God when you throw this game on a good TV with upscaling it still looks WAY better than most of the current shit out, the sound design, the angles on the cut scenes. I would have loved to see the same visionaries behind this working on current day nfs. What a shame EA had to fuck it all up.

You can tell this game was made around the same time Tokyo Drift came out. I assume that was the inspiration for this game. Has alot of the same tone and atmosphere as Tokyo Drift. Not sure which came first but this game was special for sure

The main inspiration was taken from The Anime series, Initial D, because of the Downhill drift/touge race. They modified the race type and named Canyon Race
Really wish they included the canyons and San Juan in the free roam map 😭 that’s what glitches are for though. But mannn imagine we got a game that connected MW and Carbon’s maps through the canyon

This game had an really odd take on rubberbanding. Wolf tend to be the weirdest case. Sometimes he is the easiest boss out of the bunch and sometimes he can be pretty challenging.
I remember playing this game non-stop, as a kid, it was almost always the same, come back from school, change clothes, and run downstairs to a 5 hours session of either carbon, battlefront II, or MK Armaggedon. I still have a folder with zipper, in there... oof... like a 100 cd's of PS2 with games like "Destroy all humans 2", PES and FIFA (from 06 to 13), Gran Turismo 4, Midnight Club 3, GTA's (3, SA, LCS). And 3 copies of my big three, bc I always managed to fck up the cd's by just playing too much. Brings back good memories...
Futuristic , graphics looks absolutely amazing on modern pcs if maxed out. Cars are super futuristic looks almost like nowadays... a master - piece for every speed racer
