Your stories of when you were young reminds me of when I was a kid. I was into D&D way before it was cool, the "books" was just cardboard pamplets. I lived in a small town, about 5k population and I was the only person into it, I caught a lot of hell for it...from kids and adults alike lol. I wish I had all the stuff available to people nowadays...hell even just the internet would have been amazing. Anyway, i think you was to hard on yourself the original paint job looked great to me!
"What other company gets away with selling models by the bag" Wait until you get into historical wargaming haha. Ordering models with no picture off a website made in the 90s and they all come in bags with some weird code scrawled on it. Working out what is what is half the fun though.
I always love your bases, Jay. But the subtle colours of these two (and, I guess, your whole Necron army), is art. Also, your grey base rims look great. I thought I was a rebel painting mine dark purple, but you took it all the way.
Honestly, that old paint scheme on the Tombstalker is really not that bad. The blue light glow on white is really a nice effect! Anyway appreciate the resin model recovery tutorial not enough on YT.
@@abrannan totally, weathering powder and chipping solution would do it wonders, but honestly a base with a more contrasting color palette would make it pop, wouldn't even need to change the snow theme. I really like the Necron range but for all the grim dark terminator schemes, the models really pop with a lighter palette and pastels
I love watching painting vids, but when it comes to old models, I like keeping mine. I wanna look back at them and see how dar I’ve come. Ya know, to mark my progress
The tomb stalker was my first FW model too, picked one up after about a month of being in the hobby 😬 So good, though I remember the only game I played with it, it did nothing except provide a distraction! Awesome to see these guys on the channel, and your paint job is beautiful as always!!
man... I know that feel now [ 8:00 ] just started repainting some first-borne I have had since middle-school, and some really old Terminators from Space Hulk, the anxiety of making a mistake was real lol. Going to make my own custom chapter instead of going with Templars or Ultramarines like I used to.
Those are some nice models, with a fantastic paint job to match! I never got any FW stuff, almost bought the Tau Barracuda back in the day but I spent the money getting more Nids instead, bulking out a hormagaunt squad to 32 models...seemed a better investment 😆 You also make putting decals on so easy...
I think this is the first time I EVER saw these things in any 40k video on this website. Did a great job with the fixing though! Now to actually see if anyone will ever use them in a BatRep.
Somehow had missed this video. Nice job! I still lament that you abandoned blue for orange because Bluecrons are Bestcrons, but nevertheless the result looks great. Also, i need that Kermit model.
I was really really sceptical of the paint theme you chose through the first half of the video. But they turned out incredible! Really well done and goes so well with the base.
Your red bases remind me of the Necron Homeworld in Dawn of War Dark Crusade (or was it Soulstorm?). Great video, it was a blast. I really liked the progress.
What a huge difference! I'm always torn about repainting my own old models. On the one hand it can be very satisfying to reinvigorate them. On the other hand I feel nostalgic about the old paint job and it kinda feels like you're not moving forward with your pile of shame... anyway, great work!
The differencs lies if you completely change the optic of your army. If you keep your style/colour sheme it doesnt matter, and it might you remind you of your progress you have made over time. If you turn them, why not go full on them.
