"live in fame or go down in flame" some words to live by actually.
My father Ed Appelson, may he rest in peace, was a long-time member of the VM. Loved going to rehearsal and hearing them sing this and others. My dad had a high baritone/low tenor voice that would always stand out. I could pick out his voice when they'd sing the Star Spangl'd Banner. Miss you Dadnor.
Nice that you have that memory. ❤️
I was a Royal Netherlands marine for almost 4 years. i also spend 6 month with the U.S navy. The Royal Netherlands marine core was established in 1665. makes it one of the oldest in the world . The Royal Netherlands navy is 527 years old asst. in 1490 just a bit of useless info for you guys :)
Christopher I love the Netherlands, from the USA :)
If I was American this would make me feel good and very proud..... it's bloody brilliant!!, GREAT TUNES!
I served in both the Air Force and Army from 1971 to 1987.
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Thank you for your service!
Amazing! Thank you.
Thank you very much for your great service!
George Murray thank you very much for your service in both branches.
I'm a proud Navy Vet. Thank you for posting this for all the armed services.
I always get the greatest patriot feeling when I hear soldiers sing their respective armed forces tune. It hits home more than when hip hop artist always feel the need to do that over the top tweaking with the national anthem. Sometimes, it's just best to sing it how it is and leave it at that.
AMEN!
Never tire of listening to this particular arrangement by VM. Flawless.
I'm always proud when they play the armed forces medley (and when they ask for you to stand for your branch) and I can stand for every branch.
Listening to each song that represents each branch of our armed forces just makes me more proud to be an american.. God bless all who have served and to all that are currently serving without you guys we all wouldn't have this freedom that each one of these songs are song for. Thank you.
THIS IS WONDERFUL. THERE WOULD BE NO NATION WITHOUT OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ARMED FORCES. PROUDLY SERVED JULY 66 TO JULY 70.
Amen
***** MR. CAPS LOCKS IS LEGALLY BLIND. I DO THE BEST I CAN. SORRY IF THIS OFEND YOU.
P.o.p. Hold it down
JERRY A HOOSIER so you have issues with numbers as well
GET OFF MY BACK, I NEVER SAID I WAS PERFECT.
The best version and sound on the net, great harmony. I had the honor of serving in 2 branches, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
Terrific & inspiring version (medley) of the official songs of the United States of America armed forces~! Any patriotic American would enjoy hearing this medley & giving thanks to God & our defenders of this great country~~the greatest country on planet Earth~! Having seen "The Vocal Majority" in person on several occasions I can attest to just how good this talented group of men are & the good work they continue to do, especially their leader: Jim Clancey. Keep it up men~!
I’m personally not an advocate for war or fighting, but I have nothing but respect for those who serve their country and nothing but appreciation this astonishing piece of music. I could feel that incredible sense of pride pouring out of this performance. Wow!
Always glad to hear the Coast Guard anthem! My father was aboard LST 794 in the Pacific Campaign His ship joined the fleet in the Marianus and Solomon islands, were in the invasion of the Philippines, Saipan, and earned their battle star at Okinawa. After he surrender they did China duty-bringing Koreans back to Korea and Japanese prisoners back to Japan. My father was always afraid that the people would forget the great combat history of the United States Coast Guard, we will not,
I can say as a Soldier that has served almost 20 years....this seriously gave me chills!!!! Thank you for posting this.... HOOAH!!!!!
this video fills my heart with so much joy and my eyes with tears of happiness. thank you to all the brave men and women who have served and are currently serving this country. i can't truly express how much your service means to me and many other citizens of this beautiful country that we call home. from the bottom of my heart, thank you. may god stand by your side
Back in the 50's, we learned all the military songs in grade school. I can still remember them more than 50 yrs later. :)
Thankk you brave american soldiers and people of America for keeping our world in peace!
No matter what your political persuasion, that is a great sound for America
You should feel this when it's in person. The recording doesn't do it justice...I saw them at a 4th of July concert. Now THAT got everyone to there feet. They ask us stand as they got to the service we had been in or a member of our family had been in. As a fourth generation vet, I was standing most of the time!
