Matsushima road trip with Chris round TWO! Anyone here who watched the original when I posted it? 😂🚗
firsttt :O
This video took me back to when I visited Matsushima. I visited all those places you did and I did manage the boat cruise. I did stay at a ryokan one night before heading back to Sendai.
@@kermit502 How was the boat cruise? It’s so close I might go back and do it :D
@@sharlainjapan It was very nice. I visited in Oct., but surprisingly the weather was warm. It was a break from walking around the area.
"Chi chikuh chikuh Chiiiiii.... chiki chiku chiiii " this is the sound of Indian cicada
The awkward moment when this video gets copyright claimed and Shania Twain gets all your ad revenue.
That won’t impress me much.
DON’T JINX IT
Sharmeleon needs to dub over Too Much Volcano so you and Natsuki can get a cut
Lmao
Watching your old images makes me feel nostalgic.
I think you've become more dignified and dependable compared to those days.
Not again
I am enjoying the video watching "my double" having fun in Matsushima
You’ll have to come along next time! Still need to try out the boat tour :D
Just let the word out of going on a road trip and having some food 🍱 you will find Chris next to you just love his dedication towards food 😂😂❤️❤️
Double lol
You are such a hilarious man, Sir. Stay safe!
You still eveli Ryo or have you mended your ways? Just asking, if you still plan to take over the world I am all for it... just curious... don't have me wacked, man!
What a happy family Chris, Sharla and their very beautiful son Natsuki 🥰
I love that Chris is just the Senior in your group of high school friends that has a car so he drives the group everywhere.
So accurate😂😂
This is the most accurate hot take I've read in a while.
And apparently he's her boyfriend the whole time 😅
Favorite part: Natsukis wife noticing she is on camera and ducking away 🤣👍
Wait I missed that lmao, where in the video was that?
@@HyperLuigi37 9:50
Omg that’s cute haha
She looks right for him somehow lmao, good for him
For me it was "I'm a crimer!"
Nice catch! That’s 4… but who is the OTHER mystery guest?!
YT knows what to recommend
I'm now realizing this was probably a double date. Which is really cute.
yeah it was a double date lol
With Ian as the 5th wheel lol
4:22 Sharla saying the bridge creeps her out meanwhile Chris is having flashbacks of walking across an Indiana Jones bridge made out of vines with huge gaps in between every step as a raging rapid river crashes underneath and typhoon rain is pouring all over him in his latest video.
@@UnChannelDuVulpineX It was more an exaggeration on my part.
It was very nice of you guys to take the bookshelf on your day trip. However, I think it was very cruel to leave it locked up in the car all day! I bet you didn't even crack the window or leave any water for it!
Haha I was wondering what that was! xD
I’m sure the ac was on and it was listening to its favourite tunes!
Too much volcano
LOL
I was wondering the same thing... poor forgotten bookshelf.
Love how Sharla and Natsuki interact in Japanese!(Especially when Natsuki was teaching how we call cicadas)The moments are very lovely 😍💕
Best part, hands down 🖤
I lost it at the chika chika wi part 😂😂😂
I think its funnier that Sharla edited Chris' "subscribe to Abroad in Japan" out halfway~!! XD
She did Chris justice
@@mauiarellano8015 did she?? DID SHE??? XD poor Chris~~ plugging everywhere he can~~
Natsuki: "wow Canadian cicadas are well behaved"
🤣🤣🤣
What are cicadas?
@@mpharo4067 (Your having me on, right?) "... they are found on all continents except Antarctica,"
Cicadas are a very noisy type of insect found all over the world. When a large brood emerges the males make a loud buzzing sound. With millions of cicadas calling it can reach "deafening" levels.
They really arnt tho. they make this constant sound. something between a whistle and nails on a chalkboard. Might be she forgot as growing up here it just becomes white noise but i've had visitors that could not stand the sound.
Edit: I should point out i'm referring to Dog-day Cicadas which are an annual cicada and are very common in Canada.
@@TheHollowjoint i wonder if it can also be due to the location? I live in a city where there is still some semblance of greenery here and there and cicadas (or kuliglig in filipino) can still be heard, but not much of a ruckus unlike in the provinces where there are more trees etc.
