These old inertia starters do jam. We used to put them in gear and rock the car to unwind the bendix gear. Sometimes there was a square on the motor shaft to put a spanner on, to unwind it. I bet it isn't the engine that is seized.
Always wanted to work at a breakers yard...ended up building commercial engines for a living...would rather have the fun these guys are having and lap up the experience from marky boy...he eeee
Best looking car of its day, I remember my bother buying one and doing it up , spraying it white and driving it all the way to Spain with his friends and back ,a lovely car it was very speedy
When you take that engine and box out wind the starter backwards and start the engine on the floor I've done it hundreds of times. you think the engine is seized it's not the dog has stuck in the ring gear so the celluloid is just clicking. Take the starter off and turn the engine by hand and it will turn over.
We did think that only problem we have is we can’t spend to much time on getting these running just having a few of of for a couple hours is costing us ! It’s just one of them unlucky ones it defeated marky boy !
My first car was a mk 1 cortina and it was the same colour as that 1 ,this was in 1975 and I bought it off my dad for £70.00 my second car was a corsair 2000 which was Canary yellow and I paid £10.00 for it.
Mine was a 1965 model, GUK 706C. 1200cc. All the channel sections were replaced. Provided the points, plugs were checked regularly and the oil changed, it ran very well - until written off on an icy bend with me in the passenger seat.
Nice to see you guys trying your best to get my dads former car running again. Shame the engine has locked on, especially since I managed to get it turning over initially🙂
A shame the old girl won't start. I think she is telling you that it is time to let her go. There doesn't look to be much of anything to be reused, either. A shame. Those Mark I Cortinas are sweet
you did your very best Marky boy....but indeed, you can't keep on spending costly time on it. Maybe sell the motor and gearbox ? Someone will be very happy trying to rebuild it. Greetings from Belgium
Poor marcus he looked totally deflated he hates not getting them running aw well you tried mate think eleven James felt for you on this one , hope there wasn't a breaky on this one , when are you burning Ben tracky lol
Oh did we buy one from you ha !! Most Japanese cars like crv get engine and running gear dropped and sold for export and the rest gets squashed ! Any cars like that don’t have long yard life’s and get processed more or less same day!
@@BCB Yeah your lad Sam came down picked it up couple weeks ago, I was a bit sad to see it go but the tin worm had eaten away underneath sadly. Top was nice and shiny though lol!
I don't know what you guys are moanin about there is nothing wrong with the body of this car,and only surface rust on the floor that should be covered under the ford extended rust warranty
Note POSITIVE Earth, surely starter, if it turns at all, would turn backwards and never send the starter dog into mesh, also surely the coil would never work in a reversed state. It would never start.I owned a1966 1200 cortina that was definately positive earth

Crispy Marcus reminds me of my old Cortina my springs ended like yours from rust lol
Put up a good fight for this one but don't worry I love seeing you breathe life into these classics, keep up the good work
Those starters used to stick on the dog you put a spanner on the opposit end and wind it backwards
Unlucky lads 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well the starter motor is running, we are in with a chance now. 👍👍👍
That's life marky boy,ya win some ya lose some 👍
Oh, well. Rest In Peace, Cortina :( Marcus - today was not meant to be your day, but there will be more victories ahead for you :)
Take the starter motor back off and try to turn the engine again...Great fun video as always.
It's gonna run. Marcus is a genius with cars. I need him to stop by next time he is in Florida and He can work on my Land Rover 🙂
Great video lads and remember it’s all about the connection

Agree, definitely worth taking starter out again and seeing if engine turns over by hand

@@BCB Wouldn't take long and you'd know for the next time it happens.
I had two mark 1 cortinas very reliable
Every bit of faith in Marcus, #marcuslegend.

Lovely car
Good to see you hit 5000 subs. This Cortina is dead time to weigh her in. Mind you there is not a lot to weigh.
Nice to see you guys trying your best to get my dads former car running again. Shame the engine has locked on, especially since I managed to get it turning over initially🙂
Of course it will run

I used to repair and service these starters you get a 5 inch and a 4 1/2 inch face plate
Set of new tyres and its ready for the MOT
At this age you don't need a MOT a quick service and away you go 👍
The old girl just wasnt having it i say take out the engine and with rotten floor pans you will have a good old fred flintstone car ready to go 😁😂
Gutted for you Marcus can't believe you were defeated by common old cortina better luck next time pal 👍👌👏🤬😡
rew plates be just fine just the metal that needs a good connection
Never mind you can't win them all.You gave it your best shot.xx
Them starters can work on bench but once in car under load they're a$$holes lol
Thought you'd crushed it last time 🤔
you did your very best Marky boy....but indeed, you can't keep on spending costly time on it. Maybe sell the motor and gearbox ? Someone will be very happy trying to rebuild it. Greetings from Belgium
I bet you dropped the car hard enough to dent the sump into the crank and Sieze it up
Of course it's going to run with Marky boy on the job 👍 eeeeeeeeh
Never mind roll on the next one
keep em coming boys
It will run
Poor marcus he looked totally deflated he hates not getting them running aw well you tried mate think eleven James felt for you on this one , hope there wasn't a breaky on this one , when are you burning Ben tracky lol
That’s coming up soon that’s gonna burn very good 🔥!!
valve maybe stuck stopping the piston from hitting TDC.
It’s an old Ford, built well
Try changing the Flux Capacitor! Peachy 🍑
You cannot win them all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for trying
Okay so I said that before seeing underneath lol 😆
That sea air must do a number on your cars....
look under seats for very old relics
Ratrod the old girl 👍
Drop the sump and have a look
I keep watching these to see if I can see my Honda CRV in the background, I am kind of curious what happened to it.

Unlucky marky 😔
Duck Oil is the best thing on the planet
I Had a car that i thougat was seized. But when i turend the centre bolt at the back of the starter it was free to turn
Marky boy ,don't worry 99 % of the motors you get running 👍 ehhhhhhhhh
Hello boys marky will get it running if he don’t I’ll buy him beans on toast 😊
Good try, can't win them all guys!