The custodes and and specific space marine parts are what I’m looking to buy from forge world like the contemptor-Incaendius class draw for the blood angels is so sick. These dreads are sick and almost any custodes model on forge world just looks great and a great addition to your army. Miss the Minotaur miniatures as well as the space charts chapter master big boy because he is such an awesome model.
If you want cleaner results out of your oil washes, gloss coat your model first, then go over the areas you want to clean up with a makeup sponge and some mineral spirits...
OOOHH SHITT... Another person who has the same problem oppening the liquid metal colors XD I thought I was the only one, I ended changing the bottle XD
So is that all you would need to do to repaint something? Cause i'll be doing my first models soon, and if i mess up or think i can do better i wasn't sure how hard it would be to repaint them. Didn't know if i needed to strip the old paint first, or if i could just re prime them and paint again. Hopefully i wont need to of course, but as it's my first go i would feel comfortable knowing just in case lol.
some people like to strip the paint off their models but I think that it is totally unnecessary. I have painted right over many paint jobs and it always looks great.
When I started playing 40k all the bases were goblin green... and I do mean all the bases. The rim included : ) I don't know when everyone got all in a tizzy about painted base rims but I paint your base rims people... set yourselves free!
I'm new to the channel so sorry if you've said this elsewhere but what set up do you have for airbrushing? I want to get one of my own but I'm limited by the technology of my time aka I live in an apartment so an air compresser isn't really an option and maybe it's the magic of editing but I never hear one in your vids so I was wondering if you have one of those electric powered ones or if you had any reccomendations.
I have a video on MY airbrush set up :ruclips.net/video/mNYSdQcLbcI/видео.html&ab_channel=EonsOfBattle I do use an electric compressor with a tank but I find it WAY TOO loud. I used to use an old tankless compressor and found that it a nice medium hum, alot like a microrwave.
There really isn't a lot of difference between brands of varnishes really, its more in how its applied to the surface, be sure that whatever you are applying it to is clean, especially oils from your skin from handling it, and build up layers of very light coats letting them dry in between, it drys fast so that's not a problem, until you get the desired effect instead of trying to cover in one heavier coat, his example of covering until the lines on the stickers is a good example. Hope this helps!
so youre telling me i dont have to paint verdigris anymore? just use liquid copper and leave it in the rain? will it patina faster if I pee on it? Questions need answers
i have a question for you. do you live in the Chicago. if you do would you like some models from 2006 and 2007 mostly black templar and some tau. most are unpainted some a just painted black. if so let me know.
It would be cool to paint a model with the copper, but with the intention of letting it oxidise. Could be a long term project, or potentially sped up chemically.
If I were to do those I would do mabe a grassy or rocky base the top exoskeleton plates i wo I like do in a matte Blackstone look the legs and. Under body in gunmetal to bright silver and I would 100% find clear red acrylic rods to go in the weapons and drill out the weapons and eyes and put red LEDs in them
RIP Penguin Knight thou sacrifice will not be forgotten!
High School
Forge World
What a charmed life you lived.
Man looks like jay and I share something in common

