Not everyone is cut out for college and there’s nothing wrong with that. His family sucks for making him pay back the money they spent on him. Sure he was investing during study time but he was still studying to pass. Reminds me how bad my family is with handing money and their budgeting is so bad that I had to pay extra so the utilities wouldn't be shut off.
But the worst part is they blame me that is sad because I'm not the one smoking 10+ times everyday with the window open during winter, taking a bath everyday that really jacks both the gas and electric usage, leaving the lights on for countless hours when no one is going to be in that room, having a freezer chest with food they wouldn't eat where some of food is over a year old that ends up being thrown away, and the list is long.
Where I use a low power battery-operated light that has 80 hours of light time with a once a week charging, a heater during winter in a poorly insulated room, 2 fans with a dehumidifier in the same room with poor ventilation, and the list goes on how I have better budgeting.
As for why I don't move out is because my money is that restrained where I can't even save it long enough to anything without them being stupid with their own money.

Having a college degree helps a lot but that doesn't mean you know everything and it falls down to a person's knowledge, abilities and critical thinking in order to be successful.
Like this story, Ayumu's family only focused on a person's status they disregarded the youngest sibling's other good traits. Look at the results, From the blatant favoritism because of "status", Ayumu's family ended up wasting thier money on stocks and then not heeding to their son's warnings the second time around and again ending up getting scammed out of the savings and retirement funds, so much boosting about being smart but looking like idiots at the end.
