I really enjoyed your review. Especially the failed attempt to get on the tractor and the sound effects and tire rolling past. Good job, also the 5’16” comment lol.
That was one of the most informative and entertaining videos I've seen while preparing to purchase my first tractor. Thanks for making this. Maybe you could add some teeth to your bucket to help you deal with that zombie problem :)
Yeah - glad you said something! I played it over a couple of times to confirm what he said, lol. By that standard I'm 5'14", so I had to make sure what I was hearing! 🙂
Very good 100 hour review one of the best, you speak very clearly and don’t ramble. You speak to all the important points that any first time trActor buyer would or could be concerned with. Very good video! 👍🏻 PS. I love your humor as well, keeps it interesting.
I generally use the turning brake with a rear implement, and no loader, for example while brush hogging you can make a pass then at the u turn point you lift your 3 point this takes the majority of the weight off of the front wheels turn the wheel and grab a brake and she will generally turn almost like a zero turn, however there are risk, so use this technique with caution.
Thank you very much for this video, I have the B2301 with loader and backhoe on order and will hopefully see it in about 2 months. My neighbor has a JD I've borrowed for years and a friend has a Kubota, I don't see any advantage to the JD other than they are a few thousand more, I can't find any several thousand dollar advantage except maybe the paint?? As you said it isn't a sports car. This made me feel secure about my purchase. Funny about tech manuals, I was a factory rep for Carrier (HVAC) and when you mentioned the manuals I identify with that, tried to get them to change things, edit, reword, organize like items to one area, all I ever got from higher ups was "Carrier is like a big cruise ship and you can't turn those on a dime". I was hedging between the 2301 & 2601, again I don't the several thousand more for 3 hp. For 30hp maybe.
Probably the best review on youtube. I had a BX2380 on order, but the dealer wont have in stock for who-knows-how-long, but they do have the B2301, which 3-point and Loader wise is quite a bit more than the BX. I'll be buying the B2301.
Yup - well done presentation. I'm looking to buy this model (used) and I watched your video from beginning to end. It is very helpful. (I've owned one previous Kubota tractor).
Thanks for the great review old mate! I’m just looking at my first tractor & think the kubotas look good. Hope ur still happy with yours. Cheers from Tasmania Australia 👍🏻
Looking to buy my first tractor and this was a huge help. I was concerned that the 2301 would be too small/under powered but you're examples of what it can do have convinced me otherwise. Thanks for a great video!
Very detailed video. I also have owned the B2301 for 4 years now. Just installed the LA435 front loader recently so I can get more work done. And working on installing a 3rd function kit (OEM Kubota) so I can get a grapple. Thank you for sharing your experience with your tractor.
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 Update: I got the Kubota OE 3rd function and installed it myself. Pretty straightforward. And now I am looking for the grapple. I have my eye on a couple different ones but weight is a concern. I am trying to get one that's not too heavy. The two so far are the Precision Manufacturing 322 which weighs in at 264 lbs and $3,300 and the Homestead Pinnacle which weighs in at 302 lbs and is $2,200. Tough choice but I am leaning towards the Homestead. Do you have anything in mind?
I have a 2013 L3200 gear drive purchased new and I purchased a new B3201 with a loader 6 months ago. Always stored inside and used on a infrequent basis at my property in rural MN. The L3200 is my food plot and trail tractor, the B2301 is a dedicated loader tractor. These and previous Kubota products have given excellent service and are essential to help maintain a rural property. Thanks for the video!
I hear you on opening the hood. On my B2601 I installed a 10 gauge wire loop in the 2 small holes when the hood is completely open under the front lip. Open the hood completely and look under the very bottom front lip for the 2 holes, feed the wire through and connect to each other with a heat shrink butt connector then you have a simple loop handle.
I'm sure others have commented, but 2wd is needed for the braking. And it's super beneficial when turning on terrace rows and in tight spots. Wonderful video. I've been raised on a farm my entire life and now I'm building a farmstead of my own. Looking into this tractor for me and my wife
The double brake pedal serves as a traction director. With LSD differentials you may get into a situation were one tire is spinning and the other is sitting still. In this case you can apply slight pressure to the peddle restricting rotation of the tire without traction and shift some more power to the tire that is sitting still, Almost like Diff Lockers! This is very useful. This also helps in slippery cases like plowing snow. If your tractor wont steer right you can restrict power to the right rear tire! BOOM
First time viewer, really enjoyed your insights. Loved the crashing sounds and tire rolling by. You should patent your bucket level indicator, if possible make it dual purpose so those of us with pallet forks could know when the bucket is level and when the forks are level, it’s almost always different. Thank you for a very good and informative video. Have a blessed day!
