Marc!
Your tips are also valid. We can't learn if we never leave our comfort zone. "We either Succeed, or we Learn", and "The Master has failed more times than the apprentice." But the biggest Failure is if we get a burnout because we take on too much at once.
The secret is balance.
I'm gonna draw you apologizing to that skeleton on your knees crying begging throwing up. You have only yourself to blame.
😂
Lol
No, Skelly, how could you say that to him!
Yo these intros have me rolling everytime, I love them so much also I hope Sir Skeleton the 3rd can improve in another 10 years perhaps.
I needed this class so badly, I feel like I've gone down in skill so will definitely be burning this class into my brain, thanks Marc!
Each new video's intro is funnier and more creative than the last lol 😂
Totally agreed lol@@tlotxofficial
I really needed to hear "Embrace discomfort" that's truly gonna help me on this journey. I am doing your one year drawing schedule and I am almost done with month 1! figured I'd get a head start on the new year.
I can't believe I've never actually focused on how skilled you are, It sounds stupid obviously, I know. But I always focus more on what you're trying to convey instead of what you're putting on the canvas haha, but I focused on the digital painting today and the whole thing is so impressive how you managed to get the gta vibe in this. And copying styles sounds like an awesome idea. I'd love to see what you end up learning and hence teaching people by it.
Direct feedback has been greatly beneficial ever since I became a student in your ARTSchool. Every time I ask for feedback, someone is always there to guide me, and it is both humbling me and positively impacting my art as a whole.
Thanks for class today! I've got a bunch of ribbon drawings to practice now.
Yes its so true about complex subjects and going outside our comfort zone. I find that I'm successful tackling these challenges when I warm up doing something I'm already good at, that way I can gain momentum. I took your advice Marc, by drawing in mini sessions and its works. I work at it piece by piece, like drawing a certain body part/pose building it block by block. If I'm satisfied I take a break and come back it. If I run into a wall, I'll do a study on what is causing the issue (eg. drawing different hand poses). If you try to do everything at once, you force it and it does not come out right. I find this has been successful for me. These 5-10min mini sessions are great advice, thank you!
I have a few artists in mind that i would be curious to see you coping their artstyle: Kim Jung Gi, Ruan Jia, Zeen Chin, also some clasicist like Michelangelo, or Adolphe William Bouguereau
RIP Kim ❤
omfg the results are incredible, love all the coloursss, this looks so good!!! I wanna now try to draw it myself
Great video as always Marc! I like the idea of the spin-off series. I think your experience in your approach to learning would help artists who may like a certain other artists style but not really know what they like about it, idk lol. It sounds super cool and fun. I personally am a big fan of Yoji Shinkawa (MGS/Kojima projects) and Akihiko Yoshida (Square Enix).
Thanks for the video, your content is so helpful! I was thinking the other day how great it would be for you to do a RossDraws style portrait
the intro skits before lessons are always my favorite part before the knowledge dumps - another great video
Another great video. Thank you as always. God bless! ❤
Artist style studies series sounds like a very fun and even more useful thing!!!
i loved the drawing of Loid and Yor you drew! it looks great, I love them so much!!!
Was thinking the video might come out this coming weekend instead of today. Thanks.
i love the spinoff series idea! i would greatly enjoy that!!!
I remember you making a post about a potential art style breakdown series like a year or two ago, glad that you're still considering it. I'd like to see Akihiko yoshida (obviously), as well as george kamitani and/or Yoh yoshinari as they both have a unique appeal in their drawings. looking forward to it
Oh wow, this is actually kinda helpful sinces I'm already drawing something hard, thanks Mr Marc, this is why we should never give up about hard and challenging drawing the more you draw the same art the more better it will become than last time!!
amazing fan art
Love your videos, you've been a tremendous help on my slow journey! Hyped for GTA 6 and your pic came out dope.
Artist who's style you could do is maybe Diberkato. It's kind of similar to the GTA one in some ways perhaps, but very vibrant colours and nice lines (imho). Cheers!
