Scott Kelly) 1:17:06 Crack the Skye (live debut, feat. Scott Kelly) 1:24:04 Crystal Skull (feat. Scott Kelly)
This is my favorite live performance by them. Bill's singing during the end of mother puncher makes me want to walk around punching people in the throat.
the only song missing from the setlist is crusher destroyer if they played that this wouldve been the perfect show and quite possibly the solar system may have been destroyed by the amount of energy given off
The last two minutes of "Trainwreck" is probably my favorite part of any Mastodon song ever, honestly. It's Brann Dailor at his most unleashed, and it's unbelievable every single time I hear it.
Ahhhh, opening with Hearts Alive. Unheard of now. I keep on waiting for it to change, but, through and through, all in all, I can't put any Mastodon song above Hearts Alive.
Definitely an awesome show and set list, my favorite live shows from them are definitely Roskilde 2011 and live in the k pit with Scott Kelly, mainly just because they are fantastic quality and the mixes are amazing. I wish those ones were as long as this one, this show kicks ass tho. Must’ve been so awesome to be there
This wasn't the first time they performed Oblivion live, because they performed it on David Letterman probably a few weeks earlier (They did the same with Curl of the burl)
glad that you are enjoying this! The show was amazing and I did my best to preserve the original warmth of this highly cathartic show at a pivotal time in the bands history. Cheers
Jamie Lam They are just about every night. Mastodon are so tight I filmed them in Japan on 3 nights took all the video footage and synched them to one soundboard. I exhaused myself with theor precision and had to stop mixing after 3 songs..Serious
Just got on a Mastodon kick again and found this show. I was there! Fucking amazing. Crack the Skye is still my favorite in their discog. Thanks for the memories! Neurosis was on point at this show as well. I also saw Boris earlier in the day. Fuck
Well, this is a nice little gem from many years ago to run across. I came back from the Ashes of Leviathan tour a couple weeks ago with a reignited obsession for this band. Very cool to see the live debut of several Crack the Skye songs.
Man, I am reminiscing about this concert this morning. Such a good day, so many great bands, all for fuckin' free. Some things I will never forget: the immediate cloud of smoke that filled up in the tent as soon as Boris walked on stage, Neurosis being so loud I thought it was going to make my heart get out of rhythm, and getting to hear Scott Kelly perform all his songs with Mastodon. Thanks for uploading this.
the influences are just immense. when I first heard them i heard blood mountain purely by accident. i thought it sounded like DEATH. theyre soooo diverse.
Wow didn't know Mastodon playad that one as late as 2009...It's a classic for sure. I can understand why Mastodon dont play this song so very often. It's a long song and it requires that they can play it well together. Brann had a hard time on the drums in the beginning :P
The only songs that could've made this set more perfect were Where Strides The Behemoth and Ghost of Karelia, definitely. They totally nailed it in the song selection, otherwise
Hmm Methinks it sounds lke a zappa song. those guys listen to zappa they said so in rolling stone. I can also hear the influence of bands like king crimson and yes in songs like the last baron. furthermore leviathan (one of my all-time favs) is full of musical references to converge, especially jane doe. also some "Dillinger Riffs" in there. so there you have it. also bladecatcher is a lot of fun to play in the car with my dad lol!
@dedamile your judging this by the singing im guessing which isnt even mastodons strong point. all of the guitar work and drums are on point, plus singing and playing an instrument is really difficult
Bill's reaction when Brent plays the intro to "BladeCatcher" tells me this probably wasn't on the setlist orginally
Stagecraft, this was a breakthrough performance and I was lucky in position to capture Brent shredding bladecatcher from the top .
I get the same feeling when Bill starts train wreck
ever since I've been listening to mastodon I've been wanting to get a gibson explorer. now i got a job and it's only a few paychecks away.
on an out door stage
Get an ES-335.
@@zeppelinfan82 only 12 years too late lol

could they possibly be....mothers throats?
Holy shit, Dann Brailor during Trainwreck, especially the last couple minutes, his face and playing,.. dear god :o
the only song missing from the setlist is crusher destroyer if they played that this wouldve been the perfect show and quite possibly the solar system may have been destroyed by the amount of energy given off