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 Yes, I ended up buying a 2017 Kioti 3510 with 6 like new implements, with one year left on the warranty and only 200 hours. I got a good deal. It had everything I needed so it was easy. I bought it from a Kioti dealer in Colorado and I had them add the T & T and I'm glad I did. I've already used it quite a bit and its quite the work horse. So now I'm happy with my new toy. Thanks again.
Good overall review. Thanks my only comment is the Dual brake. I think other people have already commented he cannot be in 4-wheel drive. It does work very well I have used it to mow you have to go quicker hit one break turn at the same time and trust me you will know it works it will whip you around.
I found the dual brake pedals to be helpful while pushing snow on a blacktop driveway. When the bucket is down the front tires don’t grab as well to steer. Using one of the brake pedals helps me straighten the tractor out while pushing snow with the bucket down.
It was in 2WD for the demo, just too much grip on the front at that time. I have learned since, however, that when I have a heavy load on the back the front wheels get light and that's when the brake bias helps.
You are talented and your voice is one of your greatest assets. I have a B2601 and my beef with the treadle pedal has been reverse. I find it stiff and awkward. But it's getting better. I chocked the pedal with a 2x4 for a while trying to loosen the spring. May have helped but probably have just gotten used to it.
You bet. Glad the video was helpful. BTW: I'll send an invoice to Kubota requesting my commission. I may have sold three or four B2301s for them already.
Awesome videos thanks for sharing- My tractor was delivered without the lower retaining pins inserted into the 3 point swing arm adjustment pins. I have since left them without retaining pins. Gravity holds them in there just fine and I can remove and replace them easily. Only consideration would be if I flip the tractor, at that point the three point implement would be putting so much pressure on the pins they would be unlikely to fall out. Just some thoughts
Hey man this is the best and comprehensive vidio on compact tractors I have seen yet. Your skill set Lively hood talents have realy shined through. You should buy some more bigger tractors and go professional U tube vidio production. Reason why; you are a big guy this little kubogy is allways maxed out for you. I have a 54 hp kubogy , 36 hp M-F ,and a 21hp M-F and would like to get a 25-30 hp Branson. I retired (mostly) from contruction work (39years) and still have a good back. These handy dandy compact tractors are very usefull, but there is no "one right size for anybody" that is why I want another one. Maybe just " more money than brains". The kubogy MX5200 TLB was my first rig; way too big for the small stuff. Almost got a kubota B2650 but dicovered it is built like a tinker toy. It would of been the right size for "a two tractor ,I can do anything fleet". The next size is a L2501,3301or3901 a good choice for a universal "singleulare fleet" but primitive. My Massey-Ferguson 1736 is pure "Cadillac" but a bit big. The M-F 1020 is a 1988 model hydro-slack-o-matic with no loader, two wheel drive, no power steering rig but it was "cheep". A Branson 2515 or 3015 for you and me ( they are very inexpensive and built like tanks ;all steal and cast iron) would be a good next or first choice for many.
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 The 1st 25 have been great! I'm surprised at the strength and capabilities of the 2301. I have a grapple and have picked up and moved some fairly substantial logs with it (with safety in mind of course). When dries out here in Central Ohio a little more I look forward to getting the bush hog out and going nuts!
Thanks, nice review. I downsized to a BX 2380. It is missing split breaks, which I miss. They are useful on my Yanmar 2020D. With out power steering, simply slowing down the inside wheel provides a boost. Instead of engaging the diff lock, simply add enough drag to equalize traction. Under conditions, like when back dragging or when the front gets lite with a heavy tong weight , the split breaks can help tracking, or steering. (hey you could fix my punctuation!) 32 hours later, I wonder if I went the right way. I miss the three point linear adjustment, as well. Your point on the repeatable stop looks warrented. I would consider adding an additional stop, on the up side. This could be set to avoid the pto shaft running at hard working angles. A bucket level indicator is new to me. Now I would miss it. Nice retrofit there. As delivered a number of things where painted shut on my BX. That hood ornament is my gun sight, especially on a first row. Yup er, the 'cuckoo clock' springs flew when I fell off the Yanmar. Ouch. Be safe Chris
Great video , I can relate to a lot of your review, I too have wondered why is she struggling, and I looked down and you guessed it. now I make it a habit before I move the tractor to always push on the brake pedal, when I changed the fuel filter with mine the fuel gauge was on empty and a slow pour of fuel drained , being on empty the catch pan caught it all but the fuel pour never stopped. I bought mine to build a 150 foot driveway and level land next to my garage, to hire someone to do these jobs the quotes were around $25,000, Have a great one be careful.
