  • Tiverton Canal is an often overlooked location for Paddleboarding in Devon. BUT give it a try and you'll likely find you are the only vessels on the water and the area is filled with wildlife and natural beauty.
Geese, swan, Otters, Ducks, Moorhens and a whole plethera of aquatic life can be seen from your kayak or paddle board.
This canal is immaculately maintained and as such does require a pass to paddle on, these can be purchased online and from many shops in the Tiverton area, we got ours from the Post Office at Sampford Peverrel for £5 each.

Lovely canal ❤ paddled it on 28/10/23 with my husband on our way to see family in Buckland Brewer. Totally agree about wildlife and cleanliness- and like you , we had the canal to ourselves 😊

I’ll definitely be going back again and again. Been away from it due to injury for a while but it’s looking good for a few winter paddles now.

Hey Dom, great video, My Parents live 5 mins walk from the canal, I've canoed and kayaked it many times. I would often kayak from Halberton to Tiverton or Halberton to Sampford Peverel. I prefer moving water but it's a great place to build stamina. When I was about 15 I cycled into Tiverton to meet a mate, he had 2 kayaks and we kayaked ( pulling a rubber dinghy with camping gear) just past Tiverton golf course and setup camp in a copse of trees. If we had go pros back then it would've been a worthy adventure for your channel. 👍

What distance did you travel on this trip?

About 8km. But you can go further each way. We used the pub area as a starting point and going downstream you can go around 6km before it stops. Going upstream from the pub I’m not sure how far it goes but I’ve done 4km and not hit the end.
