      brilliant video! Makes me want to try out kitbashing myself :) I was thinking maybe you can make the back wings come out of the chaos marine backpack thrusters (where it's skulls, instead of the regular exhausts). So the wings can come out of the "skull's" open mouth. Anyway just a thought, good luck!

      @@jorgemontero6384 Yeah, that's one barrier. I can sculpt to fill assembly gaps, but it takes a while until you can make major details that are indistinguishable from the original kit after painting.
      I wish I had the motivation to practice it, but doing it to fill gaps is my least favourite part of mini prep work by far. Don't have the patience, hah.

    wow that must be scary as a content creator, to upload 2 hours of editing knowing it could disappear in to the algorithm voids!? good luck sir. Like, subscribe, share and comment people.

      I kind of suspect its a compilation of previously patreon only content edited together for reason of a sponsor ... ? I mean, this would be half a years output for tovarions regular uploading speed and volume, and it's several different projects which would each take at least days to finish up just the conversion work without capturing footage or anything. Either this was one hell of a baller sponsoring ... or ... ?

    • @zamo9660
      @zamo9660 2 месяца назад +11

      It's insane how B tier content creators (I'm fine with them, even like some) take something from Chris... or the latest they watched from Marco, whoever, then they poorly replicate it and their vids do well, but the source creators are always struggling.
      I mean, I've really seen average painters (I'm really fine with them really not trying to sound harsh) repeating mantras, not really knowing what or why they're doing (Tommy Soule has been always very vocal about this).
      You said scary but I feel that's more like off putting and disheartening.
      BTW user interaction! This is good for the algorithms, cheers! 😅

    • @zamo9660
      @zamo9660 2 месяца назад +4

      @thomads3890 Kind of suspect ? Chris openly says he put together these old videos within the first 30 seconds... not I watched the "sister of brother" conversion video like 1 year ago, no Patreon involved. 😊
      There are very prolific content creators and very few powerhouses: you name them: Chris, Sergio Calvo (may not be the case because you can't extract 'gimmicks' out of his teachings so easily), Marco Frisoni, Roman Vincent... you get the idea. These dudes need a certain amount of time (and experience) to release a video on a subject.
      Then average painters take that knowledge pill and make fast easy content out of it (underpinning/ grisalle turning into slapchop or using oils as 'contrast killer method') You get the idea.
      It's cool to have tons of content so painters van get both informed and entertained. But it comes to a point where the EZ entertaining content overflows the feed and the resourceful informative content get buried under, not receiving love.
      That's why IMHO he's doing this: to re float the topic.😊
      Cheers!

    • @trovarion
      @trovarion  2 месяца назад +84

      For what it's worth: yes, this is a complation video like stated in the intro, edited in a way where the topics build on each other. I wanted to do it for a while, just like I did with the grimdark space marines (which is now my most watched video at almost 450k views), because new viewers sometimes don't know the old stuff and sometimes I will take some parts for granted and not explain them a third time - but in a compilation they are explained and then built upon. I find that very educational.
      I have a few videos I plan as a series these days, which will end up as compilations for educational purposes, almost like you would structure a "how to paint minis" book for example.
      Also a lot of people like to throw them up on the TV and watch them in one go. And yes, I asked into the AM if they want to sponsor it, because it simply helps. We are not talking about "new Lambo" money here, we are talking about worrying about rent 1 month less and maybe pay an editor for the next video. Less worrying helps me be more creative, and to work on more videos. I think it's a win win.

    I've done most of my scupting with a normal sort of thickness sewing needle mounted in some PCL plastic to make a nice handle. But I have found those 'default' sculpting tools very useful for the wide variety of shapes they come with - its a good roughing tool, does a good job of pushing stuff around in that early phase. Plus those tools are cheap and have enough meat in them you can reshape the tips for textures you need to stamp out.

    5:13 - this might be covered later, but I often find it easier to do very small detailing by adding a larger amount and working backwards with sanding/filing/carving. Especially when adding lots of custom sculpting, taking your time and letting some bits harden is a lot less frustrating and error prone than trying to do, say, a cape, pauldrons and helmet detailing all at once.
    The other thing is using a soldering iron for battledamage, as well as other more "industrial tools." Hobby tools tend to be overpriced and less functional. If you want a drill, just get a decent cordless drill instead of a rinky dink hobby drill and then you can mount a TV or fix a chair as well.

    21:07- Yeah…… I’ve never used this brand before….. but I have used Green Sh!t…….. oh, sorry… Green Stuff before! And OH BOY! What a horrible time almost every single time!!! I think my biggest issue I had every time was getting the green stuff to actually stick to what and where I wanted it to go!!! Like what you were just showing right before this time stamp, I would get the leg thing to stick for about 10% of it….. and then when I went up a bit higher to keep pushing it back to connect it would ALL let go and would NEVER STICK AGAIN!!! And I NEVER found a happy medium for it to NOT stick to my fingers but would stick to plastic!!! I want to say I probably went though at the least 5 packs of green stuff (never more than 2% of it at a time) trying to figure out why people like it so much and how to use it to work properly and actually stick to where I wanted it to go!!! And….. yeah….