I've also since developed the habit of releasing the brake every time I get on the tractor. Most of the time it's actually not set anyway. Good call on getting a tractor to DIY your driveway. Not only did you save a lot of $$$ but now you have a tractor to boot. Thanks for the comment.
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 Thank you for your reply, I got the step off a B2650 , and it help me Not to pull on the steering wheel. individual brakes when you are using your loader to back drag and compact material when your front wheels are lift off the ground then the brakes can steer the tractor, a friend of mine with 25 years heavy equipment operating experience enlightened me. I have a 2015. My bucket tilts too. I actually use that to my advantage for ditching. PTO HP was on Par with the L2501. I needed the smaller tractor for woods trails and I COULDN"T be HAPPIER!!! I've had a bigger tractor before and the smaller tractor is awesome!!
Agreed. I had the option for the slightly wider version but since I have a Christmas tree farm and need to get between the rows of spruces the 2301 was a perfect match.
Excellent review! You made this video a pleasure while watching and learning at the same time. Thank you, as this will help me pick out my first Tractor 😁
Very helpful video, will definitely subscribe to your channel. I’m getting ready to purchase either the B23 or B26 depending mostly on what deal I can get. I don’t need the extra hp now but I might need it down the road doing side jobs. Thanks again, awesome job. 😎
Thanks for the comment, and welcome aboard. Hopefully you can get a good deal on the 26. Having more power that you don't use is always better than not having not enough power when you could use it.
I was in 2WD in the demo but the tractor basically tracks per the angle of the front wheels. I have since discovered one place the split brake is effective when steering isn't like when I have a lot of weight on the back and going up an incline.
If no loader, and weight on the back, results may have been much different. I'm still looking for a video showing removal and installation of the loader on a B2301.
There is a trick that can help start the engine smoother when its extra cold out. You don't want to keep the glow plugs going for too long because it can cause them to wear prematurely. So you want to cycle them manually. Turn the key so the glow plugs come on for 10 seconds and then let go of the key without trying to start it. Count to 20 and then cycle the glow plugs for another 10 seconds and let go again. I usually cycle mine 3 times if temp is between 0 and 20 F.
I have a 2601 and love it. Amazing what you can get done with a little tractor. It looks like you and I are building similar channels. Look forward to following along. Subscribed - Good luck!
The cutting breaks are for when you are carrying a heavy load on the 3 point or something of the sort where your front wheels loose traction and you need to turn at a faster rate than you would with the front tires skipping off the surface.
Great review! I have the B2601 and love it. I think your loader should be level when it touches down. I added some grab hooks on my bucket recently. You can find the video on my channel and may find the mod useful. 5' 16" tall, haha. I like that. In time, you may want to add a 3rd function valve and grapple - you'll love it!
A grapple is next on my list. So many jobs I've done that would have been so much easier had I already had one. Not looking forward to having to add that 3rd function though.
Great video ! I like to address something else. When you working at dark back light on instrument panel/dashboard is horrible. Almost like they intend to camouflage temp, rpm and fuel level needles. I had 2680 before so back light was great, plus haven't notice low fuel level light indicator yet on 2601/2301 which was good indicator to refill BX 5 gal diesel can at once. More annoying is seat switch. Im just 185 lbs guy so any little hump or hole and tractor trying to shut off. Basically have to work with gravity and push my rear end down almost all the time.
My daughter has the same problem with the seat switch. She's too light and has to push on the steering column with her foot to keep her rear end down. I'm thinking either feed her more so she gains weight, or maybe cut a coil off the seat springs so she doesn't bounce up so high when hitting a bump.
