Instead of devs wasting years on developing maps and implementing light zones and trying to maoe lighting work in the environment (yes NFSU was hell to make to be lit up like that as each texture needed to have baked in lighting as well as loght posts needed special l8ghting values including cars etc)... while with ray tracing devs can now finally spend more time actually making the game look preetier and more immersive by adding details as well as making each set piece unique instead of spending time rebaking lighting and constantly remodeling the map because of lighting updates. You don't have a beef with ray tracing. You have beef with games gameplay revolving around microtransactions and "carrot on a stick" type of gameplay which has been proven to yield most profits because today... we live in a consemerism. I am still glad that games are keep looking prettier and more complex visually but the problem lies in with the profiteers who are making gameplay part of the game generate money 8nstead of fun. I know you believe that money is going into the visuals and not the gameplay but you can be assured that THE MOST amount of money goes into the gameplay to make it generate money.

The problem is people always tend to just click highest option available for graphics then bash the game and technology for why it works like ass. You can with ease get ray tracing with 60 fps. Yes you can't enable highest fidelity options or enable in games that support full suite of ray tracing but enabling partially some will yield excellent image quality results. Take a look at metro exodus enhanced or resident evil village for example or control. Even with low mid range GPUs you cam get 60 fps with decent ray tracing quality that changes fundamentally how the game looks for the better.
Best game ever made. NFS Underground 1 really changed video games. Fast and Furious really inspired EA to make a street racing game like this. NFS Underground was the first NFS game to have customization, tuner cars and made it amazing.

Man so many memories of this game! I used to play this game so much! And then Underground 2 came out and I was just blown away. I really hope we get a remastered version of both games. I've been playing NFSH and it just don't have that "damn this is amazing" factor to it like Underground 1&2 especially had.
After nearly 20 years, I committed and finally beat this game on ALL HARD. It was *punishing*, like the dark souls of racing. The rubber banding in insane and the random traffic is so challenging. But as a 12 year old, I quit on like, event 107/111 and I finally beat it tonight. It's a good feeling to finally finish such an old project!

I'm getting old and slow so some of the races are pretty hard for me but the traffic is consistent every race (like lap 4 always has traffic in the same lane etc) so as long as you keep mental notes you'll be good. The only really nasty race is a 7 lap circuit race near the end of the game. Get through that and it's smooth sailing.

The first UG was an ambitious project by Black Box to show what they really can do with 6 gen consoles, on PS2 the reflections are even more ridiculous, they hired people who did the racing scene on Star Wars Prequel to catch the feeling of environment and speed.
It's remastered with better graphic but easier level defficulty. In old versions was huge traffic and in one race there wasnt posibility to not crash 5-10 times.
I cherish those days I played NFS:U(2), NFS:MW, and MC3:DE. too bad I never got to finnish them since those were the days when blockbuster was booming. 😔 I also remember playing with there in-store game systems while watching to check out our movies and games with both my mother and big brother. Ah! Those were the days! 😌

@@sametkurt8481 this, while the NFS games are all arcade, the driving was not over the top comedy, and you could actually feel that the car was responding in a kinda realistic maner, you could feel better the weight of the car and correct as such. Modern NFS games feel like burnout with cops.

@@Zy.Blurish that game was pure as shit regardless of limited customization I loved its realistic slippery feel, always kept me on edge as a kid then I discoverd a Pinkslip glitch and ended being rich I was on Xbox doe but all I did was max out the Mitsubishi 3000gt or whatever it all to prototypes and every car that was a Pinkslip challenge was a slow ass ford focus and it worked on every racer
I played it after NFSU2 bec of curiosity. It didn't disappoint me due to the way the car handles (kinda grippy) which suited my playing style. Though I like NFSU2 because of the free roam and the n350z titular car. I must say this game is way ahead of its generation.
Jeez i hated this game after a while soo much because the blur effect when you drive hard. everything moves to fast. rubberbanding. I was stuck at race 95 and after a while my disc was so scratched that it didn't work anymore. Luckily i had underground 2 laying around. Way better then this one
