  • The information in this video is accurate at the time of recording. Porter have recently announced a huge new list of destinations to the United States with flights to Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Fort Myers, Tampa and Las Vegas, all starting in late 2023 or early 2024. When this video was recorded, Porter only flew internationally to Boston, Chicago, NewYork and Washington.
This flight was also flown in the summer of 2022 before Porter had received any E2’s. At the time of this upload, Porter now have 22 E2’s in their fleet, operating alongside their 29 Q400’s. The greater range and capacity of the new E195-E2 is allowing Porter to operate these new destinations in the United States.
Since Porters launch in 2006, this is the largest expansion they have ever made, and after announcing their new aircraft will be based at Toronto Pearson, it is not clear what will happen to Porters base at Toronto Billy Bishop, once they eventually retire their fleet of Q400’s.

I might possibly be going on a school trip (Only 10 people were selected) to go to Europe. Besides being in Europe, I look forward to the British Airways A380 flight from DFW to LHR, in summer of 2025. I loved the video and hope to be a pilot when I get a job. ❤

Absolutely great review, would love to fly Porter one day! I unfortunately relate to the horribly controlled US customs problem at Toronto Pearson, as everything you described happened to my departing flight as well. Glad to see you shining light to the issue! 😂

Thank you and honestly, the Pre clearance in Toronto has to be one of the worst choke points in any airport I've ever visited. Absolutely horrible, but I'm glad I'm not alone haha

Porter is OK but I'm sorry you didn't experience them at their height. They started out marketing as basically an all-biz-class flight and had nice and cool lounges, amazing in-flight food and wine, etc. But as fairly regular flyer, I can assure you that sadly they have really declined over the years. Still not bad, truly, but nothing like their original dream, and yet great if you want to fly among smaller cities and secondary airports, truly. But if you are a national and global flyer, it's AC all the way and I nearly never had a single issue with them that was not resolved very quickly. Thanks for the great review, truly, and btw you are totally right on about the ease of small airports like Bishop in Toronto!

Agreed! It's air Canada for me because of their global reach, global lounges, alliances etc. I look at all these factors.

Porter definitely offers the best cabin experience for all passengers! No middle seats, free beer, wine and snacks on all flight. One thing you did mention was as the Q400 ages you think Porter will pull out of YTZ. I can tell you Porter has no plans to pull out of YTZ.

Porter should be Canada's flag carrier, also the fact they fly to Dulles make them that much better.

Supposedly they will be taking on some ex Westjet Q400s so imagine they won’t endup getting rid of the q400s for a very long time. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there’s a real replacement for the Q400 just yet but one would hope in the next 20 years as many of the current airframes reach the 30 year mark someone will have come up with one.
I do think the E2 expansion is a dangerous endeavour for porter though, there place in the market isn’t super clear as in terms of price Lynx and Flair are very difficult to compete with while Air Canada and Westjet are very hard to compete with in terms of the capacity ,network , and brand loyalty / awareness. This makes there place in the market quite odd, currently they seem to be trying YOW as a larger hub with the E2 along with expansions into the usa and cross Canada. I think they will see a very troublesome path to success and personally I don’t think there future is all that bright from what I’ve seen but supposedly they got one hell of a deal on the E2 and if they find away all the power to them as it is always nice to see another Canadian airline succeed.

That'll be awesome! Hopefully like you say, when the Q400's go, Porter will find a new aircraft to operate from Bishop, or they get an expansion in that time. It will be very interesting to see how they go!

@@Aviation18 Unfortunately, it will be difficult to find a new aircraft to replace the Q400 at the island airport. The agreement that allows the airport to operate bans the use of jets and most other non-STOL aircraft. The Dash-8 (of which the Q400 is the fourth iteration) was specifically allowed to operate by name in the agreement (the Saunders ST-27 is the other aircraft that is specifically allowed). The 4000 foot runway also limits the aircraft choices (Midway's main runways are 6500).