Andrew Henry jaguor god is my favorite mastodon song
Hearts Alive is truly an amazing, epic song. Definitely takes you on a journey.
Ahhhh, opening with Hearts Alive. Unheard of now. I keep on waiting for it to change, but, through and through, all in all, I can't put any Mastodon song above Hearts Alive.
It really is a song like no other, so out-of-the-box, unconfined songwriting.
@@norseman3514 Unconfined songwriting. That's a great way to describe it.
what a solid setlist, best ever
Probably my fav live vid of there's, everyone is locked in and firing on all cylinders. Love seeing these!
Definitely an awesome show and set list, my favorite live shows from them are definitely Roskilde 2011 and live in the k pit with Scott Kelly, mainly just because they are fantastic quality and the mixes are amazing. Gotta be one of the best Mastodon setlists/ live shows on youtube
Greatest Mastodon Setlist by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar
The only thing better is seeing them open with This Mortal Soil. That was stellar!!!
I love it when Brent plays SG's. they fit him so well!
This wasn't the first time they performed Oblivion live, because they performed it on David Letterman probably a few weeks earlier (They did the same with Curl of the burl)
Mastodon is one of my all time favorite bands, thank you to the recorder and uploader!
glad that you are enjoying this! The show was amazing and I did my best to preserve the original warmth of this highly cathartic show at a pivotal time in the bands history. Cheers
Sensei Kelly Van Gogh They were dialed IN this show! Top notch. Kudos!
Jamie Lam They are just about every night. Mastodon are so tight I filmed them in Japan on 3 nights took all the video footage and synched them to one soundboard. I exhaused myself with theor precision and had to stop mixing after 3 songs..Serious
Kelly O'Brien uj
branns butterin the shit outta those rolls
Watching Bill's hand move at like 1:05:30 is so mesmerizing
Fucking amazing, I Hope see 'Mastodon" with 'Slayer" next month!'
open with Hearts Alive... creamed my jeans
Glad to see that all of you are enjoying this show!
Just got on a Mastodon kick again and found this show. I was there! Fucking amazing. Crack the Skye is still my favorite in their discog. Thanks for the memories! Neurosis was on point at this show as well. I also saw Boris earlier in the day. Fuck
rampface85 I was there too. Free show with Pig Destroyer Kylesa Torche RWAKE Neurosis High On Fire Gaylord Converge
@@CullyBenson They need to do something like this again, Just pack in the heaviest unforgiving bands in one room to celebrate heavy metal.
I was there! What an excellent show....
Well, this is a nice little gem from many years ago to run across. I came back from the Ashes of Leviathan tour a couple weeks ago with a reignited obsession for this band. Very cool to see the live debut of several Crack the Skye songs.
bill plays everything so perfect
A legendary set to be sure.
I can't wait for the 20 year Leviathan tour! Beyond excited, hopefully big 'Rona lets up enough by then so we can actually have live shows again.
Man, I am reminiscing about this concert this morning. Such a good day, so many great bands, all for fuckin' free. Wow these guys blew the doors off that place, amazing
well it's an impressive illusion and I like the song that Mastodon hypnotizes into my mind with it
Even Brent's guitar tech looks badass.
Man that version of Seabeast was really good the bass tone was brutal the way it was meant to be.
2:31 = Scott Hull on the side of the stage.
Hearts Alive, it might be my favourite song by them!
brent is the shit
the influences are just immense. when I first heard them i heard blood mountain purely by accident. i thought it sounded like DEATH.
theyre soooo diverse.
lol at 1:19:43 during crack the skye, scott kelly screams something while Troy is singing, and brent looks over and thinks someone screwed up.
Wow didn't know Mastodon playad that one as late as 2009...It's a classic for sure. I can understand why Mastodon dont play this song so very often. It's a long song and it requires that they can play it well together. Brann had a hard time on the drums in the beginning :P
the riffs are soo dope though
crack the skye is such a great song. scott kelly needs to join this band for reals
If you hate work, this is awesome to watch.
What an EPIC show!!!!!!!!! Why wasn`t i there???? Shiiiiiiiiiiit... All Hail to the Mighty Mastodon!!!

opening with hearts alive is AWESOME. do this again mastodon lol
AMAZING
Damn this was a great show and I can't help but feel like they had no idea what was going on.....they just knew they had to get up there and play lol
If someone asked me if I would rather see the second coming of Jesus or see Mastodon at this show......I'd pick MASTODON!!!!!
Great Fucking Job! I can't get enough of these guys.
la cago crack the skye! de las mejores versiones.-
The only songs that could've made this set more perfect were Where Strides The Behemoth and Ghost of Karelia, definitely.
They totally nailed it in the song selection, otherwise
Around the 1 hour mark...is mother puncher from the Remission album
SO MUCH SILVERBURST!

Thumbs up for that !
These dudes got big quick.
@dedamile the majority of it is filmed from the side of the stage, so its an uneven mix
she goes to alot of there shows from what ive seen
i don't know what you're talking about. it has some very deep and beautiful lyrics. lol
nice stuff bro

@Loewra827 Ha... He is that.
29:12 best solo face ever
Pointless observation by me, but at 36:15 the blonde chick i think is Laura Pleasants from Kylesa
ssmith87 Kylesa played this fest. It was an all day show at the Masquerade and it was fucking free
mutoidman 2112 R.I.P. Scion
Scott got the lyrics wrong towards the end of Crack the Skye XD

@dedamile your judging this by the singing im guessing which isnt even mastodons strong point. all of the guitar work and drums are on point, plus singing and playing an instrument is really difficult
LOL, Brann Dailor, jesus christ i gotta go to bed xD