Using it with the tilt forward is pretty much using the till all the time, not to move it but if you got it without the tilt your wheel would be back quite a bit and make it much less comfortable for you since you’re tall. Glad you got it. Lol Skid steering or breaks steering is usually when your front end is pushing if you’re in mud and it’s really sloppy soft wet mud you’ll steering your tractor will just keep going forward if use the brake steer then it will steer a lot more like normal. When you’re sloshing around in the mud you’ll appreciate it like if you’re sliding downInto a ditch and your steering out of it but it’s just not going the skid steer will help quite a bit
I enjoyed your review. I have a B2601 and my bucket tilts to the left looks like yours goes to the right when the edge touches. I wonder if it can be adjusted because it is wearing my bucket more on that side. It was like that from the beginning 1/2 inch off. I thought I was being picky so I didn't say anything to the dealer.
Great videos in anticipation of my b2601 whenever that comes in from the dealer. FYI watch some of the grapple videos that bent the frame. Think back if you ever picked up or tried to move something very heavy or stuck with one of the corners that might have bent the frame. Might want to try to reverse the process.
I'll do that. Although, I'm thinking the designers at Kubota would know to limit the strength of the hydraulics to be under the max weight of the loader, thus the hydraulics would stall before damage to the loader assembly would occur. But, I've worked with plenty of engineers at GM over the years to know not to trust engineers.
Note: The LX2601 has a parking brake indicator and an exhaust deflector. Might be worth seeing if the sensor for the brake and the deflector will bolt right on to the 2301. Worth asking the dealer, I suppose. Good luck on that!
Thanks for the tip. I've developed a habit of releasing the parking brake (even when it isn't on) every time I get on the tractor now, but definitely can still use the exhaust deflector.
I found that out later when running a friend's tractor with a rear finish mower and no loader up front. Light front end which resulted in zero turning when going up even a slight grade. Individual brakes came in handy then.
Sounds like a perfect job during stay-at-home ordinance. Hopefully I have some wax on hand. I doubt the authorities will think that going out to get some Meguiar's is an essential activity. LOL. Thanks for watching.
Dual pedal would free up some floor space as well. Sometimes I could use it when bringing a tool bag or something like that out to the field with me. That being said, it won't stop me from buying another Kubota when the time comes. I'll just add a carry-all or larger toolbox instead.
I just pulled the trigger on b2601. Had very briefly considered a B2401. My dealer says he doesn't even stock them, prefers hydro for this type of tractor. I've seen others note that as well. Unless you're setting and driving many acres, it's a pain(especially loader work with the constant back an forth... LOTS of shifting on a manual)
@@thecountrylivingproject3263it’s not a shuttle shift. Old fashioned non-synchro shifting, definitely not ideal unless mowing large areas or pulling long distances. Not recommended if making lots of stops/starts or forwards/backwards movements.
i preffer using it when the front wheels are up of the ground for turning i use a 3point ridget loggrapple and the front seems to be way too light i use a 1997 russian t25 and thats not made for that but it gets the job done and hello from estonia in europe
Thanks. I've since discovered exactly that as I now sometimes use a friend's tractor to mow his lawn. He's got a finish mower on the back and no loader on the front. Front is very light and definitely need the split brake when turning even slightly uphill.
I really enjoyed your review. Especially the failed attempt to get on the tractor and the sound effects and tire rolling past. Good job, also the 5’16” comment lol.

Yes one of the main reasons for this feature is for lost traction on one drive wheel
Nice review. They are fantastic investments.

A Branson 2515 or 3015 for you and me ( they are very inexpensive and built like tanks ;all steal and cast iron) would be a good next or first choice for many.
I believe the independent brakes will work to your advantage in two wheel drive for instance pulling an implement
Great video, just purchased a B2301, this will be useful...thanks
Congratulations, and good luck.
I'm nearing 25 hours on my 2301 and I'm sure I'll hit 50 quickly as the weather gets warmer. Thanks for the updates.
Nice! How was the first 25 hours?
(hey you could fix my punctuation!)
32 hours later, I wonder if I went the right way.
I plan on replacing that knob and using these type of washers : www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiuvruw1eXtAhUtg1oFHb04BSsYABAEGgJ2dQ&sig=AOD64_3EofJZzV8T_jM_BCs3B_1CNIS1dw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiR3LOw1eXtAhVip1kKHTeXC-8Q9aACegQICBBN&adurl=
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for making this video. It is very informative and well narrated.
You're very welcome! Thanks for your comment.
Excellent tractor video and review. Best I’ve seen yet. Subscribed for sure. Just ordered a 2650
Excellent review
Nice review. Thank you!
