air france a380 ten yrs old in for scrap ...... the 2 lads from silgo at shannon airport for the landing of the an225 and take off with the husky,s how do lads
Not fuel efficient and to much money to run also Dublin Airport is not equipped for an A380 Emerites wanted to use a A380 to fly from Dubai to Dublin but wasn't successful so it used Boeing 777
@@seanoneill4690 thanks Sadly, this poor aircraft has since been scrapped. It was only about 10 years too, a fraction of its operational life. Very disappointed as an avid aviation enthusiast.
i find these great and comfortable planes to fly in compared to other models ,millions of euro in advanced engeering and technolgy , sad it should end its days in foggy bog in ireland
That airport is a strange beast which is located in the middle of nowhere between Galway and Sligo. The builders sure are optimistic about how much business will come their way. Shannon Airport is much better positioned right on the motorway between Limerick and Galway.
Only airport in the west. It is doing just fine. People are delighted to have it instead of having to travel down south or east for hours to catch a flight
It was completed in 1986 in what was thought at the time, to be the height of the cold war. The money to build it seemed to have come from nowhere. Various raffles and bazaars were arranged by the founder, Monsignor Horan, to get an airport that would turn Knock into the new Lourdes as there is a Marian shrine there. Cynical people have suggested NATO funded it. Not so cynical people tend to agree that it couldn't have been built on the takings from a few raffles and ceilis alone. As you can see it was built to cope with aircraft far bigger than would ever be needed to transport pilgrims.
Never get tired of looking at this magnificent plane landing. 🤔
That was a seriously smooth landing
It probably looked smooth because it has more wheels

@@TheProG2010 What's your honest opinion on Air France retiring all of their A380s?
@@warwickbull5559 Sad
@@TheProG2010 Yeah I think its darn shame too, what a waste of good capable aircraft.
200th like! Nice video!
What a spectacle
Wow! What was this for?
It was for the retirement of the A380 Air France, it is being scrapped there
She will most likely face the scrappers' shears, saws, and torches.
Reverse thrust was so quick to slow the plane.
I live close to knock and im so sad i missed this!

Ten years only not exactly green. 747's lasted a lot longer.
Why can't Aer Lingus use an A380

Strange there is no livery on the plane. Is it brand spanking new or for the chop . Would it be able to take of / land fully loaded ?.
I reckon it could just about get out with min fuel & load. Just.
Runways a decent 7,700ft.
That would need 6,800ft light & a good headwind.
It was scrapped there along with two others.
They must've picked an extremely windy day
I’ve been to knock airport I didn’t even think it had a big enough runway for her

It's got to end its days somewhere - why not in Ireland where scrappage costs are obviously lowest?

Landing (one way trip) would never get airborne from Knock's runway even with minimum fuel and minimum weight runway just ain't long enough.....
Depends how windy it is
how can an a380 land at ireland west airport knock but not at dublin airport? DUBLIN AIRPORT HAS 3 WHOLE RUNWAYS....
Seine letzte Landung😢
Stupid decision by Air France to scrap their A380 fleet.

Fook Shannon airport. Rup Knock airport. Ya Padman.
The builders called it right back in the early 1980s when construction started. Peripheral development now has government support.

Btw There's no Motorway. The N18 is classified as a National Primary Route. Motorways have a Speed Limit of 120km/h. The N18 is only 100km/h