I do have to agree with the hole approach but i think the only problem i have is a good feedback that can help me improve. So i keep drawing it over and over again until i get it engraved in my mind. But otherwise i learn a lot from the lesson.
Hi Marc! As always really cool video! Talking about studying other artist i really would like to see you study wlop's art, thanks again!
Hi Marc! Great vid as always! 🔥 Maybe you can trying Ruan Jia's style for a future vid, I bet the result will be amazing 🔥🔥🔥
I am in love with your intros! They just keep getting better every time
can you make a study video of REIQ art style, really love that one ❤
I literally needed this at this second- what is this witchery?
The shading method is really good
Love your insight. Always know ill learn something. ❤❤❤
Omg, Marc Brunet getting inspired by Mika Pikazo would make my heart explode :>
Idk what to expect here but that makes it so interesting :0
Mika Pikazo could be a real challenge for you, especially with the different style in color choices
Other than that I think this could work super well because you both are technically pretty advanced
Finally getting your course for Christmas, been saving up this whole year for it QwQ
In November 2023 I even got lucky enough to get a scholarship and earned the ~400€ within one Month 😭
I'll get 300€/month for the whole next year to invest in my art career
That enables me to stop working, focus on my studies and have more time to practice art 😍
Super duper exited for your course!!
7:10 Here some good ones:
1 Bo chen
2 Terence Cantal
3 Chengwei Pan
4 Gabriel Blain
5 Hicham Habchi
6 Su Ke
Or any game/movie companies with studios that need employees
Tysm
Thanks, Mark!
I really suck at perspective but a friend of mine said that between the sketches I did the one with the plongee angle was the more interesting, after some time sketching only when I asked some friends what they thought about the drawing that I started realizing what could have been improved, watching this video and the said experience made me realize that have some criticize your work helps alot, and that's kinda suck because if you dont have friends that do art as well or you dont have that many followers you end up not getting alot of feedback.
I feel like it's time to go after some art discord or something like that.
Thank you…i needed this
I'd love to see you try the Stuart Immonen Superman Secret Identity art style.
Thank you for the video!! And if you decide to try other artist's styles I'd love to see you try the artist of the manga/anime Tbhk!!
AidaIro's illustrations are very beautiful and love to see you debunk the style and try it out :)
Please try Ramón Nuñez art style I want to know what you also learn from Ramons art. Both you and Ramón, are the ones I keep going back to and learn from.
Nice video bro, thanks 👍
Feel in love with this channel 2 years ago, from the LBP (Little Big Planet) channel intro ❤
Thank you for the video ❤. You gotta try Kan Liu's art style!
You should try to copy Rinotuna. I also ended up watching the video twice cuz I was distracted with the art process. Love the results.
I used to be really engaged with the Art School Discord, but I felt like it took ages for any feedback to come in from any other students (if they even gave feedback at all).
You paid for Marc Brunet Art School?
Great video as always! Would love to see you try Tatsuki Fujimoto art style
Awesome drawing!🎉
I’m practicing right now! Hopefully I’m doing it right ^-^
no u dont
Gracias.
Waited more than a week to get another masterpiece🔥🔥🔥
My favorite artists, both character designers / concept artists.
Sungmooheo & Zeenchin
Actually, VERY GOOD apliccation of the Veritasium's video of what it takes to become an expert
My main form of art is music, I mostly play bass but play guitar on occasion. One thing I’ve gained from making and playing songs is to work on familiar stuff while getting yourself into a particular flow before going into something new. Never go into something challenging head first. Have a few warm up sketches working on things you are already comfortable with. Eventually you will add the previously uncomfortable things into your warm up. I do this music and drawings as well. I always have a few warm up songs as well as a place to screw around with drawings before I take things seriously. It works wonders and you’ll really see your progress after a while.
Gogalking and Ethan Becker has really cool styles, great video btw!
