- A bunion - medically known as hallux valgus - is a deformity of the forefoot in which the big toe drifts towards the second toe. The first metatarsal head sticks out medially, appearing as a lump on the inner-side of the foot.
As the deformity gets worse, the big toe also rotates and slightly elevates, so that the remaining metatarsals at the base of the lesser four toes have more load and become more painful. The skin over the bunion is often red or sore, and the joint may feel painful. Movement of the big toe may also be restricted, particularly if there is arthritis in the joint.
Bunions generally develop because of a family history. Stress on your foot, particularly when wearing tight shoes with high heels, will then bring this genetic predisposition to the forefront.

Massage actually works. I have bunions way back in college, after removing my shoes I immediately massage the area because it hurts, the pain decreased and I do it everytime i removed my shoes.

My toes have been perfectly straight for 2 decades until I started college, where super tight, incredibly painful court shoes with 2-3 inches heels are mandatory as part of the uniform and was forced to walking around in them from 8am to sometimes 10 pm. Now my feet looks slightly deformed and are sore most of the time.
Same here! I work reception and required me to wear heels.... big problem now and might need surgery if it gets worse

My feet have always been big, so most "pretty" shoes never fit me growing up. What was the other option? Medical grade shoes. Wide toe space, a confy wide heel, and adjustable straps. I hated it growing up because i never got to wear those pretty shoes that the other girls wore, but I'm now so grateful because i have 0 problems with my feet. Everything is working as it should. perfect arches, no dead rough skin on my toes, no bunyun, and my toes are perfectly spaced out! My orthopedic doctor told me those shoes were the main reason i can still walk without pain because otherwise, it would have put too much pressure on my ankles and knees.

I have this, had it my whole life in both big toes, never had pain before. only problems I've ever had was with my shoe sizes edit: its the top bone in the toe not the shown 1 in the video
Btw is this an acquired or inherited trait? Because my aunts and uncles have same kind of foot and so do I.
I inherited it, and have had it my whole life but it can get worse over time like the video says.
I had a minor fracture there after an incident at a pelada. The doctor decided it was a good idea to buddy tape it together with my second toe. It wasn't....