It is amusing to note that the Japanese have names for the different cicadas according to the sounds they make. In my hometown's dialect (chavacano) we call them sirik sirik mainly because of the sound that they make.
@@dreadogastusf3548 Sounds like crickets to me?
Good to see Chris again as the dad who drives his kids on road trips
The cut off of Chris at the end 😂
We can safely assume he was gonna say "Subscribe to Ryotaro's Japan."
that was hilarious
Natsuki: "wow Canadian cicadas are well behaved!"
Canadian Cicadas: "Sorry"
I love that you actually practice your Japanese with Natsuki while Chris is just like "Naw, we're doing English."
Well Chris already mastered in Japanese and I believe he have say in his video that he kinda lazy to edit a subtitle in his video when speaking Japaneses so that's why he prefer English
It’s actually really nice if you learn Japanese outside of Japan. I felt happy that I understood some of it without subtitles.
I don’t think sharla has to practise anymore since she is a translator haha but yeah
I mean Chris explained it a couple of times: He doesn't want to do subtitles in post, so he choses to speak as little Japanese in videos as possible. I can somewhat understand that. Abroad in Japan videos are already very well crafted and probably require quite a lot of time. Adding subtitles on top of that would increase the workload even more.
Isn't she fluent though, she lived in Japan for over 10 years, she's almost Japanese at this point
Chris always has that smug smile in every video he's featured on

Leave the man in the dark side
His general expression has gone in the same direction 😂
I love Natsuki's bug facts. The fact that he is so interested in what Sharla has to think about what it sounds like is so wholesome.
I think this is my favorite video from you, at some points in your previous videos I did appreciate the calmness and serenity. But the feeling of a family trip in this one is so strong and wholesome. It´s like soothing skin care for the soul.
Bug lessons with Natsuki and Sharla XD. I loved that you were talking in Japanese most of the video and that you added some flashbacks of your previous trip with Chris. I want that dancing cat hehe.
I think we should officially add "Crimer" into the English Language after Natsuki's 'The Crimer Look' xD
I'd like a Natsuki dictionary of funny stuff he says.
Better than some of the other words that have been added 🤷
@@LP-mo3sh “lil b comes running” is now my fiancé’s favorite thing and we’re dying 😂 thank you
Fun fact: German has two words for criminal: Krimineller and Verbrecher, the latter translates literally as "crimer".
@@LP-mo3sh I'm sure it was a linguistic commentary on how English strayed away from its Germanic roots due to the French influence after the invasion of the British isles by William the Second.
"Cicadas are named after the noise they make" - I think I finally understand why Pokemon say their own names O.O
Holy crap. Holy freakin crap.
So happy to see a new video from you 😊🥰
Thank you so much for watching!! 💕
I'm really happy for you that you got the apartment in Sendai and that your friends are in close proximity now. I can't wait for the apartment tour!! Also, I was wondering if you would be interested in making a video about how you met each of your friends who appeared in your videos so far and for how long you know them?

@@leightonrud66 Your prepubescent ‘stache? Agreed. 🤡

I like that there’s a bookcase in the car but no explanation as to why. Though Ian seemed somewhat protective of it.
I too liked the dancing cat.
No cicadas in the PNW this summer so probably none in BC as well.
Thx for the fun video!
I live on Vancouver Island and they were here! I heard a couple during my breaks during work :) definitely not as loud as in this video.
They don’t want the bookcase to lean or fall on him while driving
Looking back, this was most definitely a double date. So sweet.
it's so nice to hear you guys talk in Japanese
Natsuki is the national treasure of Japan, protect him at all costs
It's so weird seeing you coming back to a place you visited most of a decade ago! So many things have happened, so many big ups and downs, and yet it's a bunch of the same crew acting the same way, just a little older and a little wiser! This is really cool!
The flashbacks were funny, and with nice flashback music. Chris has changed so much. Sharla looks the same.
"Some British guy took off with our building"
"Well we probably shouldn't have written Police Box on the outside of it"
Are you refering to the Doctor? (Whovians unit)
Chris as the 14th doctor?
@@Deziness777 With Sharla and Natsuki as the companions. I'd watch that.