Victrix ?
I got way too excited when I saw my terminator at the end. Models like these are what make the necrons so cool
I really appreciate the commitment to the "Used Kitty littler is fine in a pinch" joke
Those are fucking stunning my dude. It's been fun watching your abilities grow.
They turned out absolutely amazing and your force is just beautiful.
I couldn't take it i had to skip to the end to see how it turned out! So good!!!
I always love your bases, Jay. But the subtle colours of these two (and, I guess, your whole Necron army), is art. Also, your grey base rims look great. I thought I was a rebel painting mine dark purple, but you took it all the way.
Fantastic army! Necrons were my first army before I moved towards fantasy
Your necrons look unbelievable.. Wow!
Honestly, that old paint scheme on the Tombstalker is really not that bad. The blue light glow on white is really a nice effect! Anyway appreciate the resin model recovery tutorial not enough on YT.
Agreed, that old paint scheme just needed weathering and it would've pulled off a Grimdark feel fasntastically.

Now that is a beautiful army of necrons.
Now I want a set of twins!
Incredible! seriously impressed.
Seeing the damaged yugiho cards brings back the haunting memory of my brother drawing on all of my rare cards 😢
These looked fantastic, and then when they joined the rest of the army I was really impressed! It looks so good!

this is an amazing mini sculpt.
Somehow had missed this video. Nice job! I still lament that you abandoned blue for orange because Bluecrons are Bestcrons, but nevertheless the result looks great.
Also, i need that Kermit model.
All excellent but those bases are something else
EoB will reanimate these necrons... Also nurgle flying shrimp is best name for that Nurgle drone... something, i've ever heard!
Super late, just found your channel recently, and i love your content so far!
RIP Kroot dinosaurs, I have most units from the tau forgeworld range but these went the way of the dodo before I could get my hands on them :(
Old school Chaos Warrior 😔 That's Krell, Lord of Undeath.
Krell was a Chaos Warrior before he died, so... technically correct, I s'pose?
Such cool models!
I was really really sceptical of the paint theme you chose through the first half of the video. But they turned out incredible! Really well done and goes so well with the base.
Power to the Canoptek Necrons!
As others have said, applying an acrylic gloss varnish helps the wash behave better and seek recesses more.
Hey Jay have you noticed the ophydian destroyers look like the old wraits
Your red bases remind me of the Necron Homeworld in Dawn of War Dark Crusade (or was it Soulstorm?). Great video, it was a blast. I really liked the progress.
It was soulstorm (Kauvara). Dark crusade necrons were underground(Kronus).
The Tomb Stalker is my ONLY Forge World model. I love my sexy murderpede!!
Personally I think young high school you did a grand job on your creepy crawlies
What a huge difference! I'm always torn about repainting my own old models. On the one hand it can be very satisfying to reinvigorate them. On the other hand I feel nostalgic about the old paint job and it kinda feels like you're not moving forward with your pile of shame... anyway, great work!

Aluminum foil is a good easy mask as well.

Has "butt pincer" become an official term fro those, now? I think it has. Great to see you breathing new life in (relatively) old models.
Whole lotta yes !
"Don't break... Don't break... Don't break!" :D
OOOHH SHITT...

Alpharius and 4:07.
Vallejo Game color copper is also a very good paint, btw.

That kermit with a chainsaw... that scares me
I swear I could smell the liquid copper
Black rims are for hosers. Paint your rims something that slaps!
Man, i didnt see the new scheme until now. Really nice, man. Do you have any suggestion on barnishing with aerograph? (Like brands, dilution etc?=)
I know this is way late but I think a decent way of connecting those models to a base is to pin it with a heavier paper clip than normal
I love the mess out of that Liquid Gold/Silver/Copper line, but I can't believe I didn't think of using a pipette. /facepalm
How did you make your airbrush spatter on purpose? That sounds handy
I set the PSI very very low
I like how you made them kiss
Something I didn't know I needed. :o
Sure would be cool if forge world would actually make some of these to sell. I'd really like to have one

haha i laughed out loud at bs and ws 4. nothing like paying forge world for 4up hits. good ol FW rules lol. these look great
Isn’t that where the technomancer comes in? Stupid regardless but still.
What space marine chapter is your logo? Why is it not black templars?
so youre telling me i dont have to paint verdigris anymore? just use liquid copper and leave it in the rain? will it patina faster if I pee on it? Questions need answers
How did you come up with a paint Scheme like that?
Base rims must be black like my soul!!!
pls start doing army showcases

Noooooooo not the value-less Yu-Gi-Oh! cards 😭 I'm so sorry Penguin Knight

I don't know why, but when you said rise and shine i thought of G man saying: "Rise and shine Mr. necron centapide. Rise, and, shine."
Remember to like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm 😁👍🏼
the algorithm is apeased!
Yeah baby got a my models on RUclips 🤣😂 and he got my name right
If the simple strip of decal counts as a 2 ¹/² million decals I can only imagine what u think of any bandai Master Grade Ver.Ka decal sheet.
Wait, you use Micro-Sol, but don't pair it with Micro-Set?
I do if the decal is going over a tricky shape like a round space marine shoulder pad, but on these mostly flat body segments, there is no need.
wow
That's not a Magic Card.... :D
I don't wanna lose me krieg bois

If you use an alpha or beta black lotus card the model will basically paint itself.
Oxidized paint changing colours … very grim dark if u ask me

Star Trek collectible card game for the original series would be my choice
Forgeworld used to have... charm?
Have I already been born?
Why does „exactor“ sound like any weird space marine unit