There is nobody on planet Earth who can match American mass vocal performance. Awesome discipline - and the music isn't half bad either. From an ecstatic muso way down in lil' ol' NZ.
I love this! I served in the Air Force, Army and Navy, thank you for such a pulse pounding and patriotic rendition of these songs.
Thank you
Having lived through WWll this has special memories for me and I thank you for putting it here for all to enjoy. God bless all the men in uniform represented by these tunes.
This Retired Army Vet salutes you!! Hooah!
My highschool choir sang a medley similar to this at veteran's home in New Jersey on our New York music trip. I saw a bunch of them singing along and even starting to cry. One of the greatest things I've ever done. I still know those songs.
We did this in my chior class. Did it for 9/11 and for the veterans hospital. It was soo awesome to see the veterans join in when we sung their branch's tune. They got so excited when they heard it. :) It was the least we could do for laying their life on the lines for us. Thank you to all who have served and are still serving!!!!
Thank you so much for directing us to this wonderful performance, so appropriate for Veterans Day, 2021!! Hearing all the Armed Forces songs always brings a shiver of joy and appreciation for those who have protected us all!
I love performing thIs. Being in the VM is so fun. I can honestly say it's life changing
Awesome. Haven't seen such a beautiful support of our troops like this in many a moon.
JAR
Thank you very much for posting this.........Also, thank you all that are serving now and to those that have served!!
Sure, they messed up some lyrics...but this is still the best military choral arrangement I've ever heard! I have chills all over
Very nice! It takes all branches to make a strong tree. We honor our veterans and current servicemenbers in all branches! Thank you so much for the jobs you have done and are doing! May God continue to bless America. This choir did a beautiful job!
When I was in grade school we learned every single one of these songs in music class. How many know them now? And will we hear these songs echo throughout the land on July 4th? Without our armed forces America would not be!
I never learned them but since I am going to enlist (as a sailor) I memorized every hymn.
+Sam Shin Wishing you fair winds and following seas! Man the rail--quarters for entering port!
enterprisebaby thank you!
enterprisebaby with the sensitivity now? Not very likely. People already tried to redo the NATIONAL ANTHEM because they said it was violent. That was a real stunning moment for me. So ridiculous. If they did that to the anthem, great chance they might do something to these tunes.
"We will fight our country's battle? Did we give the government consent? If not, have we been enslaved??? This is not what America's about!"
or something stupid like that.
So beautiful....
This reminds me of the very special place that our brave men and women in uniform, past and present, have in my heart. You represent America's best. *Thank you for your service!*
The Vocal Majority are the greatest! Barbershop Chorus Champions many times. Led by Jim Clancy they are based out of Dallas, Texas.
my great grandpa was in the us army in ww2 so im gona fallow his footsteps
I think this is the first video I've seen with over 10 views that didn't have at least 1 dislike. Awesome video!
So apparently the Army changed the lyrics in 1956 and I've been singing/listening to the old version (those caissons keep rolling along) all this time. I never heard the modern one until this video.
As of 1 OCT 2010 it will be known as THE DEPARTMENT OF THE MARINES- NAVY DIVISION. Thier song will change from" Anchors Aweigh " to "IN THE NAVY' by the VILLIAGE PEOPLE.
OOHRAH
Thanks for this. Thank you all past and present members of our American Forces, heroes all.
May our armed forces forever eternal stay adamant to protect our beautiful homeland of America!!
I salute all the Armed Forces where would we be if it wasn't for them protecting our freedom in the good old US of A I would like to thank all the arm forcesthank you for fighting for our freedom please be safe and come home in one piece thank you Wanda you're doing a wonderful job keep up the good work

Best two branches first lol. Thanks to all branches and the men and women whom serve in them. I will be earning the title of sailor in the near future
My Dad was in the US Air Corps in WWII, two of my uncles were in the US Navy, and another uncle was in the Merchant Marine. All came home safely after fighting for our country.
ANCHORS AWEIGH IS MY FAVORITE TUNE .PROUDLY SERVED FROM 1973 -77 .
Grandfather and many other people from generations before served in the Marines and Army.
That was awesome! Im singing this song in my middle school choir :)
YES SIRS AND MADAM, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SERVICES AND SACRIFICES , THEN AND NOW.....................