When I saw that I was thinking "that's a big TARDIS."
"Bye Maro! You gonna be a good boy?"
Maro looks up: "Do I look anything like a good boy?"
He's the goodest bad boy.
Accurate comment is accurate
I started to be interested in the movies that foreigners are posting about Japan because I started watching Sharla-san's videos.
So I'm very grateful to Sharla-san and I'm always wondering if Sharla-san is always happy.
I pray that Sharla-san will live happily for a long time.
Ah yes, Chris, the driver for all Northern Japan trips
Beautiful area. A shame a lot of places were closed for the day on your trip. You have Natsuki though, who’s a Matsushima attraction all to himself, haha.
First of all, you look SO gorgeous!! That dress is sooo beautiful!! But thank you for this video, I’ve never heard of Matsushima but I’m definitely adding it to the must-see’s for the next time I visit Japan, which is hopefully soon!!! Glad to see you having fun with friends and making new memories, and hope you’re enjoying Sendai! As always, love from Canada!! 🇨🇦❤️
I loved seeing the conversation with Natsuki, I feel like he's not always able to correctly express himself in English, so seeing him not be the butt of a joke is really refreshing 😁
Chris; sarcastic brit with a heart of gold and the patience of a saint (he will reject the last two things but we know better😅)
Natsuki; the best japanese friend one could have; destiny at work🤩
Sharla; cat lover, beautiful in & out, it all started with a piece of bread.😍
Damn you’re all amazing and I/we love you all!😊
I love how we're all going back and watching the videos with Chris now that we know lol
i like how Sharmeleon lets Natsuki make jokes in Japanese, though they are still insane
Aye, I love Chris’ interaction with Natsuki, but he usually only talk to Natsuki in video using english, hence we only get Natsuki’s famous english quotes, but seeing Natsuki actually having full on conversation with Sharla is also nice
You guys give me the most wholesome found family vibes
I just love the way the Japanese present their food on the plates.
You look so very happy.
I lived in Japan for many years in my 20’s and 30’s. ( with my beautiful cat)
Enjoy your youth and your friendships. This is a wonderful time for you.
I’m glad that everything is going well for you. I saw your divorce video and I knew that you would rebuild your life. I’m glad you got your kitty back. 🐈
Japan City: We have crazy long working hours :
Japan Tourist Spot : We close everything at 3 o'clock :D
Applying for vacation is looked down upon
Flashback chris: so happy
Modern Chris: done with everybody’s crap lol
Sharla looks always amazing and I love to hear her speaking Japanese with Natsuki, she sounds most native out of all the foreigners I think! Also did Chris wear a pink shirt in that one shot? Looked great on him! What a nice trip ♥️
Trying to get best drip
I think it was part of the Jvlogger group trip sponsored by Odigo. Chris mentioned Rachel and Jun were there, and that's pretty much the only time I can think of that they did videos together. He was a lot more upbeat in those, possibly because the point was to show how much fun each destination could be.
@@tildessmoo nope, I wasn’t involved in those videos. That was just a trip we did on our own :)
I love having my post notifs on😂❤️ sorry had to comment before watching so you knew how quick I got here. Love you Sharla!!!❤️
Aww I appreciate you turning notifs on!! Thanks so much for stopping by💖
Really enjoy hearing you and Natsuki converse in Japanese. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it :D Haven’t used much Japanese recently so it was good practice for me too😂
@@sharlainjapan It sounded really natural to me :)
i liked the whole video but the part where she cut’s chris off when he was about to self promote his channel is one of my favorite parts x) it was funny and nice editing ^^
Discovering Sharla & Chris a few months ago, watching most of their content it’s amazing how much they change and grow over time steppining into serious adulthood. Colab videos are great, cute Sharla becomes goofy and wild Chris tender. she makes him decent and he makes her happy. Sharla discovering UK & Chris Canada, that would be hilarious series. We wish both of you all the best in the future, take care of each other, like you do! :) bye from Croatia
And now the are officially dating!
Where I live in Aomori, there have been hardly any cicadas this year, and it’s been weird without them.