Great information and video, thank you.
You are welcome, and thanks for the comment.
Great video very informative and to the point nice touch with the humor 😎
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review, the split brakes only shorten your turn while in 2-wheel drive.
Thanks for the tip. I'll have to be sure to remember that come next January.
Really appreciate the review. I am new to tractors and this really helped me decide what products to consider.
Glad it was helpful. Good luck with your new purchase.
At 1:35 Im pretty sure you almost ran over a cat! I had to listen to it a couple times! Thanks for the insight!
me too
The split brake is best used in two wheel drive. Get a larger knob for your three point adjust.
Need a block heater for way below zero surprised your dealer didn't install one for the area you live
Great job! Nice to see an honest and clear review keep it going!
Much appreciated!
I have a 2601 and love it. Amazing what you can get done with a little tractor. It looks like you and I are building similar channels. Look forward to following along. Subscribed - Good luck!
Right on!
Great video very informative!. Thanks!!
Nice vid, informative and funny.. glad I'm not 5'16" tall 😅
The cutting breaks are for when you are carrying a heavy load on the 3 point or something of the sort where your front wheels loose traction and you need to turn at a faster rate than you would with the front tires skipping off the surface.
Makes sense. Right now we are in the rainy season so I have a feeling I'll may find that handy soon when driving around in the mud.
The Country Living Project yeah mine was dealer installed. But lots of people install them. You can do it!
@@MyClutteredGarage I consider installing it the fun part, actually. It's the $550 price tag for the kit that I'm not looking forward to.
Love the Friday the 13th clip
Very informative. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Using it with the tilt forward is pretty much using the till all the time, not to move it but if you got it without the tilt your wheel would be back quite a bit and make it much less comfortable for you since you’re tall. Glad you got it. Lol
Skid steering or breaks steering is usually when your front end is pushing if you’re in mud and it’s really sloppy soft wet mud you’ll steering your tractor will just keep going forward if use the brake steer then it will steer a lot more like normal.
Solid video brother, thanks for all the great info
You bet.
This is a great video. Thanks for this!
My pleasure!
The Turning break can be useful when pushing with the loader bucket and you lift the weight off the front steers causing you to lose traction
I found that out later when running a friend's tractor with a rear finish mower and no loader up front. Light front end which resulted in zero turning when going up even a slight grade. Individual brakes came in handy then.
Good video! The orange paint definitely requires attention if you want to keep it from fading. I try to wax mine at least once a year, sometimes more.
Sounds like a perfect job during stay-at-home ordinance. Hopefully I have some wax on hand. I doubt the authorities will think that going out to get some Meguiar's is an essential activity. LOL. Thanks for watching.
Great video have the b2601 with the new quick detach front end loader. The treadle peddle sucks wish I had dual pedals instead.
Dual pedal would free up some floor space as well. Sometimes I could use it when bringing a tool bag or something like that out to the field with me. That being said, it won't stop me from buying another Kubota when the time comes. I'll just add a carry-all or larger toolbox instead.
Thank you. Very good.
You are most welcome.
Great video - very informative. Currently looking at a B2401; it's my understanding the manual has much more pulling power than the HST.
It makes sense that a manual trans might be better than an HST for pulling. Is that 2401 a shuttle shift?
Do you have a video on that post hole digger storage rack? Great video btw, I just bought the BX2301 and your video was very informative.
I do have a video that details the PHD stand. Here's a link: ruclips.net/video/c-g8KF39pFs/видео.html
@@thecountrylivingproject3263 Thank you very much!
Thank you very informative
You bet! And thanks for watching.
I use brake steer when pushing snow on ice.
My B7100 HST DT, at almost 40 years old still chugging along well over 4000 hrs, the only thing I wish for is power steering with the loader.
Nice!
i preffer using it when the front wheels are up of the ground for turning i use a 3point ridget loggrapple and the front seems to be way too light i use a 1997 russian t25 and thats not made for that but it gets the job done and hello from estonia in europe
Thanks. I've since discovered exactly that as I now sometimes use a friend's tractor to mow his lawn. He's got a finish mower on the back and no loader on the front. Front is very light and definitely need the split brake when turning even slightly uphill.
Good review. I really want a b2301 but I just don’t think I’m going to be able to swing the additional cost over the bx2380 or 2680
Although a bit smaller than the B series, you can still get a lot done with those BXs. Good luck.