Yor advice seems really sound. Also: Yor attempt at style replication is really nice to the eye
wow nice art!
if i were u id aplogize to skelebro
As of now I am a lvl 3.5-4 in drawing I still need reference but the progress is great thank you ❤
I'm interested in that series you mentioned
You should try Lee Bermejo Art style!
i want your amazing lineart brush!!
Love the thumbnail! ❤
Hi Marc. Maybe try Niwarythym's artstyle? That's the artist that initially got me into wanting to do digitally art with their unique POV and action-ey type of drawings.
Do a copy/study of WLOP!
If you're looking for an artist to copy, try Dan Luvisi! I've always been a fan of his hyper-realistic renderings, and it would be interesting to see how you'd tackle the style!
that art is hella good
I wonder what brush you use as smudge tool for blending😮 it's look so perfect
What do I do if I don't know who to turn to for feedback? I'm also super shy when it comes to meeting and talking to new people.
Redditers are super friendly and helpful
This painting is so peak omfg 😭
i swear as soon as i get a disposable income im immediately getting that art course, i've been eyeing it for a while
sameeeeeeee, Im saving for it
I would love to see you try and study from/copy Ruan Jia's and INPLICK's artstyle, I love them so much!
oh apparently you were faster in suggesting this idea lol
That skeleton needs to get revenge on you fr, also wonderful art as always!
These are things that I used to improve on the guitar for 3 years and I didn't even notice... I need to make this click on my drawing study🏴☠️
I would love if you went through the process of copying some game styles. A lot of mobile games especially have gorgeous art worked on as part of a group that goes directly to the player base. I would be curious as to the thought process required to emulate and produce art in that manner.
Great video ❤
I had downloaded the GTA 6 cover pic for practice and while I was confused how it's done MB showed up with his new video. I'm telling you he knows what we're thinking rn
I'd like to see you do art in Akihiko Yoshida, Tetsuya Nomura, and Mika Pikazo's art styles
I think that would be a great idea, you don't even have serialise it as content for us because you'd be challenging (we love to see the results obvs) yourself to try something uncomfortable. A leader leads, right. Also, I'd like to see you attempt some of Yoji Shinkawa art. Have a fab weekend!
7:05 Copy the jojo's artstyle VERY out of your comfort zone when u try it
Very unexppected but welcomed video!
I would love to see you try the style of hyung tae kim , rinotuna or Eichiro oda! Haha
OmarDogan, i would love to see you replicate his style! Yoji Shinkawa is another. I’d say Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia mangaka) is the final one I’d be interested in you attempting!
Something I have an issue with is whenever I do attempt to self educate by watching lots of art videos, is I start to apply the challenge down onto paper and then my body and mind almost immediately gets drowsy and tired steering me away from actually trying to. Almost as if something lurks over my shoulder.
I'd be interested in seeing you copy Yoshitaka Amano's style hea does concept art for final fantasy. He's a hero and got me inspired to pick up art
Bros artstyles changing neat🤩
Hey Marc, where can I find that "half-stretched rectangular" brush that you use in most of the video?
Great video as always Marc!!
My target art style might be some of the riot games character splash art, it would be the best if you can make a video based on those art styles
bro great video as always but can we talk about that thumbnail art!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚒🚒🚒
The thumbnail is real cool
The intro was hilarious. Nice.
💀🎅🎨
If you do try a series where you try to copy another artist's style, I'd like to see you attempt Xa Gueuzav's. Their style feels like a fun mixture of cartoon/anime.
I am in a bit of a slump right now. I am always practicing or doing sketches, its been years since i have actually made a finished artwork.
I have so many ideas that i want to drae but when i get to actually doing the finished work i just chicken out and practice lines or something. The worst part is that it doesnt feel like i am even getting better.
I'd love to see you copy Gammatrap's style, and great video as always!
6:40 A suggestion if you decide to start that series is the Japanese artist called Rolua.
Yooo this GTA 6 spy x family combination is fire
There’s a small artist I follow called Rodrigorizo. Would love to see you emulate his style, it’s unique and very pretty
7:10 Apterus/Peter Polach.