Each part has the most perfect range of voice. Absolute perfection-the best choir I've heard.
This is so Beautifully done ...Amazing !!!!
God bless our troops!

GOD WILL PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!! WITH THE NATION/NATIONS HE GOD FAVORED.....AMERICA AND ISRAEL......................................................
They are GREAT!
i served in the MARINES and proud of it
We're doing this piece in my choir class! Different arrangement but still an amazing performance!
still to this day, I can't decide which one is my favorite. So to make it simple, I've decided that they are all my favorite!!!
Beautiful choir!!! Love it, and appropriate for the day I'm commenting!
+Katy Charles Same!
Wonderful performance!
***** I hope you enjoyed your time in Korea!
Awesome!!!! It's wonderful. GO AIRFORCE!
Something to be really proud of: unbelievably together and powerful.
My dad was in the Army for 20 years ❤️ my soldier
They saved the best for the last!! US AIR FORCE!!
Dad grandpa and uncle in Air Force. Uncle in army and marines. Uncle in navy. Grandpa in coast guard
Ep 66 my dad did coast guard, mom did army reserve, sister did a short stint in Air Force and both my dad’s parents were army, husband was navy and his grandpa we think was army?
This choir is great
Got the chills
And rightfully so. This old soldier is well aware that a lot of Marines and soldiers owe their lives to the courage under fire of USCG coxswains at the helms of landing craft during WWII. I also understand that some of the river patrol boats in 'Nam had USCG coxswains. In peacetime, their courage in saving lives at sea is unsurpassed.
I love this! And I'm proud to serve in the United States Air Force Auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol, and I will be Enlisting in the US Air Force by the end of this year
As always, Phenomenal!!!!
A brilliant performance by them as usual! They will never disappoint you! Simply the best!
that was awesome.never heard it done a capella before and LOVE it!
Just like how I replied to the other comment. I was just riled up because I love the armed forces no matter which branch. I didn't mean to sound harsh.
It's great to hear this as a vocal piece! I though it was equally beautiful and patriotic when we played it using only instruments
He has, just believe in him!
too epic
Thank you to all of our Armed Forces!
SamTR, I don't think they ever intended to disgrace any branch, so calm down. This is a great version, and all service branches deserve more respect than they can ever know from a civilian, who regrets not serving. Could I, "YES!," Should I, "YES!" Why didn't I because I chose a career over service. Good for you going in. I don't like that you disrespect them for trying to pay respect to your service through their career choice. Even if it wasn't perfect...
Man I love VM! I wanna be in it one day
I love this! It is so well done. I've shared it on Facebook many times.
@Carthrage In 2010 I attended a mini show in Reading MA featuring the singing Mass State Trooper where he did the armed forces medley and featured the Merchant Marine song !!!!! First time I've ever heard anyone sing it in connection with an Armed Forces Medley. I went to Kings Point and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is the only Federal academy authorized to carry the Battle Standard Flag, by virtue of her 142 Cadets killed in action in WWII.
Very well done! Go Air Force!! :)
perfect choreography for a choir of that size
"Go up in fame or down in flame", U.S. Air Force all the way.
A wonderful performance...but, as for me and many in my generation, it will always be "The Caissons go rolling along...." :)
www.music.army.mil/music/armysong/ (things change - it happens)
What an accomplished group. I love listening to them. And watching them is fun!
The best Armed Forces Medley!
Gerald Kirkpatrick Vite Nam Aug. 1968 to May 1969 tour duty. Service time Jan. 9, 1967 to Jan. 1970.
Beautiful
ADMIRACIÓN POR EL PATRIOTISMO DE LA GRAN NACIÓN DEL NORTE!
i love this song
One thing I am always proud of,
I was called an USAF AIRMAN...PEACE.
+Joseph Davis Nothing can stop the US Air Force!
Fantastic & Inspiring!
From Britain, that was f**king brilliant!! I wish we did that kinda thing :P
what a nice mix. although I wish they would have done the first verse of anchors away.
Also, they said Title of United States Marines. Supposed to be singular, not plural. But this is a well performed rendition...a capella!