That hornet was probably friends with the ones Norm slammed into. They were on alert for the Canadian vlogger 🤣

thanks for putting in the part of Natsuki explaining the cicada sound in japanese. Love those little, weird parts of language.
Love the flashbacks. Seeing Chris' handheld camera at 5:07 was nostalgic, yet also made me feel old. 😅
When sharla was buying the rice crackers she looked like natsukis mum buying him a treat 😄
What good timing, I'm actually going to be visiting Matsushima in a week and now I know to head early. Thanks.
Awesome! Have fun :D
I love how Natsuki has such a childish spirit. He seems like such a lovable doll.
Aaah! Listening to Sharla speaking casual japanese to Natsuki is exactly the right level of japanese I need to hear to get better at the language right now. I'm sad that most of the channels I like to follow normally feature so little of it. And when people do speak japanese it's normally too fast and with too difficult words, but this was just the perfect level. I can just barely follow along in the conversation, and I'm picking up several new ways to use or modify words I already know, so this is perfect and I want more of this!
I'm gonna watch this when it's not midnight lmao but DUDE. I have been wondering where you've been for like a month now I swear 😂 all of your videos are my comfort videos so your absence is always noticed 😭 so fkn happy to see u againnn !!! 🥲❤️❤️
Aww I appreciate that, thank you so much🥺💕 Happy to see you all in the comments again too!!!🥰❤️
OH MY GOD! SHANIA CAT! I can’t even deal with this 🤣
I'm in Ontario and I can assure you, there are cicadas here every summer. It was really loud this year with them. I am glad you guys had a cooler day to explore though!
I'm gald to hear that! I am probably relocating to CA and I love the sound of cicadas, so it made me sad when she said they're not heard there.
@@bassemb The west coast doesn't have many species (and where Sharla is from only has 1 known type). Our populations are quite low so the noise level is quite low as well. Ontario/Quebec though they have more species and the populations are higher so it is louder.
I was there two years ago and it's nice to see that the laughing cat has been a traditional fixture all along.
lmao the cut on Chris at the end and Natsuki dancing haha. Looks great!
Cicada interpretation part SLAPPED. More of that 🖤
Haha glad you enjoyed it😂🙏🏻
Maru: "What are you talking about? I'm always BEST boy."
I used to live in Missouri in the US and MAN. The cicadas there are nuts. Now I live in Canada. I'm going to have to keep an ear out for these polite cicadas!
Cicadas are certainly very loud like the ones in the videos here in Missouri, but idk, growing up here they're strangely relaxing and soothing too me. Not annoying at all
Adding ‘I’m a Crimer’ to my vocabulary
I so appreciate your videos, Sharla. They're mild and mellow and really help the anxiety and depression I'm dealing with right now, yet they're SO interesting, upbeat, and fun! And motivating - I want to learn Japanese lol, and while it probably won't happen, because of your videos I would LOVE to visit Japan! Thank you!!! xx

I distinctly remember being baited into trying to grab an umeshu off a tree in that garden by an older fellow rambling past- the fellow was at least 70-80 years of age. He wanted one too. His wife shouted at both of us! xD
Loved this video! Have to say your Japanese is fabulous - I think Natsuki likes it when you are around because there's someone who can understand him and talk to him!
I like how the flashback moments even come with the flashback music.
It was nice to listen Japanese in natural habitat. Story does not tell what happened to the bookshelf. Memory flashback of Chris explaining dancing neko was great one!
Notice that when Sharla is along, the Abroad in Japan/Tokyo Creative gang is much more humble and more organized.
To hear the Trash Talk Boyz tell it, Chris is actually organized to the point of obsession. He just also intentionally brings along confounding factors like Natsuki or Joey or Connor (or Pete) and incorporates their insanity into the video's narrative.
That dancing cat is a joy and it's so cool that you were able to film it the last time you were there!!
Loving the flashbacks Sharla. Definitely looking forward to visiting Matsushima Bay when Japan opens back up.
So I was watching the later video on Cris about the new studio and start to watch some old videos of him, one of those have you, and I was normally pass up but came to see how was your content. I was shocked and really liked the fact that not only you show different places and hang out with those guys, you speak very often Japanese on your videos and that’s something I was looking for.
